Why is it so hard to cut back on carbs?

    What foods are you trying to cut out precisely? And/or what is your carb goal and calorie goal?
    Going low carb isn't for everyone, but you don't necessarily need to eat low carb to lose weight.

    As long as you stay within your calorie goal, get enough protein, and a reasonable amount of healthy fats, carb level isn't universally very important IMO.

    Some people have a health condition that requires managing carbs (such as diabetes), so it may matter to them.

    Some people find that carbs spike their appetite, or that eating low carb tanks their energy level, but that's kind of individual. If you notice something like that, obviously, you'd want to tweak your carb intake accordingly.

    One thing I'd caution is not to target aggressively fast weight loss, because that will make all of nutrition unnecessarily difficult, not to mention affect energy level, compliance with calorie goal, maybe exercise performance, and possibly more. As a general rule of thumb, I'd suggest not trying to lose more than 0.5-1% of current weight per week, with a bias toward the lower end of that range if not severely obese.

    i had a very thin friend who practically lived on nothing but carbs - it seemed like almost all he ate was pizza, candy bars and breakfast cereal.

    unless you have diabetes, PCOS or something like that, you can cut any macros - as long as you eat less calories, you will lose weight.

    btw, i am diabetic, and when i need a snack, i tend to have some nuts or pumpkin seeds - they're very low in carbs and yummy. i also eat lots of homemade popsicles made from calorie-free soda and replaced rice with riced cauliflower, which has some calories and carbs but nowhere near as much as rice, potatoes or pasta.

    Cause carbs taste good. But it really is about staying in deficit if you want to lose weight. PORTIONING is the issue with most people.

    I feel ya dude. I’ve been tracking macros for a year. I’ve learned that I have no problem hitting my carbohydrates each day, the protein is a much bigger struggle than I thought it would be. I like protein, till I found out nuts don’t really count.
