Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse. A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

Some details about me:

I am 26M, 5'7" - a software engineer with a sedentary lifestyle.

This my second round. Failed the last round terribly due to different priorities as well as setting very high expectations. Also, gained around 3 kgs owing to terrible sleeping schedule and a lot of unhealthy meals. I was too much occupied with some renovation work that was going on. Had a realization today that nothing is bigger than my health so I need to get some healthy counterbalance on my health front.



My goals for the round:

Sleep on time - MAIN PRIORITY
- Start my sleep routine after 11 PM
- Sleep by 1AM
Follow a simple diet
- Morning - Peanut butter and fruit salad
- Lunch - Paneer wrap + salad + curd
- Evening - A bowl of fruits
- Dinner - Namak parantha with curd + salad + 1 scoop protein shake
- Have a peanut butter sandwich in case of late night hunger
- Limit Coffee Intake
○ No coffee after 6PM
○ Max 2 coffees per day

Since sleeping on time is main priority for this round - I won't be monitoring my weight. Let's see how this round goes.

Did I sleep on Time ?
- No. Ended up working late as well as couldn't sleep after that.

Did I eat clean today ?
- Nope. Ended up ordering some outside food since I couldn't sleep on time and felty hungry later.

What did I do wrong ?
- Working till late - thought it wouldn't affect sleep much
- Having coffee after 6PM

Next steps to improve
- Hard limit on work by 11:30PM
- Follow night routine
- Do not nap
- Have drinks alternative to coffee after 6 PM

Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
