Hello! Happy New Year! I just turned 40 and I want my forties to be my Fit and Healthy Era! 2024 is Year 1. Therefore, using MFP is a great resource for this journey.16

New Year, fresh start! Aspiring to be a healthier and happier version of myself. Logging keeps me accountable and being type 2 diabetic tracking natural sugar is an eye opener. No need to add to those numbers with treats. Small Steps is really helping so hoping to get more inspiration from this group. Thanks to Kate. Big fan.7

Hello everyone! I was a member for a long time, but now back at it again. I am passionate about diet and exercise, by profession, am an Engineer. In my free time I run a toturial YouTube channel for Marine Engineers, making relaxing sounds for sleep, exercise and other things. My goal is to be healthy and to help other people achieve the same!12

I'm trying to walk 5k steps minimum every day. This is in addition to my gym workouts. I have a desk job, so I need to move intentionally.16

Hi Everyone, I’m trying to get my motivation back after christmas. I was doing quite well before December. I’d like to loose the weight i’ve gained after having my 3 kids over the last 8 years. I also want to get fitter and stronger.8

Howdy from Central Texas! My small step is logging water.
I have been fighting obesity since around age 8. I was over 300 pounds multiple times.
I lost 100 pounds twice only to gain it back. In 2014, I lost 70 pounds and opted for gastric bypass to help my chances of keeping it off. Which I did. Until the pandemic. I gained 50 pounds! I also developed an unhealthy alcohol habit. I got that under control (with a lot of education and support from Women for Sobriety) and since October have been applying those principles to my Life Threatening Problem of obesity. I understand the disease model now. No cheat days. Insulin-dependent diabetics don't get to ignore their diabetes on "cheat says." They manage the disease every day or suffer serious consequences. Same rule applies to obesity. Manage the disease every day. So far, I'm back down 42 pounds. 8 pounds to get back to 1/1/2020! MFP is part of my daily obesity management and I hope to eventually help other folks struggling with morbidly obesity to figure out how to manage this aspect of their lives.17 -
I began making “small steps” in September last year by committing to 15 minutes of walking every day and now I’m at 30 minutes a day. My goal is to limit snacking to fruit and vegetables. This is the hardest thing because as the day progresses, my willingness to keep to the plan diminishes, then guilt seeps in. But I am making progress! I’ve managed to lose about 20 lbs and my energy level is more consistent throughout the day. Wishing everyone luck in 2024!15

Have a question when creating a recipe - where do you put the directions for the recipe? Have created a few but with no instructions.0

Hi everyone, Happy New Year. I am starting over AGAIN. I can never seem to make any healthy eat choices STICK. I know I feel better when I eat better, but I get so tired of good foods. Now I am not talking crazy restrictive "diets", I just get sick of meat, veggies, and fruits. I do indulge from time to time so I don't get "diet burn out", but I get into such an eating rut10

I've been in here awhile - I just recently got serious about it last year. I did noom and lost almost 50 pounds (gained 10 of that back during the holidays) and I've recently started the Mediterranean diet because my Dr is trying to help me lower my cholesterol and triglycerides with diet and exercise 🤞11

Trying to get back in the groove. I need to loose 50 pounds and get more active. Could use some inspiration. The diet plan as of now is to lower carbs to keep my blood sugar in check.9

Happy New Year, everyone! I want to make changes to my life that will overall improve my health and future. I want to be the best version of myself, for myself! Since the pandemic, I used food as a coping mechanism and I let it get out of hand. Now, I want to focus on building a healthy routine, by making better choices in the food I eat and starting up an exercise plan too!7

I don’t usually join in these groups, but I am trying to get to a goal of feeling better about myself. I’m kind of stuck where I currently am, I started last July and lost about 10 pounds. I didn’t completely gain everything back during the holidays. I tried to stay mindful, but where I am is where I pretty much was in September. I dance between 3 - 4 pounds, but cannot seem to move into the next 10 pound range. I’m planning on exercising more, started a new regime, hoping it will spur my metabolism to take a jump toward my goal. I’m 67, so I have that working for me too. I’ll keep trying. Thanks for being here, you’re all amazing.8

I agree!! I do so good during the day and then cravings sneak in before i go to bed. Good luck!! 😊4

Definitely I want to lose the weight I re gained (I lost a lot of weight before) Most importantly I want to love myself more and feel comfortable with who I am as now and who I am going to be in the future. Just to be okay with my skin and body. I know if I change my mentality, being healthy will come along. I just want to have control over my life instead of feeling small and unlovable.5

I hope everyone had a good day. I did pretty good on exercising but I still over ate. Slow small steps. I did cook my dinner this evening instead of get fast food or something that just needed warmed.up.1

Both legs suffered ruptured quadriceps tendons from last year so working back slowly. Need some inspiration as so keen to lose weight. Come and say hi and happy to support as well. 2024 here we come. 👍😀6

My small goal is to record each day what I eat and stay within the weekly monthly goal.
Big goal is to lose weight and not gain any weight. The biggest goal is to work out at the ymca twice a week.4 -
Would love some friends on here for motivation and support. Have been on here a few times but am wanting to finally make the change in my life that I need to feel better about myself. Feel free to add me (no clue how to add others 🤦🏻♀️)3

Today is day 684 of my workout commitment. Missed a total of 15 days in that time due to health limitations (Covid, Heat, Air filled with smoke from Canada, dental work). Had absolutely no weight loss goal. Goal was purely for vascular fitness at age 59/60 due to discovered problem during ER visit. Lost a total of 40 lbs, without any diet changes. Stalled at 190 lbs for almost a year. Used this app to identify problem areas (fat intake, low protein intake) never having considered any of it before. I eat the same regardless, just nice to know why I stalled if I ever decide to add diet to my health plan. One of my problem areas is sleep (Gulf War Vet) and now sleep apnea. All I can say is after all these years of babying injuries, lack of movement was the cause of the weight, not my food choices so much. Just keep going, My top weight when I retired in 2006 was 256 lbs. Weight when I started working out was 223 (2 yrs ago this coming Feb). Weight now 182. I was so bad in the beginning it was just 2 minutes on an elliptical and I was huffing an puffing for air. Now I can go an hour (again, I'm almost 61 now). If I can change anyone can. It was easier to blame injury than to do something constructive about it. Now it's a habit, I don't miss days working out ...even leaving family picnics to make sure I got my workout in before midnight. Good luck to you all, it's worth the effort!13

Big wins start with small steps! 💪 Swap tips and motivation with other 2024 goal-getters.
It can be tempting to try to overhaul your whole diet and routine in the new year, but big, sudden changes aren’t usually the ticket to lasting change. Hello everyone. I'm back after a long hiatus of knee surgery and subsequently gaining back all the weight I'd lost and then some. My small steps are to make a point to stay active with on purpose exercise albeit lower impact than before! I am also upping my protein intake (or trying to), and have lowered my carbs. The scale and I have never been on speaking terms 😆 and so clues from the mirror and clothing will be my guide. For me, the scale moves extremely slowly and its depressing so I'm not looking at that. 🫣
Praying for us all. Blessings on your individual journeys! 🙏7 -
Hi I'm new here, and so far so good 1 week down, 2.5 lbs, and 27.5 more to go. Happy new year everyone!4

It's been a couple of busy days. I've not had time to check in with everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. I'm doing better still a long way to go but I'll get there. I'm still doing PT on my leg. She's working me hard I went from 5lb weights to 10lbs today doing leg curling and 3lbs on leg lefts. I'm getting stronger I can feel on stairs. I have another month then I'm on my own.2
