I did low carb a long time ago. This isn't true for everyone, but it made me utterly miserable. It didn't last long enough for me to lose a meaningful amount of weight.
Starting about 8.5 years ago, I started doing this, when I was at an obese BMI (where I'd been for years - actually decades):

I still eat that way. I've been at a healthy weight for 7+ years since the initial loss. For me, it hasn't been super hard.
That won't be the right way for everyone, either, because no one thing is universally perfect. But it's an option to consider.
