This is a weird NSV.
I thought today, “I haven’t cut my legs shaving in a couple of years.”
Before, as an obese person, I either couldn’t see the darn things and had to contort, or the skin was “not tight” and the razor would skip and snag.
I no longer have to contort, and my now-muscled-and-taut legs shave smoothly.
There’s also less real estate to cover. 😂
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.34 -
Bought a size xl in a shirt…first time since 2008! #nsv29

I have several. I don’t have to shop for “tunics” to cover my bum. I went down a panty size. My blood glucose dropped 30 points. Lastly, my husband wakes up when I get in bed and here we go again!24

Today I lived my teenage dream. At 38 years young, I totally rocked a crop top and bell bottom jeans. I finally feel confident showing my midriff.35

Reading this thread for inspiration as my workouts have been decent but I've proven you can't out run/walk bad eating habits. Back to logging my food.16

I don't know if this counts, but today I was grocery shopping and kind of just getting whatever looked good. And I was looking at it... and it's basically all 'healthy' food. I used to live off of frozen, heavily processed, animal meat based meals. And it feels really good to see that my tastes and preference genuinely have changed into something that makes this sustainable and easy for me. I'm coming up on the first year anniversary of when I started calorie counting, and I could never have imagined where I'd be last year. I'm so proud of myself.

Clothes are feeling a bit loose. I need a belt for my jeans to wear them now.16

Got up at 5 and went for a run - don’t even recognise myself 😆

I need to buy new bikinis because my bottoms come off when I do my turns swimming laps in the pool 😱😂16

My most recent NSV is being able to completely wrap my arms around my husband to hug him! The extra fat had been preventing me from being able to get close enough to him to wrap my arms around him.23

I walked even though it was raining and humid17

NSVs today: 1. Removing the bra strap extender because I don’t need it any more!!! 2. “Shopping” in my “too small” clothes pile and finding workout pants that fit now!!!!25
-
Finding myself being able to walk longer without getting out of breath23
-
Walking over 14,000 steps and still being ok. Taking off my scratchy bra extender and the bra fits right.17

It's been two months since I posted here. I am FINALLY out of the Obese category....NEVER to be seen again! I am currently OVERWEIGHT with my mini goal to lose 4 pounds and get out of the 170's.32
-
I finally stopped cheating myself and decided to actually, properly, fully commit to losing this weight once and for all, instead of trying to "game the system" as I have been doing for years. I set a concrete, measurable goal with a deadline (get out of the obese range by July 1, 2024 which means I need to lose a total of 101.9 lbs).
I'm doing this by using MFP to plan my meals ahead of time. That's the piece of the puzzle I was missing: I had previously used MFP but merely to track my food after the fact, which didn't actually stop me from going over my calorie count. It's so easy to convince myself that "this thing can't have that many calories" and by the time I would enter it into the tracker, it was already turning into more belly blubber Now I plan out my food plan for each day, and I measure/weigh everything. I'm on day 3 and even though I'm vaguely hungry some of the time, I don't feel tempted to overeat because I know exactly what I get to have, and when.
The upshot of all this is that I feel optimistic and in control for the first time in ages. I know I can do this, because I see the details black on white instead of having some vague concept of what I "should" be doing (and might perhaps someday actually do, if the stars ever aligned just right, lol).29 -

Your new approach is a very good one. It's a lot harder than just tracking what you eat, but it assures you're going into each day eyes wide open. Congratulations!
Over time, you may be able to go back to logging everything afterwards, but for now, pre-logging will really help your learning process about how many calories each thing has. You may even find yourself substituting things for other things that work better. Slowly and surely, you'll get a better handle on things.
Now the only thing you have to make sure of is to not eat beyond what you log. I bet you can do it!5 -

Thanks! Honestly, so far I find pre-logging easier and less stressful. No more wracking my brain at the end of the day, trying to remember what I ate. (I first used MFP long before apps were a thing, so I had to keep track on a piece of paper and then enter the data whenever I got to a computer.)
And yes, I've definitely made adjustments already. One thing I have learned is that shallots are basically candy, lol. Onward!

My most recent nsv is a quarter inch loss around my neck! 😉 I used to have bad sleep apnea which has really improved.....so it's nice to see the fat comes off everywhere.22

I'm in my mid 70s and for years have used the safe "get off the floor like a toddler" for getting off the floor when I exercise. The other day I realized that I was getting off the floor like a normal adult without even realizing it. Have no idea when I started getting up normal but I know that with more light weight traning I am much stronger.27

This one is huge for me. There’s this denim skirt I have as my “I’m thin enough” marker. When it fits, I’m an ok weight. Having got into “healthy” BMI last weekend I finally plucked up the courage to try it on.
It wasn’t even tight.

When I got up yesterday morning I noticed that my legs feel thinner, and my pants fit more loosely. I was carrying a lot of water weight on my hips & thighs and some of that is gone now. Later in the day I realized with amazement that I can simply get up from my reading chair now, instead of having to peel it off my butt first20

After 4 months of prep I finally completed my first 10k marathon today 🥹37

Recently, while on vacation I walked 24 000 steps in one day. I could never have done that a few months ago.29
-
I had to buy a new belt. I made it past the shortest hole in the old one.25
-
Major drop in blood pressure where I think I will have to talk to the doctor about getting off my last blood pressure medication.22

Attended my son's graduation from Army boot camp. After I left for home, one of the drill sergeants asked my son who the man with the super muscular arms was. Upon learning I was his father, the drill sergeant said I looked fit enough to beat out half the young pups who just finished boot camp at half my age.28

Paddled ~5 miles in the bay today on my paddle board. That is considerably further than I've gone in the bay yet.20

Eating better is making the skin on my face clear up and look brighter!26

I have two pairs of blue jeans from like 8 years ago that I kept hoping to "someday" fit into again. Apparently today was someday! Slipped on easy, zipped up and everything.29
