You might've been able to get away with a small! That's irrelevant though... you look great! And happy!5 -

Ditto. She beat me to all of it!
BTW I’ve always loved your user name. That was my dads nickname for me when I was little, and is our elderly, balding lovebird’s name, too, though we call him Brighty. Brighteyed “again” makes absolute perfect joyous sense to me. 😘5 -
Awesome @BrightEyedAgain ! You look great!2

Thanks y'all

C'mon folks! I know I can't be the only one seeing NSVs these days...
For all you new people....
NSV=non scale victory
Nothing is too small to celebrate. It's the little daily things that keep us all motivated even when the scale doesn't immediately cooperate. And the process of NOTICING the positive changes can really help you retrain your brain. So don't be shy! Let us be excited with you!!🥳🥳🥳10 -
Monday, my trainer snuck an pair of extra 45s on the leg press, and I told her “well if you’re going to do that, then we might as well go for 300.”
I’ve been asking for increased weight on other machines, too.
So, I’ve had several machine PRs in the gym this week, and bumped up my hand weights up again in Muscle Madness classes, too, second time this year.
She’s also started me on deadlifts, something my old trainer avoided.
Really liking this trainer. She comes in with a set plan and I asked to be challenged, and she sure does. I was her first client and she asked to train me, which was novel and flattering. Three months later she’s booked out and turning clients away.
Squats and bench remain static, although depth has really improved in squats. I’m not going to wreck my knees at this age, though. 😁
Going to go out on a limb here and say, my best experience has been both my female trainers. The guys I’ve had either did completely inappropriate training with no plan til I walked in the door, or treated me like a fragile l rosebud and wouldn’t challenge me. Sorry, gentlemen. I’m sure present company excluded, but locally…..and anyway they were big box trainers (except delicate flower guy at the current gym) which seemed to make a quality difference, too.11 -

You know I'm behind this!!! #deadliftisthebestlift8 -
I had a really hard time with my son's birthday and Mother's Day this month, as he's at college and I didn't get to see him in person either day. I ate all my feelings. My NSV is that I got back on track Monday. I've logged everything I've eaten. It's only been two days, but it's a big deal to me.19
-
@springlering62 All I can say is WOW! You go girl! That's fantastic!4

One NSV is that I have started to lift a little and for the most part feel good about it.
Another NSV is that I have continued to exceed my regular target of 12k steps a day with a grand total of 90k per week. I have actually hit that mark for 13 weeks in a row and the last 11 in a row I've hit 100K steps a week,
I still need to do better with eating but at least I am doing something.
Have a great day y'all!12 -
I haven't had too many NSVs lately, and for sure no scale victories.
My mass went up considerably when I was rowing the Grand Canyon. The outfit that provided our food pack wanted to be sure we didn't run short on food, and there was no way to save food once prepared. Yes, I was a bit of a human garbage disposal because I really do hate to waste food. So over the four weeks I was gone, I gained eight pounds. And I got home and it didn't stop. But that's all about the scale....
Non-scale? Well, a fourth lap of the Colorado River through Grand Canyon could be a victory. But not really. You don't conquer a river; you dance. I did make friends with the last rapid that was sort of my nemesis. It's called "232 mile," and is also called Killer Fang Falls. It wasn't supposed to be my day to row, but the guy I was sharing a boat with was too hung over. It was a great day with a dozen medium sized rapids including 232. We scouted. I was the first boat, and I had a really good line. Four dedicated but not rushed pull strokes broke through the laterals and away from the fangs. I also had a good run at Lava Falls, and even though we had over 60 mph gusts the first day, we had a great time.
How about this for a NSV: My weight is up, and I'm not worried about it because I know what to do. At some point, I'll get it done!24 -
Since January 2023, I dropped a size in pants and am now able to get my belt buckle in the 9th set of holes instead of the 2nd.19
-
@mtaratoot ...you may not consider it an NSV, but I'm totally impressed by your rowing story
@MichelleV1990 ...Yay for watching the belt holes go down! That's the best feeling! I'm sure you're rockin' your new pants, too.
As for me, I'm currently in a small battle with a 2lb gain in my maintenance range. I haven't yet decided if it really IS muscle or if I'm rationalizing. Time will tell. But yesterday I managed a PR in the pool. I swam a mile in under 50 minutes. I've only done a mile ONE other time, and that was over a year ago. That time it took me over an hour because I needed lots of breaks. This time I wasn't fast, but I could keep going.15 -
I managed to run a 10k again for the first time in 18 months.
I has been difficult to get back to that due to injury (sprained ankle), illness (Shingles and Covid) and resulting fatigue, combined with work changes that were good but stressful.
Though that 10k is a NSV, it is linked to a SV. As during that time I still managed to stay in maintenance, though I admit with a little more variation around my stable weight13 -
Nearly five years in, and after reading this particular NSV throughout this thread and thinking WTF, it’s finally happened.
Out of nowhere, all of a sudden, all my shoes are loose.
😮
You know how we keep saying “you can’t help where your body stores fat?”
Feet? Really?17 -
I jogged! For the first time in years. It wasn't much. I ran "poles" - walk to telephone pole, then jog to next telephone pole, repeat - for 30 minutes. I was pretty chuffed with myself.26
-
My birthday is coming up so I had my annual physical today. It was so empowering to hear my doctor say things like "wow, all of your blood work looks great" and "you are completely healthy and I will see you next year."
A second NSV that I am equally excited to share is that I completed a 30 day running challenge. There were 10 runs, starting with a 1 miler and increasing sequentially to a 10 miler. Not only did I finish it, I finished it with 8 days to spare - 55 miles in 22 days!
Prior to this challenge, the longest I had run was a 10k. I am now thinking of running a half marathon, something I never would have even dreamed about even a year ago.21 -
Today I showed up at work in scrubs with my hair in a ponytail (unusual for me- I’m generally in business casual with my hair down) and one of my teammates I hadn’t seen in several months didn’t know who I was for a moment. She asked someone, “who is that young girl?” I’m 38. Day made.21

That's fantastic! We used to have an above ground pool, but had to take it down. I loved swimming but never got to your level! Keep up the good work!3 -
I wore a dress today without leggings under it. The dress hits above the knee. Not super short by any means, but I've always worn leggings with it because I felt self-conscious without them.21

Wow…I can’t imagine 83k in a week!5

Down a pant size!! #nsv18
-
I've tracked and logged my food honestly since Monday.24
-
I had a crappy start to the day, but I put on my workout clothes and headed to the gym instead of feeling sorry for myself on the couch.18

I planted my garden yesterday. It's heavy work and for the past several years I had to split it into multiple days and even with that, my back would have been killing me. Did it all yesterday with just a couple 10 minute breaks and no back pain!29
-
Been to the gym every day so far this month, also my lungs are feeling strong, it's definitely helping my asthma24

I had my blood lab work done last week and my A1C was down from 6.9 to 5.7. The doctor asked me if I had done something to cause that.
I told him I have lost 55 pounds in the last 7 months. He paused for a longtime and then said he was impressed.
My cousin took a picture of me when I wasn't aware and I look like crap. My shirts are way way to big and I looked sloppy.
I guess I don't need my 2 and 3X shirts now so I ordered a couple of large because even if they are too small now they will fit in a couple of months.
I have back slid this last 2 weeks but I got back on my plan and I'll start loosing again.26 -
Noted less breathless getting to the top of the stairs & that I am 2.5 BMI points down ….. still in obese category, but hey, feel this is a win!

Down from a tight fitting US Size 22 W to Size 14 since March of 2022. Never thought I would be here!36

I had two really surprising NSV last week. First, I noticed I now have "thigh gap". 😳 I actually can't even remember the last time I had that. Standing straight...my thighs don't touch at all!
Next...I RAN up lightly the equivalent of two flights of stairs. I was in a hurry and to me...it was worth being breathless when I got to the top. Shockingly, I wasn't. I was fine! Just a few months ago it seems even walking up those same stairs I was out of breath...I'm literally stunned I RAN. 😲31
