Pre-diabetic?

I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes w/an a1c of 5.8. I was on prednisone twice in the past 3 months. I had diabetic symptoms which makes sense because it happens when I take prednisone. My question is, could this be a false pre-diabetes. Is that even a thing?

I am actually in a very similar situation. I have asthma-2 flares in 4 months-on prednisone 2x and sweaty, thirsty, peeing a lot, sometimes dizzy and HOT HOT HOT. I realize that this could just be the prednisone side effects but they seem to be sticking around this time-2 months later. I have a rec for blood work a1c to be done and am curious about others results with this. Hoping for ok a1c but nervous.

If you were pre-diabetic, you are still pre-diabetic.
But prednisone can make your symptoms appear worse. It doesn't mean you are in full-blown diabetes.

My diabetic friends have better control of their blood sugar with a modified Keto diet. They eat more carbs than a full Keto--but significantly less than their normal meals. Doctors often prescribe the Heart Health Diet--which is heavy on carbs. For some people, it can cause sugar spikes to grow worse.

If the HHD doesn't work for you, talk to your doctor about trying a modified Keto to control blood sugar. It should ALWAYS be done with doctor input.
