Hello Everyone! I'm back! I've spent the last year and a half taking care of my Dad who broke his hip at 92. He moved in with me, and I've done virtually no exercise and have eaten poorly all this time. He's still here, but I have got to make some changes! So I came back to the group who provided so much accountability and support in the past. I haven't weighed yet, but I will in the morning. Started back on MFP this morning and have gotten in my exercise. I'll post again in the morning!11

2/26- 167.3 There's a slight chill in the air tonight and despite wearing wool socks, I can't seem to shake the cold. Good excuse to tuck into a warm bed just a little early.
2/27- 167.2 My husband and I have lost almost half our dog between the two of us at 31 pounds combined. Also, the store had ground turkey packages on sale for $1.99 because the use or freeze by date is in the next week, so I grabbed three of those. We actually prefer turkey tacos to the ground beef ones, so it was a good find.

2/29 167.8 Another good night, but I've stayed up past my bedtime reading.
3/1-167.3 Got off work a little early and took the dog to the dog park for an afternoon treat. Impromptu date night with my husband after. Ate at maintenance for the day, but I was 300 under goal yesterday which will help. Read and fell asleep early.
3/2- 167.6 Helped my sister start moving today. Articfish blackened salmon tonight and I'm back on track with calories. We're out so I need to go to Costco and see if they still have more.6 -

65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 252 (my 182nd). Thank you @quiltingjaine for keeping this going, so grateful.
Goals for this round; to lose! Scale has been a bit erratic the previous round, obviously reflects rate of consistency (or not!). Must concentrate on consistency in the next round, really want to get back down especially as at the moment the choice of my clothes that comfortably fit is limited, do not want to have to buy a bigger size!! And to break the “always looking for something to put in my mouth” syndrome!
Good luck everyone for a successful round.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

Yesterday was a sedentary day of meetings. We capped it off with a visit to Logan’s Roadhouse to spend a gift card (of all reasons.)
We have somehow collected too many unspent gift cards. I think retailers like gift card sales for this reason. Actually I don’t know how gift cards are handled in their books so I shouldn’t jump to conclusions. I do know this; someone paid Logan’s $25 for a gift card years ago (pre-covid) and they got to hold the cash until I bought a meal last night. They have also discontinued the practice of serving free peanuts in the shell, so that was a benefit for them …and me.
By the way, they were short staff like so many other businesses these days.

My functional exercise yesterday was helping DM to get ready for moving day today into a smaller apartment. The move today will be my exercise.
Last night was a monthly meeting of a few people who all used to work for the same company. Not all worked there at the same time, but we have a common bond. And the company no longer exists. I would call it an alumni association. All that to say I had a Reuben sandwich and fries washed down with a couple pints of Guinness. A festival of salt with not much water yesterday to wash it away.
The place we met at this month fancies itself an “English Pub.” It was started by an Englishman 20 years ago or so and does a decent job with décor and menu, though I have never actually been to England. (Some Day) It is located in a strip mall so there is a lot of Illinois involved here, and perhaps it is too well lit based on my impressions made by UK television shows (like Endeavour.) The pub caters to the soccer-loving crowd (not me) so there is usually a game on, even if it is prerecorded. They open off hours for a lot of live matches in Europe and of course the World Cup. I usually don't have the time to respond to all the inspiring posts here, but it's a quiet Sunday morning, so I have a few extra minutes!
@Leigh_b3/2slight uptick but still hanging on to <150 and happy. Anticipating another uptick after today's long but should settle back in a few days. 12 miles today. Was the longest ive run since my last marathon in December 22. Sadly, not anywhere close to the pace I used to run that distance….but at least i got the distance. Distance first, pace second. Ill worry about getting faster after i can get myself through another sucessful 26.2.
@SheilaBoneham I'm a newbie here, only found this group in December. I wish I'd known you all were here years ago- it's changed my whole perspective about where I am and what I'm doing. For years I looked for somewhere (and someone) with whom to share my struggle with this. Your insights, now and since I joined, have helped me tremendously. Whatever you decide to do, thank you so much for being open and honest about your own journey. I think I've realized that this "struggle" with my weight is only partly about physical wellness and much more about how I feel about myself.
@Chapter_3 more inspiration from you, as you often do for me. The thought that "disappearing" from a group in which you've been involved for some time (even if semi-anonymous), can leave the remaining people feeling a little unsettled, uncertain and concerned echoed my own growing connection to those in this group. Thank you.

@deepwoodsladyI feel so much in common with @judefit1 right now! And it is amazing how so many of us can bounce up and down and all around the same weight for quite some time before seeing a new weight that sticks. It makes the weight loss take so much longer but, at this point, I’m grateful for any response as a plateau is horrible.

Girl, I get you! I don’t track and log because it was disordered eating for me. Obsessive and restrictive. “Cheating” or “sneaking” created weird shame and disappointment. I started purging to control all of it. Total mess!!! I know tracking works for a lot of people but I also know it doesn’t work for me.
You know how to eat, you know yourself. Our weight is more then just calories it’s our social, physical and emotional body.
Also I was part of this group for almost two years (different screen name) and left for very long time. I genuinely missed certain members but there was a lot I needed a break from.
No one is actually a better person because they ate 1100 calories instead of 2100 but you might just be a better person if you spend the day gardening.

Today we're off to NYC for our annual 4-birthday celebration tradition- My partner and I, his daughter and my 2nd daughter all have March birthdays. 10 years ago we started taking them to NYC to do something fun and have dinner at what has now become their favorite Italian restaurant. We surprise them with what we're doing, which used to vary, but in the last few years has been a comedy on Broadway. This year is "Spamelot", which I missed in its first incarnation. It's always a special day- the "girls" (in their 40s now) really love each other but are always super busy with work and families, so this time together is a real treat for all of us. Food consciousness will be challenging as the restaurant is "family style", but I'll watch my portions and skip the (delicious) bread :-)8 -

Yesterday was a sedentary day of meetings. We capped it off with a visit to Logan’s Roadhouse to spend a gift card (of all reasons.)
We have somehow collected too many unspent gift cards. I think retailers like gift card sales for this reason. Actually I don’t know how gift cards are handled in their books so I shouldn’t jump to conclusions. I do know this; someone paid Logan’s $25 for a gift card years ago (pre-covid) and they got to hold the cash until I bought a meal last night. They have also discontinued the practice of serving free peanuts in the shell, so that was a benefit for them …and me.
By the way, they were short staff like so many other businesses these days.

My functional exercise yesterday was helping DM to get ready for moving day today into a smaller apartment. The move today will be my exercise.
Last night was a monthly meeting of a few people who all used to work for the same company. Not all worked there at the same time, but we have a common bond. And the company no longer exists. I would call it an alumni association. All that to say I had a Reuben sandwich and fries washed down with a couple pints of Guinness. A festival of salt with not much water yesterday to wash it away.
The place we met at this month fancies itself an “English Pub.” It was started by an Englishman 20 years ago or so and does a decent job with décor and menu, though I have never actually been to England. (Some Day) It is located in a strip mall so there is a lot of Illinois involved here, and perhaps it is too well lit based on my impressions made by UK television shows (like Endeavour.) The pub caters to the soccer-loving crowd (not me) so there is usually a game on, even if it is prerecorded. They open off hours for a lot of live matches in Europe and of course the World Cup. I like to track averages due to my wild fluctuations. For the same reason, I like to weigh daily so I can see the lows from time to time. It gives me hope.11 -
I'm so glad I can just jump in at anytime in this group. My goal the rest of this round is to get back to habits that help me gain some modicum of control over what I put in my mouth and how much I move my body. I'm shifting my priorities away from being obsessive about my quilting (which has been my therapy since Dad moved in with me) and caring for Dad, to taking time for my health which has really suffered the last year and a half. Dad is much more self-sufficient than he was a year ago, so I have to get back to a healthier-for-me lifestyle. I can't take care of him if I don't take care of me!

I'm Crystal! 40 yrs old, wife and mama of 3 (ages 14, 13 & 5)! I counted calories about 5 yrs ago and got down to goal weight. Life got in the way and I stopped being mindful and gained it all back. What I've realized from then to now, is that this truly is a lifestyle. I can't eat any way I want and expect to keep the weight off. At the moment I'm doing OMAD (Started Feb 5th). I'm unsure if I'll stick with this my whole journey or if I'll add another meal for 2 meals a day. I'm also trying to keep my calories still within the 1200 range and watching sugar and carbs. I feel so much better since I've cut back on everything. Once I do get to goal weight, of course I will add some calories back in to maintain.
