@globalhiker CONGRATULATIONS! Wow, wow you should be so proud of your accomplishments!

I listened to a neuropsychologist from NYU speak on Doctor’s radio a couple of days ago (reflections of a Dry January) and he explained something really interesting.

His opinion is there are many, many, many levels of alcohol consumption (from occasional, and mild to excessive and serious) and his research indicates that individuals fall into one of four buckets of what they get out of drinking. They are: high reward, low reward, high relief and low relief.

I know I am mostly high reward, meaning I include wine (associate with) fun and celebrations and the act of drinking escalates my reward of doing so. Doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a good thing.

Then I can fall into the high relief when I have used A to cope with stressful situations. I think a low relief person is drinking but not finding enjoyment or relief anymore.

I usually don’t like to quote things without citing the source so I’m going to see if I can find the research or article and share it.

Have a great weekend my LA friends.

Didn't feel that great this morning. Woke up with a headache. Haven't had that happen in a long long time, so I'm taking that to mean the alcohol is really out of my system after years of daily consumption. A good thing. Up and onward...

    Monday morning greetings

This month once a week if I so desire I am planning a drink night. I am going to plan it based on my work schedule.

Something I hate about having a few drinks with dinner is waking up (full blown eyes open, wondering if I should start cleaning the house) in the wee hours of the morning. I know I can't get back to sleep and I know my eyes are going to look puffy from not getting my 8 hours rest.

So if I plan my 2 drink limit on the night before I have a day off at work I will not have puffy eye anxiety.

Checking in with my Feb 2024 accountability_

    3-AF
    1-A (2 margaritas at Longhorn)

    Excellent plan! :)

Hope you all had a good weekend and sending encouragement to anyone who needs it.
So, last night I really wanted a Proseco while I cooked dinner, but mindfully decided to open a Stella NA 0.0 and pour it into a heavy blue wine glass from Mexico. My little angel won! 😇. It was very tasty, so pretty and happy I stuck to my plan.
I slept all night and am now ready to tackle my to do list today.
    Post includes AF tonight!

    February Goals:
    AF - min. 18 days
    A- max 11 days
    Limit: 2 glasses 🍷

    Actual:
    AF - 3
    A - 2

I'm one of those people who happen to think Valentine's Day is the stupidest "holiday" on earth.

I used to feel that way when the goal was to buy people stuff. Lately, I’ve been pondering the power of love in the bigger sense. The world is badly in need of love today.

Lol, yes but it should be an every day thing, not only on 2/14 of every year. Hey, it's funny to me! At least it's good for something.
