How can I add walking my dog to exercise?

    I use either walking at 2.5 mph or walking at 3.0, depending on how slow he was moving. Our actual moving pace is faster, but we stop a lot so he can sniff and pee.

    You may wish to verify against distance and time. For example, if without the dog you are consistently 3 MPH, check your time and distance and adjust accordingly. For example, if you walk a mile but it takes 30 minutes instead of 20, just input 20.

    If you don't have a stand alone pedometer, but do have a smartphone, it should be able to track distance. My fitbit and iphone differ, and I assume my fitbit is more accurate, but perfection isn't necessary - consistency is.
