Hi all! My name is Danny and I am committed to losing 120 lbs over the next 12 months. I currently weigh 313 lbs. I started a training program with a personal trainer and nutritionist. I am interested in learning more about people's diets, exercise routines, and motivating each other here on myfitnesspal. I have been using the app over the last 3 days and have already lost 6 lbs (I was 319).

I know the early pounds are mostly water weight, but it has been nice seeing progress. I have been targeting a 1900 calorie diet, with a 40:40:20 split (protein, carb, fats). Realistically, it has been closer to 40:30:30, but it has seen some results. I am looking forward to meeting people to keep myself accountable, and to share any knowledge I gain through this experience!

Nice to meet you Deb! I like these older web forums, it is a nice change of pace for me

What are your goals? Maintaining weight, weight loss, bodybuilding, etc?

Hey Danny, what a big wonderful goal. You are a bit bigger than me, and those big numbers are more obtainable the larger a person is.

Back when I was really cooking, tracking, exercising, measuring and weighing everything, super motivated, I was losing 8 lbs a month. I think you can do 10 lbs/month. The first six months will be easier to meet that number, then the second six. But that's okay, you can do it!!

It’s definitely doable! And even if it takes a couple extra months to reach your final goal you’re still gonna feel so much better once the bulk of the weight comes off

Thank you Chris! My nutrition advice is coming from an ex bodybuilder, and I learned a lot from him over our sessions this week. The goal is going to be very basic exercises to build strength and muscle, while shredding weight by focusing on building lean mass. The food tracking has taken some getting used to, but it has been a major help. Luckily, I love to cook, so I make my own meals. I went to the store and bought a bunch of healthy foods to help maintain the 1900 calorie diet with healthy, filling foods. Coupled with the exercise and few supplements, 10 lbs a month should be achievable if I stick with it. I agree though, the second 6 months are going to be harder, as I will most likely need to adjust the diet to fewer calories to maintain the weight loss. I am committed to it though and I appreciate your kind words :)

Nice to meet you Steph! I agree, a few extra months will likely take me to the next level. I am going to try and maintain the 10 lbs a month. I bought a smart scale as well to track the weight daily. I’m excited with the early progress and confident I can pull this off !
