    Success: Having the doctor say I need to exercise did motivate me. I walked every day except Sunday (rest day).

    Struggle: It's not easy getting the walks in. Lots to do this time of year. Lucky for me, the weather was clear.

    Successes/struggles of the week: Coming off a vacation, Thanksgiving, and my birthday weekend, my weight is very high right now, which isn't great. Hoping to get back down again before Christmas, but we'll see how successful that is as I tend to go up pretty fast with water weight retention, high calorie meals, etc. but it always takes at least a week or so to drop down again. Successes - I got 25k steps a couple of days ago, and have been making progress with walks with weighted vest (up to 20 lbs now).

    I've been maintaining 198lbs for 3 months now. I tried to build some muscle but it has been difficult. My maintenance is 3,900 calories. Eating 4,200+ gets old. My insomnia keeps me from recovering as well.

    Success: Maintaining weight even though I had several days off my eating plan. Was able to do a Zumba video for the first time since my injury in September.
    Struggle: It's not easy getting exercise in. Lots to do this time of year. I do believe it should be a priority. It's just not easy to follow through.

    Successes/struggles:
    Two weeks away from home, being mindful but still enjoying some cake, ice cream, and beer. I did get lots of walking done and some swimming in the hotel pool. Saturday weigh-in was 50.6 kg (up from 49 kg just before I left), so not too much damage done, still within my maintenance range, and probably still holding some fluid retention from the flight home.

    Successes/struggles of the week: Still above my range from the indulgences of the past couple of weeks catching up to me, but working on it. I'm still working my way through high-sodium and high-calorie leftovers, which doesn't help with water weight retention. Have gotten in 21.5k steps a couple of days ago, and will try for a lot of steps tomorrow and over the weekend as well.

    Success: Logged my food and went on my 1/2 hour walks on 5 days.
    Struggle: I have to give myself serious talks to convince myself to go on those walks when I have so many other things to do.

    Note: I broke my collarbone in Sept and my weight has been under goal ever since even though I wasn't exercising as much and eating more. Looking at the internet, it said that it takes more food especially protein when healing a bone. Interesting.

    @425Recess, I found that I needed to eat more – especially protein – after my hip replacement op. I was reliant my boyfriend’s cooking, and I ate quite a lot more than usual without gaining weight.

    Success of the week: Got back to the gym for some strength training and swimming. Kept weight in maintenance range. Got through a bout of DOMS that was the most intense and longest lasting that I can remember.


    Struggle of the week: I thought I had dialed the weights way back since it had been a while, but apparently not enough. DOMS kept me from doing anything but swim and sauna for five days. Holiday hours mean I can't go back until Tuesday. Watched the scale go up as muscle repair was in progress, but this was also a success because I knew it was temporary.

    @lesdarts180, thanks for the confirmation. It seemed to be true but I was surprised.

    Success: I got a new bathroom scale and was worried that it would show higher than my very old scale but the weight was the same on both. The new scale measures in tenths of a pound while the old one measured in halves of a pound. Interesting that the first two days on the new scale, my weight was exactly 115.0 (my goal weight). I like this scale. :)

    Struggle: I didn't well as far as tracking and exercising. It was a hectic week. Hopefully, it will be calmer this week and I do better.

    Successes/struggles of the week: It was not a great month weight wise between holidays and not finding time to work out much due to being busy at work. Will be making more of an effort next month to find more time for longer/more effort workouts and to cut back on eating out as much.

    Success of the week: Gave myself permission to drive to the coast to enjoy some 30-foot swell rolling up and crashing onto the cliffs. Watched from a safe distance.


    Struggle of the week: Ending the year above maintenance range, but not by much, so it's back to it. My weekly average weight the last week of 2023 is about six pounds higher than the same time one year ago. Oops.

    Happy with the way things have gone this year - lots of holidays, days out, etc, but weight stayed within my maintenance range.
