Well our fridge died on Friday (no that's not the NSV). As I was lugging two 20lb bags of ice into the house (no..that's pretty cool that I could do that, but not the real NSV). I realized that at one point in my life I weighed about 40 lbs more and I was carrying those bags of ice around every day..now THAT'S my NSV. I didn't realize just how much a difference it was.22

This is the best thing I've read on here in a while, and I've read some pretty awesome stuff. I hope you're super proud of yourself for getting past all that fear and anxiety, and finding your strength and happiness in so many different ways. Hope you have an amazing hike with your friend, and nothing but good things coming your way. Congratulations, that is a lovely NSV. I joke that I've lost my cat twice at this point (he's 13 lbs and I've lost about 26 lbs at this point). It's funny because when I pick him up my knees buckle a little I can't wait to lose the rest of the herd of fat cats I'm carrying around with me, hahaha13 -
I accidentally touched my leg, and now I can't stop I hadn't noticed until just now, but my skin has gotten super soft! Amazing what decent nutrition can do for the body lol15

Completed my 6th 5km race of the season and I set a new Personal Best time of 27:08!22

Not there yet, but very much looking forward to my tummy not poking out of the bath water when I take a bath. Also looking forward to not having my tummy be in the way if I try to bend over.14

I travelled for like five hours with my dad yesterday and we didn't stop for food. We stopped to use the toliet and I went for two walks and three runs! Despite my weight I have discovered that I can run for thirty seconds at a time!18

I joined a small, gentle aerobics class for older women and I love it. It makes me feel sooo good.21

I’m a little bit obsessed with anime (weird for a middle aged mom, I know.) Last winter I took my daughter to a crazy thrift store and in a pile on the floor I found this really nice, thick, high quality Attack on Titan Scouts sweatshirt. I LOVED it and new it would have cost me at least $55 - $60, but it was a medium, and kind of a small one at that. I tried it on and *barely* got it over my shoulders and boobs. It was so tight I was in the dressing room, scared I was going to get stuck and have to have someone help pull me out of it lol. But, it was $15 and looked brand new, so I squeezed out of it and bought it, threw it in the back of my closet and forgot about it. Today I was cold and rummaging around in my drawers in the dark, and grabbed what I thought was my favorite beat up blue hoodie. I put it on, walked into the light and almost had a heart attack. I was wearing the AOT hoodie and it’s baggy and comfortable on me!! I didn’t even realize it wasn’t my old xl sweatshirt until I walked out into the light and saw it was green and not blue! I can’t believe it?!? Happiest day!35

Ran 5 miles on treadmill and completed via nose breathing. 0% mouth breathing. Was testing myself.22

Thank you so much! That means more than you will ever know. I am super proud of how far I’ve come and the obstacles I’ve gotten over in the last 8/9 months. It hasn’t been easy at times but I just kept reminding myself to put one foot in front of the other and keep my gaze fixed forward because as my good friend said yesterday (a quote from his mother) “All looking back does is give you a sore neck”
Oh and the hike was amazing, such a beautiful place and felt so good to be out and about in nature breathing in the fresh air and getting grounded15 -
After a few months of being sick and anemic, I took my first walk last night. It has been *feels like* highs 110-120 for a few weeks. Old me would have been like, "oh well, who cares? I have been sick forever, and will sit on this couch forever." But I did it, and feel confident that in a few months - I could be back to my walking self. Health breakdowns happen randomly, but then I CAN get back on the saddle. This is the first time I have had any kind of confidence in fitness!22

For 15 years, I worked out regularly until my life took a turn for the worse 4 years ago. I went through a separation from my wife, lost my dog, and my job, and had to relocate to three different countries in less than three years. I felt homesick and struggled to adapt to my new life. When I finally returned home a year ago, my first priority was to start working out again.
I began by exercising at home before joining a gym and trying to rebuild my life. I also took online courses in my field of study and found new employment. I set my life on track and decided to adopt a healthy lifestyle. I now engage in intensive daily activities five days a week, including weightlifting, cardio exercises (elliptical, treadmill, and indoor cycling), and cold/heat exposure, which involves taking a cold shower and using a sauna and steam room. I end my day with a 35-minute swim. I changed my eating habits and began practicing 18-hour intermittent fasting.
As a result, I lost 15kg while building muscle. I hope my story inspires anyone who thinks it's impossible to start over. All you need is the right mindset and dedication. Remember, nothing is impossible! Here are 2 photos I took today after my swim, showing my progress.

Today I'm bloated and up a couple of waterweight pounds. I feel HUGE compared even though I know it's just hormones.
So here's the NSV: I can still fit into ALL my goal weight clothes including the new sports bra I got last week that's my smallest size since puberty (a happy thing). So if today is my new worst, I'm still multiple sizes smaller than I was in my twenties. Woohoo!!24 -

I got two NSV's today!
First, I finished my water aerobics class. When I started I made a commitment to go to every class, no matter what. And I did! These classes have been a highlight of this month for sure.
Secondly, I finally got a comment on my weight loss When I started losing weight in June, I decided not to tell anyone "IRL" that I was working on losing weight. Wanted to see how long it would take for someone to notice and comment. Well, today (27.8 lbs later) it finally happened. My physical therapist (whom I see every week) told me to "keep it up with those water aerobics classes, because you're trimming down nicely." Which is funny, because while the classes are certainly part of my success, I certainly wouldn't have lost nearly 30 lbs in two months just by getting 8 extra hours of exercise, haha. Still happy someone commented, of course. But it's interesting to me that I've lost 10% of my body weight now, and seemingly everyone I interact with is completely oblivious to it.23 -
YES! Also when your stomach doesn't touch the steering wheel.

I think about 30 pounds loss is about when people do start to notice. Some may notice but not say anything. Give it a little whole and I better you start to hear "how have you managed.... " which they really are not interested in so my jaded self says give them a quick canned answer. 😂🤣😇 Congrats on your progress!
My NSV today was it dawned on me that I had changed something which really was quite bad into something quite good. I can remember as a teenager I loved to read and read and read. And I also loved to eat/binge while I was lost in a good book. It hit me this week that after 6 years of maintaining come Oct that I had found a really fun solution. I could go back to being addicted to reading and not become a hermit. All it took was for me to realize that walking and listening to a book on audible worked really well. 💡💡💡 So now, when I am hooked on a book, I can't wait to walk so I can keep listening.23 -
Today I was at work and a guy I've only seen like 3 times yelled "Hey you are losing weight...that was fast"!
I was able to put my socks on like a normal person because my stomach is shrinking17 -

Good for you! That’s awesome! Like you, I’m waiting for someone to notice… I’ve lost 21 since June, but no one has noticed (or at least they haven’t said anything if they did notice)… hopefully my time will come soon, like yours did!
My NSV today was wearing a new bra, that’s smaller in band and cup than I’ve worn in years! My old ones were getting ridiculous, so I bought a smaller one on sale just to see…. And it fits! Yippee!12 -

Hahaha that is so true! I've been pondering for weeks now what I will say when people start asking, because I know that most people don't actually care. Or, what's worse, they'll start to either pick on what I'm doing or tell me all about how they "could never," which I'm also not interested in hearing 50 times from 50 different people
Maybe I'll say "I made a food & exercise plan and stuck with it." or "I changed my diet." lol... I guess that sums it up! What's your canned answer, if you don't mind sharing? I don't want to sound rude but I also don't want to lay out the whole thing for people who ultimately won't care.
Congrats on your audio book walk epiphany! I also used to eat a lot while reading (and watching tv) and that is definitely not a good habit to have. Here's to many enjoyable and entertaining/educational walks!

Hey, congrats on your new bra, how exciting! I'm sure someone will notice soon. Maybe now that you have a bra that fits well, I bet that'll help with how your tops fit too... those little things can make a big difference in what people see when they look at you.

Honestly I have been in maintenance so long that I no longer get comments. Sometimes the "so that's how you are so small" when I refuse a donut or pc of cake at work but pretty much it's stabilized.
What I do try to do is from the other side. When I see folks have lost a good amount of weight I want to be encouraging. I try to pass on in a sideways manner the one bit of wisdom I may have gathered in my 65 yrs on this earth which is "the losing part may seem hard but it's really the easy part, the HARD PART is maintenance". I don't preach at them but I gently suggest and ask if they have a plan for when they reach their goal weight/fitness/size and if they haven't that it might be good to start working on that part.
I think sometimes they are surprised I don't ask the typical "how did you lose" question. Honestly that doesn't interest me.
I totally understand that it does seem to be the hard part to lose weight and it sounds like I am trivializing the struggle, but after having lost the same 10-20-30 pounds every few years since I was a teen, the only way to break that cycle is with a friggin axe. And that axe is called "your maintenance plan".16 -
Loving this thread! My NSV was dropping my A1C from 5.9 to 5.4. I had already been working on diet and exercise changes for 2 months when I got the 5.9 test result and sobbed to my husband "I don't want to be diabetic!". I kept chugging along for another 2 months and when I visited the doctor and asked her what more I should be doing to bring that number down, she said "Let get that checked again right now. I'm pretty sure your hard work has moved that number down". And she was right!14
