Still following the AF plan. No cravings past few days, no emergency drives to the market for chocolate. No fake AF drinks. The mental freedom of not thinking about drinking and the even-keel feeling I have going right now, I like. I'll keep going and just focus on getting it right today. I likely had a few low-stress days but it won't be like this always.
Last night I had 3 oz OJ with a heavy squirt of fresh lime juice and added a tablespoon of finely chopped fresh ginger for "zing". Chilled it, and sipped on it and it was actually quite enjoyable.
@lmlmrn, yum - bread is a great idea for the holidays. If it dries out, you can make tasty tapas with all that bread.
Note to self: if any negative thoughts come to me and they will (wine devil negotiating a drinking weekend or the weight devil fat-shaming me or really any other unplanned person or event that will push my buttons and trust me that all of the above WILL happen), I must go for a long walk to release these thoughts that don't serve me well and only function to de-rail me.7 -

December has been more challenging this year - first time doing LA around the holiday season (in 20 years)? I was very aware of my anxiety all day yesterday while trying to finalize a couple of gifts and what I want to do for Christmas Eve/day dinners. I’m a planner and normally have this pinned down weeks in advance. Anyway, that nice bottle of red I bought for Christmas Eve? Yep, it called my name all day and I opened it last night. Now have a lot left over and want to save it for Thursday night.
Sooooo, note to self…..when I’m too tired, hungry, angry or anxious it is harder to make good choices…..I will be more aware today.

Hi all, the season’s upon us! I have a few more small things to buy, and then I’m done. Getting an early start to bang most of this out before work today. My house is a mess, need to clean as well before my sis and BIL come on Saturday.
The combo of not doing LA this month, dinners out PLUS all the treats our patients give the office means my weight is up. It all goes to my menopause pooch. Not a good look on me! But oh, the homemade cookies! One guy makes his own hand-dipped peanut butter balls. Delightful.
So, I’ll be a cliche and join the ranks of millions who try to shed the weight and eat healthier in January. Between the alcohol and and the sugary treats, I cry Uncle!4 -
@lmlmrn I hope your new treatment protocol gives you some much needed relief so you can get back at the things you love to do!
@MissMay sometimes it takes being jolted to get out of our heads. That said, I never know what they mean by “when children are present” besides the obvious of kids getting dropped off/picked up. Do they mean school hours when the kids are inside the building? Or just when there are kids outside for whatever reason?2 -
Successfully AF last night! I was in bed at 10:00 p.m. and finished shopping for my last gift. Getting ready this am to volunteer and then will enjoy a luncheon sponsored by the organization (no A).
I’m so happy to say this is my last commitment before Christmas at my house! Stress is actually fading with many social obligations behind me. Also looking forward to taking some long walks over the next few days.

I realized I am starting to slip back to daily drinking. I need to get my head back in the game and it starts today. I was kidding myself that just drinking on the weekends was ok and I could stop at one. Nope Alcohol is a more powerful drug than I thought.
The holidays are coming so I can't think of a better challenge for me than to abstain from alcohol from this point forward.

Oh I hear ya! It’s easy to slip back, is isn’t it? I’m in the same boat, slipped back into daily drinking. You’re so good about putting your mind to LA, I’m sure you’ll do great!

@xbowhunter woo hoo! I bet you feel SO good today!
I’m reading about slipping, and daily drinking again and also had several moments this month of OMG, what am I doing?
After a full day of commitments yesterday, I did have some planned Chardonnay and didn’t measure or count like usual.
Tonight is a planned AF night.

I just remembered some posts here from several months ago that talked about envisioning our ‘tomorrow selves.’
Thinking this mantra will get me through the upcoming holiday (and long) weekend.

Doing better with my AF days... :0)
Going out with friends tonight and plan to have soda water...
In my neck of the woods in Ontario the R.I.D.E programs are everywhere. I value my driving privileges and wouldn't even think about drinking if I am the DD. its unbelievable how many drivers are getting DUI's this week.

Checking in on Friday morning before going into the weekend. Have groceries to shop for today and need to get the house in shape for Christmas festivities.
Who needs to hear this besides me…….there’s still time to turn this ship around and rack up some more AF days this month!

@xbowhunter, cheering you on from afar.
Still AF here.
What's nice about a long AF stretch, for me, is that I don't think about drinking, I don't have to count anything, and there is no stress or cravings or anything. It's liberating to have my relaxed brain back.
I'm into 100% pink grapefruit juice, super-chilled.6 -

While shopping yesterday I ended up buying a few bottles of wine for the first time in forever. Honestly, I told myself I’m sick of counting and tracking and not going to stress about thinking about it for the next several days of this holiday season.
But this morning I have a change of attitude. And…..the scale was up. So, if my goal is to lose/maintain weight and have more energy I have to count and track because that is the only way I can reduce calories and alcohol!

Broke my AF streak on Christmas Eve and I saw it coming. I did not buy wine. Family brought over various bourbons, whiskeys and tequila and I wanted to sample all of it. Happy there was no hangover (that's only because the drinking started and ended early). Today I thought, it wasn't really worth the calories. But the food was worth it, all of it. Rib roast and mashed potatoes and too many desserts. Butter, bacon, and cheese and cream made it's way into everything somehow. My cholesterol must be like 500.
Today went back to my "AF normal" where I want to be.
Avoiding the scale till Sat. this way I give myself the rest of the week to hike A LOT and work off the food.

Too many drinks on a couple of those days but I am feeling ok with that.6 -
Happy day after Christmas.
Tooooo many days off from work. Got in trouble with another co-worker when we went out on our day off for lunch together and our private gift exchange.
I ordered a virgin pina colada to drink. BUT kept ordering appetizers for the two of us. I mean how many different ways can you eat avocados? Obviously many ways. We had freshly made guacamole at the table by our server. Then revisiting the food menu I asked my friend/co-worker if she had ever heard of or tried this appetizer (pointing to the item on the menu).
Well, that was a game changer in her life and she LOVED the avocado fries. Sliced avocados dipped in egg wash then rolled in panko crumbs and deep fried. Hold on, served with the most ridiculously delish aioli sauce on earth. oh yes please bring us a second order. We should have implemented the WAIT 6 minute rule on this hasty decision.
That was on Thursday. Friday morning getting dressed I thought maybe I grabbed the wrong jeans to put on. They were not dirty from the day before and I wore them to our lunch. Yet somehow they felt snug. DUGH AVACADO overload. LOL In addition to those, factor in the chips, salsa and oh yes another virgin pina colada!
OK now the drinking accountability.
Dec 23, 2 champagnes
Dec 24, 1 standard drink of some sort
Dec 25, ALCOHOL FREE Fever Tree cucumber
Back to AF is a great feeling.
Hope your holiday was merry and bright eyed!5
