73.25/80.00 miles goal
I wanted to spend about an hour on the treadmill today, but didn't want to run quiet as far as I did yesterday. Today, I did a run/walk of 4/2 min at 4.5-4.7/4.2, 4.8-5.0/4.0 mph. Avg pace was 13:12 min/mile. Avg HR was 134 with a max of 151 bpm. I may just make my 80 mile goal after all.5 -
I forgot to comment @Laurz9191 that flooding is CRRRAZZZZY and I hope you can get to do your race after all. Seems like flooding in Europe and other locations but the Panama Canal is reduced traffic due to drought which is strange. I always kind of thought they used the 2 oceans to fill it for ships and such but what do I know. I guess I could google it right? 🤣4

polskagirl01 wrote: »I've got one to add to the weird dreams... I don't think any of you were in it, but potentially you all could've been there because it involved running...Last night I dreamed I ran a 5k. Except the course was measured wrong and it was short (ended up maybe 4k). But also my watch got accidentally paused during part of it and I didn't know how many loops I had left, so I may have gone around an extra time. Either way, the whole thing took me 15 minutes (definitely a dream 😆, I've never been that fast). Anyway, running & racing felt good. My kids had set up a tent in the spectator section inside the race loop. There was a stage with various things going on, but I wasn't paying attention to that. I laid down in the tent for a while until my husband showed up and was ready to go. So we started packing things up. Then the wind picked up, and our packing got a bit more hurried. Then there was a sound that started out like thunder, but kept going and got louder and louder, until it was definitely not thunder. I was searching for my shoes and trying to get them on, and looked out of the tent to see a bright orange light growing behind the trees. As the light got bigger, I saw that it was actually a volcano erupting. And then I woke up.
I guess my standard tornado dreams, and planes falling from the sky have got boring enough that they don't bother me anymore - I just realize "oh, I must be dreaming then, ok." Erupting volcano is a new one for me.
I guess the interpretation is, go for a run because the end of the world is on its way? 🤷♀️🤣

The Dream:I had a dream a night or two ago and you were in it. It was definitely you. I put it in a spoiler and wonder if that makes any sense to you.
You and I were out to dinner. The restaurant was a big, old, ornate house. We were in a dining room, sitting across the table from each other. I was impressed with the house and said, "This is an amazing old house. Very classy. Imagine what it would be like to live here."
You said, "As a matter of fact, I do live here."
I said, "Wow, this must be a great place to live."
Your demeanor changed. You stiffened up, got serious, and said, "No. This is not a good place to live. This is not a nice house at all."
And that was the entire dream. When my mother-in-law was alive, she was a firm believer that dreams had a meaning. Not so much for me. But it was interesting to me, vivid, and well remembered.
I do not do dream interpretation, I only impart what I see in behaviors. This is part of my profession as a Licensed Professional Counselor. So, all this comes from my perspective in 'watching' even 'reading' about behaviors. It is not right or wrong, it is what is 'seen'. This is by no means 'diagnosis' or 'judgement.' It is just my opinion of what I read/see.The house is not a house, it is @tarun_yadavA. The demeanor change is from the behaviors, negative vs. positive. On the one side, the house 'looks' good, but when you look inside the house, the house is having trouble keeping up with the 'looks'. The house runs for health, but the behaviors destroys the value, the vicious cycle of choices between healthy and unhealthy behaviors. Sometimes we have to make choices, good, bad, or indifferent. We also have to realize, we are models for behavior to all who care to see.7 -
Wow @AlphaHowls that is deep! But very insightful.5

This was more quick stride repeats. Fun stuff. Some consistency for a week or two is going to help. Have a good NYE weekend everyone.

Long run in the hills today but cut it short at 8 miles instead of 12. The weather was fantastic and the first few miles ticked by quickly. Then around mile 5 I started feeling some tightness and twinges in my calf and Achilles, the same one that had tendonitis last year. It wasn't bad and probably was just a weird nothing that would have gone away but I decided not to take the chance. My race is 2 weeks away and I'm not gaining fitness at this point but could do some damage that would derail my goal. Time for some TLC today and I'll see how it feels later. Right now it feels fine. I'll do some foam rolling too as it's possible the sensation wasn't threatening tendonitis but just muscle tightness.8 -

LOVE THIS NEWS!!!! Also so smart for you to keep an eye on that heart rate. That always tells me just how healthy my innards truly are.6 -
Closing in on the end of Dec already. CHilly weather here but apparently it is going to get colder next week so enjoying the runs while I can. After yesterday's 7 I decided to keep it short today at 5K. It was definitely nice out. upper 30's and crisp but no wind and clear and bright. Sometimes it's just so beautiful I can't pick one photo from my walks later,
109 miles exact?🌟🌟🌟 out of 110 goal for the year

@AlphaHowls Great News!1
-
So glad you're on the mend @AlphaHowls!2
-
I’m happy for you @AlphaHowls! Great news!
I like your NYE plan @emptydog!
This morning I went on a 7.1km run. I didn’t really have time for it with our visitors here and all, but I needed to buy breakfast bread at the bakery anyways so I ran there (via a large detour) and back (via another large detour and carrying a bag of food) to get a bit of distance in. Tomorrow is sausage race day- and NYE. Have fun everyone!
So far 139.5/160km for December. I am not going to make it to 160 but I want to be within 10kn from my goal . So my 10k plus warm up/cool down will be plenty.7 -

@AlphaHowls so glad you are feeling better! Now you can go into 2024 strong!
@martaindale very smart decision to cut your run short. I'm sure it is nothing to get alarmed about, but better safe than sorry. Take the next weeks up to your race as a taper and you'll be ready to go!
@emptydog that sounds like a great New Year's Eve plan.
Got in a HM this morning. Perfect weather in the low 50s and very light wind. Ended up being 3rd fastest HM ever. So ending 2023 on a high note
Had a lot of accomplishments in 2023:
Personal Records in HM, 15K, 10K, 10M
Running Distance records: 3 months had over 200 miles, keeping streak of 100+ miles/month alive at 24, 2163 miles for the year
2+ years without injury (this is the most amazing of them all)
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!! See you in 2024

@SummerSkier I thought that is how the canal worked too. Great speedy run today and love all of the pictures.
Great job on the strides @chris_in_cal .
Nice run @daria0919 .
Great job on surpassing your monthly goal @project9percent . I'm glad you are active with a local running group too. When you say FINAL POST, are you meaning final, final or final for the year? I hope it is the latter. We will miss you if you don't come back. Happy New Year to you too!
YEAH @AlphaHowls ! I'm so glad you are able to be around people again and feeling some better. I hope you get back to normal soon!
Great running and listening to your body @martaindale ! Hopefully it was just because you were running hills today.
Nice run today @emptydog . I hope you get to run as planned tomorrow night.
Great use of your time @Laurz9191 . I don't know how you ran with a bag of groceries though. Good luck on your 10K tomorrow!

77.50/80.00 miles goal
I did another treadmill run this morning. It was tough today - my legs just didn't want to work. So, I didn't do the long run that I thought I might. I did do a run/walk at 6 x (3/2 min at 4.6/4.0 mph, 3/2 min at 5.0/4.0 mph, 3/1 min at 5.0/4.0, 1 min at 6.0 mph, than finished at 5.0 mph. Made my avg pace 13:26 min/mile. Avg HR was 127 with a max of 155 bpm. I'm pleased with the time. It did feel a bit better after the first 25 minutes.
I looked back at my year total. In order to make a nice round 80 miles for the month, I'll just need 2.50 miles tomorrow, but, I currently have 1,010.51 miles for the year. So, I think I will try to get in 3.49 miles tomorrow (normally my one mile walk rest day) so that my yearly total will wind up at 1014...even if it makes my monthly total 80.99 miles, which I cringe at. Back in August, I had some bad running math, and wound up with 80.01 miles for the month. Gotta make that up, I guess.5
