    Congratulations to everyone who completed the previous challenge. I have not been able to continue posting daily so I admire your perseverance. Who can resist a round starting January 1st? Anyway, I want to lose as much as possible in this round.

    About me: male, 59, chronic yo-yo dieter. 43 percent on the way to lose 32 kg.

    I'm going with a starting weight of 81.5 kg which is what I weighed on December 31.

    Day 01 83.1 kg I'm tracking my intake and going for an average of 6,000 kilojoules. I'll post how much over that in total I am. I had a morning 45 minute walk, and it was raining in the evening so no walk then. My food was 6249 kilojoules so I'm over by 249, I want to get rid of that in the next few days.
    Day 02 82.7 kg, two 45 minute walks and intake is 5839 KJ food which means I have overeaten in total by 88 kilojoules.
    Day 03 82.4 kg, two 45 minute walks, 20 minute shopping walk, I ate 6584 kilojoules so I'm over by 672.
    Day 04 81.8 kg, two 45 minute walks, I ate 5306 kilojoules of food so I under ate in total by 22.
    Day 05 81.9 kg, two 45 minute walks and 40 minute shopping walk, I ate 6472 kilojoules so I'm overeating by 450 kilojoules
    Day 06 81.4 kg New Low, lowest weight in 5 years 1 month, I delayed tracking my intake until late in the day, 7276 kilojoules eaten so I'm 1726 kilojoules over what I should be, that's going to take a long time to get back to zero, no biggie though, two 45 minute walks.
    Day 07 81.5 kg, two 45 minute walks and 40 minute shopping walk, I ate 6148 kilojoules so I'm overeating by 1874 kilojoules
    Day 08 81.2 kg New Low, I had a sugar fest to celebrate writing in my daily planner before midday 8 days in a row. 13,269 Kilojoules eaten which is huge and would typically take months to recover from however my girlfriend and I will soon be doing the diet prescribed in Effect of an Intermittent Calorie-restricted Diet on Type 2 Diabetes Remission: A Randomized Controlled Trial which will include a bit of under eating so I'm not bothered by that. Total overeating 9143 kilojoules which is equal to 260 grams of fat. I did a 45 minute walk and 40 minutes shopping walking.
    Day 09 81.8 kg I did two 45 minute walks and a 20 minute shopping walk. I ate 8461 kilojoules which is high again. 11,604 kilojoules overeaten. Had a packet of salty food which will cause problems tomorrow. I've got 10 days to lose to a new low weight because I want another week added in my 'Lose weight every week challenge'. So it's time to eat less.
    Day 10 82.2 kg one 45 minute walk and a 20 minute shopping walk. My overeating is 11499 kilojoules which is too much.

    Day 48 80.7 kg New Low, I had a good day, 35 and 55 minute walks, eating just under suggested amount. So the bad news is that I am one day off (based on tomorrow's weight) from achieving another week in the Lose Weight Every Week challenge. So I didn't lose weight this week. I did achieve 16 losses in a row, which is pretty good though. No one else did the challenge recently so I won't continue with it anymore.
    Day 49 80.0 kg New Low, two 45 minute walks and 40 minute shopping walk. I ate a medium sized pizza which meant my eating was way over today. My last pizza until goal weight (unless the scenario of anyone specifically wanting to have pizza with me, in which case they'll have to pay for my pizza I ate today, unlikely).
    Day 50 80.4 kg Two 45 minute walks
    Day 51 80.5 kg 20 minute walk, celebratory meal day
    Day 52 80.9 kg 2 45 minute walks, I'm 12,000 kilojoules total eating above what I should be, that's probably going to take about a month to get rid of. There are NO "compulsory" celebratory meals for the next 8 months, I'm now giving myself a challenge of not eating more than 6000 kilojoules per day until goal day. This is a serious challenge now, you know how hard it is to eat less the day before a birthday celebration? I don't have any of these type of overeating days ahead of me. I can't use the reason of other people who slow me down. It's just a battle with myself now. I just checked 771 days of tracking and the longest period I've gone below is 13 days so it's a bit iffy if I can do about 185. Anyway, let's see.

    @noynoyavery Let us know your thoughts on the Berberine as you go along. I have read some things on the supplement but have not tried it. I am on so many meds including Metformin for T2D so I would have to talk to the doctor first, but have been mildly interested.

    Thoughts:

    While other challenges may show bigger losses (or gains), it really depends on what date you are looking at with me because I do go up & down quite a lot, especially with my frequent required day trips. However, from Jan 1st through Dec 31st, I lost 16.0 pounds in the full year of 2023. That is what I have lost and KEPT OFF. While I am very proud of that, I know that the road ahead is long and will be a difficult one since I still have so far to go and so many health related obstacles in my way. Each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I can make, no matter how big or small. I am also grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.

I got very hungry very late last night and when a handful of almonds didn’t do the trick I made a healthy low cal / low carb sandwich. It put me over on my macros and was too close to bed. But I’m very proud that I didn’t find “off plan” food to fill my belly. Today I am eating the same things I ate yesterday as I have leftovers for lunch and then a whole other leftover dish of another type for dinner. I will try to change my eat times later and hope I won’t need another sandwich tonight! I just want to get rid of those on-plan leftovers!

    Day 55-02/24-178.2-(Trend weight 180.1) I was hoping for a bigger drop but there was those leftovers yesterday…. While “on plan”, it was the higher end of “on plan” because it contained some pasta in the casserole. Time to move on to some lean and mean today. I went shopping yesterday in my local grocery store. What the heck happened to the price of eggs (again)? My store is selling the regular store brand for $3.39 per dozen! What did I miss?

    Brand new year! Of course going to try to take off some greasy pounds.

    Day 50-02/19 - 143.4 - Wow, somehow dropped a pound!! That has made my day! I have been working at this for so many years, and have almost felt like giving up because it seems like I just don't lose any weight no matter how "good" I am. This loss will motivate me to keep on keeping on : - )

    Day 51-02/20 - 143.0 - I just don't get it, but glad to see a downward trend. This after 3 days of linguine and meatballs, followed by Bratwurst last night. Maybe all of the salad that I ate with the pasta? Don't know. Maybe I am just due to get another injection into my ankle, like it is wearing off. I do suspect that my increased weight happened after starting to get the injections. My workout/eating patterns really didn't change much. Having said that, I don't normally eat any pasta. Jambalaya out of the freezer for tonight. Day 5 of 2 jobs per day, just one for the next 2, which means that I can go to the public ice skating after work tomorrow at the arena : - )

    Day 52-02/21 - 142.8 - Wow, I almost can't believe it. I normally only lose about 1 pound per month, and over the past year have only gained each 100 days. Maybe all of the work that I have put into this is making my body finally give up some weight? Who knows, but I sure am happy to see some downward movement on the scale for a change!!

    Day 53-02/22 - 144.2 - Ouch. Good day, burned a whopping 1023 calories between skating, Fitness Marshall, and walking. Huge salad with dinner, so perhaps it will take a few days with my very slow metabolism to even out/come out lol. I think that the big difference was that I didn't have breakfast until 1:30, which was a blood orange and half of an apple. Nothing more until dinner. I usually have a piece of toast in the morning, just ran out of time. I will be sure to get that in to fire up my metabolism for the day.

    Day 54-02/23 - 145.2 - Bummed out. I have been averaging around 1200 calories per day with quite a bit of calorie burn. Contemplating Ribs since I haven't had my once every 100 days Rib feed.

    Day 55-02/24 - 145.2 - Ah, 2 complete days off, I took them off, body is hurting and I am just way too tired of 7 days per week working. My house is a disaster since I have barely been home. Going to putter around, listen to the radio, do a bit of cooking, and ... have some Prosecco and Camembert this afternoon. Not losing weight anyway. Not throwing caution to the wind, but going to treat myself.

    Day 56-02/25 - 145.8 - My big plan on taking days off from one job because I had those off from the other job was to go to public skating from 3-5 today, which I normally can't do because I finish one job and run off to the next. However, my body was in so much pain yesterday and today. I am just going to rest and stay pretty much at home with ice packs and the like. Barely any activity yesterday, unlike me, but all of my joints were hurting too much, even for Fitness Marshall or a walk. Raining here today, so I feel like such an old person when I say that I can feel it in my joints lol.
    Very disappointing on the weight front, during the week I hit the lowest I have been in over a year, and now the highest. I am just going to stay in, drink coffee and do some cooking. One more day of rest before I go back to 7 days a week again.

    I'm sorry to hear you are feeling such soreness. Hopefully it will resolve soon. Maybe the day off will help. I thought about your drop in weight in the middle of the week and I was wondering if you were still eating your rice most days (or at least several days per week). You said it seemed to sweep your insides and I wonder if that had anything to do with the losses. Perhaps these new gains are not necessarily true weight or fat, maybe you are just not getting totally cleaned out again. Just a thought.....

    Rice is a no-no for me pretty much although it is better than potatoes or bread (on the starch front anyway). When I need a good cleaning, I take a magnesium oxide tablet. It does the trick everytime although it really doesn't help up the actual magnesium levels in my blood. Other types of magnesium supplements are better for that than the oxide one. Of course, I am retired now so it is much easier for me to take something to help with that than it probably is for you. You are away from home so much more than I am.

    Anyway, I hope being kind to yourself today will help you to feel better quickly.

    Today was not a clean eating day. I fell and got banged up pretty good yesterday. I chose to eat poorly today while licking my wounds. But tomorrow is a new day and will get back on track. Poor food choices did nothing to make my pain better and I'm sure the scale will be a big reminder of that tomorrow.
    Food is not a pain reliever, anti depressant or therapist, it is fuel to keep my body running! That is it's only job!

    Thoughts:

    While other challenges may show bigger losses (or gains), it really depends on what date you are looking at with me because I do go up & down quite a lot, especially with my frequent required day trips. However, from Jan 1st through Dec 31st, I lost 16.0 pounds in the full year of 2023. That is what I have lost and KEPT OFF. While I am very proud of that, I know that the road ahead is long and will be a difficult one since I still have so far to go and so many health related obstacles in my way. Each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I can make, no matter how big or small. I am also grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.

What the heck happened to the price of eggs (again)? My store is selling the regular store brand for $3.39 per dozen! What did I miss?

    Random stuff about me:
    I am 59 years old this month (ouch). I currently live in Texas with my hubby and crew of kitty babies. I am a neonatal nurse practitioner and work 24hour shifts in a busy NICU. If it looks like I disappear on random days…that’s why! About 10 years ago I lost 135 pounds. Never made it to goal but just sort of leveled off at ~200 pounds. Over time I gained back nearly 50.     65 years old. 5' 8". Started back in March 2023 at 85.5 kg, down from my all time highest of 100 kg (220 lb) Since participating in the last two 100 Day Challenges I'm down to 70 kg (154 lb). My aim this time is to drop another 5 kg and reach my ultimate goal weight of 65 kg (143 lb) - and keep it off for the next two years at least - hopefully forever!

    Day 01-01/01-- 70 kg. Waist 30.5 ". Hips 40 "

    Day 02-01/02-- 70.2 kg. This is like investing for retirement in the stock market. The advisor told me 30 years ago "Think long term. Don't chase high returns for quick gains - aim for slow and steady returns. Don't worry about daily fluctuations - as long as you stick with it the overall trend will be upward." Happy now I took his advice.
    Found a jar of Kalamata olives in the pantry. Delicious! but I'm trying to limit myself to 4 daily. And yes! - I already got rid of the cheese and crackers I'd normally have with them.

    Day 03-01/03-- 69.9 kg.

    Day 04-01/04-- 69.6 kg. who would've thunk there could be marshmallows in the pantry and I am only eating two per day?! Sloooowly breaking the impulse to Eat All The Goodies Quick while they're around because Lord knows when there'll be any more - food insecurity issues from childhood.

    Day 05-01/05-- 69.5 kg. Yay! Hit my 1st week goal already - just have to maintain for another two days rather than going off the rails and over celebrating with treats to reward myself for losing the weight.....

    Day 06-01/06-- 69.8 kg. I started knitting a lace scarf last month. It is very fine yarn on tiny needles, and I can only work on it in daylight. For the last 4 weeks I have been knitting 8 rows a day, and now my scarf is 22 inches long! I was feeling very proud of my progress and thinking it was a good lesson in perseverance with the weight loss plan as well. Well! so today I went to pick it up and somehow - pulled out the needle! Oh, ye knitters of the world, weep with me.....

    Day 07-01/07-- 69 kg!!! Ummm.... this maybe TMI, but has anyone ever weighed themselves, then needed to go, then felt a strong desire to weigh themselves again - to see how much they dumped? ....not to boast - but, 0.5 kg? like, over a pound? Wow.

    Day 08-01/08--69.8 kg.... ???

    Day 09-01/09-- 69.2 kg. Grandma used to say "What you gain on the swings you lose on the roundabouts." I'm guessing this was originally an allusion to the old style carnival where you paid to go on the rides, but maybe the barker was also running some kind of "chance to get your money back" gambling dodge as well? Anyway, it seems appropiate to eating for weight loss - cut out a slice of bread here and lose some, drink a can of soft drink "just this once" and gain it back.

    Day 11-01/11-- 68.9 kg. I'm always hearing "eat protein for breakfast" and "breakfast like a king", but I just can't do that. A big plate of bacon and eggs always leaves me feeling uncomfortably full, weighed down and heavy. I just don't want to go for my usual morning walk, whereas a bowl of oatmeal, or a couple slices of wholewheat toast, with a piece of fruit, fills me until lunchtime, while still feeling light and active. I'm thinking there are many cultures where no, or just a light breakfast is the norm - it's really only the last 200 years in the Western world that 3 meals a day has become the norm. Even in the 60s, when I was a kid, snacking was not the usual thing - there weren't all the granola bars and cheesy chippy things we have today. I'm wondering how much of being told what we "should" eat, is actually real science based, and how much is funded by food manufacturers who want us to buy their products - how many orders for pizza delivery have been placed after seeing an ad? and deciding then "I'm too tired to cook".

    Day 13-01/13-- 69.2 kg. We are having a heat wave and it's exhausting to walk outside. Also I'm on medication which makes my skin more photo sensitive, so no to being lots in the sun. Fortunately, my appetite has decreased with the heat and I don't feel like cooking, so lots of raw fruit and veggies are on the menu.

    Day 14-01/14-- 69 kg. Some cookies and chips came ..... into my possession. "Them that asks no question, isn't told a lie. Watch the wall, my darling, while the chocolate cake goes by." So I just ate the treats (about 800 calories) and nothing else.

    Week 2 Goal: 69 kg.
    Week 2 actual weight: 69 kg. So no net loss or gain this week, but still on target.


    Day 15-01/15-- 68.8 kg. I want to knit a sweater for myself and I'm in a dither over what size to make. I know I'm 2 dress sizes smaller than I was, but I need my actual measurements. And then I need to work out how big the completed sweater will be and how much ease I want - I don't want "sweater girl" negative ease, but I don't want baggy oversize either, since I still have a little more weight to lose.

    Day 16-01/16 69.8 kg. I found a big jar of mayo at the back of the fridge......I would have taken it to the food pantry, but it was already open....spent the evening gorging on mayo and cucumber sandwiches. No, I regret nothing.--

    Day 17-01/17-- 70 kg .....Well, the rest of the mayo is gone - I hate to waste food, but, yes, it went down the sink - and the fiber in all the wholewheat bread has worked, so here's to a drop on the scale tomorrow.

    Day 18-01/18-- 69 kg. Hopefully back on track.

    Day 19-01/19-- 70 kg. Is it the scale or is it me not being super careful over tracking? I am perflummoxedcombobulated! Maybe my body is telling me it's happy at current weight and doesn't want to go lower?

    Day 20-01/20-- 70 kg.

    Day 21-01/21-- 69 kg. Weather has been super hot and I think I may have eaten something that's gone a bit off - been feeling unwell for the last 24 hours.

    Day 24-01/24-- 68.4 kg. I was given a fruit cake today - a whole 500 grams (over a pound). I try very hard not to buy sweets and baked goods or keep them in the house, but free food is fair game..... I ate it all in 2 hours ..... I'm thinking with Lent approaching I need to give it up completely - at least for long enough for my taste to change.

    Thoughts:

    While other challenges may show bigger losses (or gains), it really depends on what date you are looking at with me because I do go up & down quite a lot, especially with my frequent required day trips. However, from Jan 1st through Dec 31st, I lost 16.0 pounds in the full year of 2023. That is what I have lost and KEPT OFF. While I am very proud of that, I know that the road ahead is long and will be a difficult one since I still have so far to go and so many health related obstacles in my way. Each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I can make, no matter how big or small. I am also grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.

    Day 57-02/26-180.2-(Trend weight 180.2) TMI would help but that’s not the whole reason….. It was a very very emotional day yesterday and I ate those emotions last night. It didn’t help.

    Day 58-02/27-179.4-(Trend weight 180.2) I’ve been sticking to my planned meals for the last few weight-gaining days but struggling with the night time snacks. I’m happy to report that last night I had no problem controlling snacks. I ate the same basic foods/meals as the day before so I have to wonder….why are some days so hard and others so easy? Part emotions? Part boredom? Part old habits kicking in? I dunno but I do hope for another “easy” and good day today. I need to be more securely planted in the 170’s if I ever hope to begin inching toward the 160’s. Incidentally, if can get below 174.4 I will be my lowest weight in 17 years. Where did the time go and why has it taken me so long?

    A few more salad heavy days, like the previous week, bloated me up and then it all went away. I am not eating my own salad, but Safeway had the salad bags on for $1.49, I bought 4, but accidentally 2 were coleslaw lol. I am eating them anyway but need to take a break from them for a few days.
    Yes, I need to get back to incorporating rice more again. It won't be today though.
