My kitchen is open 24/7/365, whenever I am hungry. I divided my diary into time periods so I'm aware of when I eat and can make good choices, but I don't have any "no-no" times.

I don't because I can't sleep if I'm hungry. And usually get up to eat something and go straight back to bed, which may be worse than a small snack an hour or so before bed. IDK. It hasn't been so much of a problem with MFP in my life every day!

I generally don't eat after dinner which I try to have around 6ish so that we can eat as a family. But sometimes my husband and I have our dinner after the kids go to bed, around 8. I'm pregnant right now though, so if I'm hungry, I eat!

    NEVARRR! ;p

It's not eating after a certain time that inhibits weight loss. It's OVER-eating ANYTIME that inhibits it.

I try to stop eating about an hour before I retire for the night which is usually around 11:30.
  • my kitchen is open 24 hours a day lol! no seriously, I don't go to bed hungry....ever :)
  • nope! my body runs on a 26-hour clock, so there are times when i wake up at 10 pm, it would be kind of useless to have a cut-off time. i usually stop eating about 3-4 hours before i fall asleep :)
  • 8 PM for me, though I will have a glass of milk every once in a while if I feel a little peckish before bedtime. If I go to bed with a full stomach I have a lot of trouble sleeping so 8 is usually a good cutoff time for me.

i close my kitchen at least 3 hours before bed...i want to have time to digest my food and hopefully burn some of it off! luckily i dont really get hungry at night. if i did, i believe i would have to find something high in protein and easy to digest.
  • I try not to eat past 8PM but sometimes I fail miserably! :ohwell:

I try to stop eating a couple hours before bed, so the specific time depends on the night. More about having a crumb free mouth for brushing, than anything else.

Dinner is my last meal. I eat dinner no later than 7 and I don't eat again.
  • I allow myself a light yogurt, (80 cal) or a snack an hour or 2 after dinner. Then subconsciously, the kitchen is closed for the evening. If my ways always worked, I wouldn't need to lose weight, so am gaining new insight from everyone here on MFP! Good luck this weekend everyone....weekends are sometimes a little harder for me.

I'm worse about it on the weekends, but I tend to take all three of my meals to work and eat dinner before leaving (5-6, depending on my arrival time). Then, the most I'll have is a quarter cup of pepitas or 10 almonds, or something. I find that I can start freeing weight by just making a rule that I don't eat my dinners so late. This isn't a problem for everyone, but for me, late eating tends to be a weight factor.

This, exactly. I can't sleep if I'm hungry -- plus, if I go hungry for any period of time, then I overeat later. Since there is no research that convinces me going to bed hungry will help me lose weight or have increased overall health, there's no motivation for me to deprive myself. I watch my calories, but eat whenever I'm hungry.

    It doesn't close.
I eat when I'm hungry, simple as. I'd NEVER not eat when my body wants to, body knows best.
Also, if I'm treating myself that evening, I might have a cookie or two about an hour before bed :blushing:

Same as most people here...never closes.

If i do, my dog can't get to his water bowl :(

But yeah, sometimes i really dont want to eat in the daytime, so i have a 1k cal dinner and some snacks an hour before bed. Just make sure i'm still hitting my targets though :)

When I am out of calories since it makes no difference eating late at night or not as long as you don't go over your calories.
