Happy New Year everyone!
I'm brand new to this community and just wanted to say hi! I want to make 2024 my best year yet and part of the plan is to get back on my bike and lace up my trainers.
Hopefully I can build the blocks which will allow me to complete in the Tokyo Marathon in 2025. This app and its wonderful supportive community will play a big part in reaching that goal.
Good luck to every one of you! ❤️👍41 -
Hello everyone. I hope you don't mind my dropping in. I'm looking to reduce body fat. It has snuck up and it feels awful. I will partner BlackRose77772015.19

Happy New Year!
I want to stop playing games and return to my fitness routine.
I've had back-to-back surgeries since June last year, most recently yesterday.
Making sure I was committed, I started my journey on Christmas Eve, and as of this morning, I am 8 lbs down.
I would love a friend to help push me through because some days are tough.
I have more to go to achieve my goal! Please message me if you are interested.
We have mutual goals and can support each other.32 -
I also follow Kylea G. Weight loss Journey on Facebook. She is great and love her recipes!12

Hello everybody and Happy New Year
I’ve hung around MFP for a while but never got serious about it. Recently quit WW again (and again and again …)
I’ve been an emotional eater for as long as remember. My desire to get back to a normal size has not gone away. I really appreciate this forum. Hoping to be celebrating a successful weight loss by 1 January 2025! (It’ll take that long)36 -
I am taking the small steps of working out for 1 hour 5x- 6x per week and entering my food and exercise in my MyFitnessPal diary.25

I've started my plan early November. (which is get fitter, leaner, stronger and lose a bit of weight in the process). I'm not about bulking up, getting huge muscles or anything, I'm after functional strength for the most part. I deliberately did that to try and be in a habit by the time christmas and new year celebrations over eating/drinking hit, so that I could try and stay on that approach throughout, I mostly managed fairly well. I didn't lose any weight, didn't gain any either over this period but have systematically started to increase exercise intensity, and made small tweaks to my calorie intake too as I went along to try and find the sweet spot. Now one week into the new year, tomorrow is weighing in day (I weigh, and I take some measurements) to track the changes. I do that once per week, sunday mornings before breakfast. Fingers crossed, hopefully I find that first pound off. :-)13

Hello! Happy New Year! I just turned 40 and I want my forties to be my Fit and Healthy Era! 2024 is Year 1. Therefore, using MFP is a great resource for this journey.16

New Year, fresh start! Aspiring to be a healthier and happier version of myself. Logging keeps me accountable and being type 2 diabetic tracking natural sugar is an eye opener. No need to add to those numbers with treats. Small Steps is really helping so hoping to get more inspiration from this group. Thanks to Kate. Big fan.6

I'm trying to walk 5k steps minimum every day. This is in addition to my gym workouts. I have a desk job, so I need to move intentionally.14

Howdy from Central Texas! My small step is logging water.
I have been fighting obesity since around age 8. I was over 300 pounds multiple times.
I lost 100 pounds twice only to gain it back. In 2014, I lost 70 pounds and opted for gastric bypass to help my chances of keeping it off. Which I did. Until the pandemic. I gained 50 pounds! I also developed an unhealthy alcohol habit. I got that under control (with a lot of education and support from Women for Sobriety) and since October have been applying those principles to my Life Threatening Problem of obesity. I understand the disease model now. No cheat days. Insulin-dependent diabetics don't get to ignore their diabetes on "cheat says." They manage the disease every day or suffer serious consequences. Same rule applies to obesity. Manage the disease every day. So far, I'm back down 42 pounds. 8 pounds to get back to 1/1/2020! MFP is part of my daily obesity management and I hope to eventually help other folks struggling with morbidly obesity to figure out how to manage this aspect of their lives.14 -
I began making “small steps” in September last year by committing to 15 minutes of walking every day and now I’m at 30 minutes a day. My goal is to limit snacking to fruit and vegetables. This is the hardest thing because as the day progresses, my willingness to keep to the plan diminishes, then guilt seeps in. But I am making progress! I’ve managed to lose about 20 lbs and my energy level is more consistent throughout the day. Wishing everyone luck in 2024!14

Have a question when creating a recipe - where do you put the directions for the recipe? Have created a few but with no instructions.0
