3/1 14.17 miles, Crazy Laps! Cold drizzle
There are days I sometimes feel one step away from my back going out. I have had issues for many years. I knew I had osteopenia developing in left since about 2016 (bone scan). So, I finally decided to get official x-rays. I have already seen it at my chiropractic office, but needed it at my primary doctor.
RESULTS:There is mild diffuse levoscoliosis centered at the mid lumbar spine.
Otherwise, alignment is anatomic. Disc space heights are
maintained. There are mild sclerotic facet joint degenerative
changes inferiorly, left-greater-than-right. Cannot exclude
osteopenia/osteoporosis. No compression fracture deformity is noted,
and remaining visualized osseous structures and soft tissues are
within normal limits for age and technique.
IMPRESSION:
1. Mild scoliosis.
2. Cannot exclude osteopenia/osteoporosis.
3. Mild sclerotic facet joint degenerative changes inferiorly.
4. Otherwise, within normal limits.7 -
I did my first ever parkrun this morning, it's part of an effort to improve my overall speed. Since moving to the country over two years ago I have done no speedwork and it's definitely affected my pace.
I completed it in a respectable time, 27:54, but that's about 40 seconds per kilometre slower than I was running a half marathon three years ago! My first goal is to get back to 25 minutes for 5k.11 -
@AlphaHowls Your results seem pretty good to my none medical eye. So Well done lady! Osteoporosis is huge problem for women but difficult to figure out the correct care4

On the board for March with 6 decent miles this evening.

@TheMrWobbly That's awesome that your work organized workouts with you and I think you did great on your HM!
Thanks @Laurz9191 . Glad you had such a nice run today.
@AlphaHowls I don't know what all of that doctor speak means, but it looks like a pretty good report to me. Glad nothing major was found. And, I was told that weight bearing exercise (running) helps the muscles to stay strong. I would say you are the poster girl for that!
Sounds like a great run to start the month @ContraryMaryMary .

1 Mar - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 mile - treadmill
1.00/85.00 goal
I worked for 4 hours at daycare, in the middle of the day, ran some errands, and made a long phone call after I got home. It was getting late by then and I needed to eat so I could take the antibiotics, so I just did a one mile walk to keep my streak going.6 -
I am trying to figure out what my M race pace should/could be
https://lukehumphreyrunning.com/hmmcalculator/race_equivalency_calculator.php
This one is good. I have used the Hansons plans for training and the paces have been spot on. I trained for a 2:02 HM and finished in 2:02:06. I know his name isn't Hansons but this is the coach for that program.3 -
No running yet this month. My stomach has been queasy for the last 2 days. Not sure what's going on. I'm still not really eating normally and the idea of jostling around sounds terrible. I was planning on a short run tomorrow but I'll have to see how I feel in the morning. I may just end up going on a walk.10

@chris_in_cal hahahahaha! Consider it the (Cricketing) revenge for pushing the (Baseball) phrase "Curve ball" into everyday work lexicon6 -
Morning all
Got in 5 (09"41).
Double-Header (triple??) today!
B-i-L birthday... So family lunch (booking for 12.30 - so lunch not brunch! Haha!). Which on it's own would have just been an unhealthy meal... BUT... Out tonight too... So will probably indulge in a cocktail or two!
Evening - friend's birthday drinks. (My side, not wife's)... but friend's wife is doing a surprise so it's a mixed thing. And she's picked some stupid *kitten* fancy cocktail place. So cocktails again in the evening. Like 15-20 quid a drink kinda place. Ugh.
However, sandwiched in-between ... (because we live in Central London, the venue is in Central London but all these guys are in the London overspill 'burbs) one of my friends sans wife is coming over. (His wife can't make it).
We're gonna catch-up over a few cans 🍻 at mine before we head out!
(Much to wife's - "great. That'll be a fun Tube ride with you two!" Haha).
So that's me... Starting 2024 with a heavier-than-ushe one! Already popped a couple of Lanzoprozoles (don't know what the American/German/Kiwi equivalent is!).
Committed to running with 9year old tomorrow... So shall be doing a slowish hungover run! Lol
Have a nice weekend all.6 -

I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well @martaindale . I hope you feel better tomorrow!
@tarun_yadavA Boy, when you got off the wagon, you go way off! Happy Birthday to your BIL. I'm glad it is a lunch and you aren't forced to have the dreaded brunch today. At least if the cocktails are expensive, you'll be less likely to overindulge there. Not that it will matter if you are already going to be "lit" on the way over. Do have fun, but try not to get too crazy. We don't need the passed out on the table episode over again. LOL I'm glad you are committed to running with your son tomorrow. Oh, BTW, I looked up Lanzoprozoles and we call it Prevacid....acid reducer.2 -
March goal - 30km
March 1 Run 3km
March 2 Run 5km yay!6 -

Good luck with the kid tomorrow. May he smash you into bits with a burst of youthful energy and speed the likes of which you've never seen, leaving you breathless, exhausted, and proud.

10 miles this morning. Started off at a lovely 57F, but it warmed up quickly and felt really hot. But it was a pretty good run.
12 -
01/03 4.55 miles
02/03 4.15 miles
Total 8.70/50 miles
Todays run was better so the stretching has helped. Dakota was in strange distracted form today. He usually trots happily beside me but today he was crisscrossing in front of me & almost tripped me 3 times. He had plenty energy though but something was bothering him.
Hope ur enjoying ur day @tarun_yadaA. The Old Fashioned is my new favourite treat drink but only on special occasions.

@AlphaHowls amazing start March! Way to go!!4 -
Here for my second Monthly challenge of the year.
Goal 85 miles:
3/1 - 2.82 miles
3/2 ‐ 12.01 miles. This is the longest distance I've run since completing my last marathon in Dec 2022. Feels good to be FINALLY building my mileage back. Sadly, it is not even close to the pace I used to run this distance 😕. Trying not to focus on that too much. Distance first then I'll work on pace. 85 days = 12 weeks until Marathon day.

March total: 4.1 miles
YTD: 205.3/1200 miles
3/2: 4.1 miles
Everything seemed back to normal when I woke up this morning so I went out to the Greenway trail. It's only been a week since my race and I'd been feeling poorly the last couple days so I knew I needed to keep it slow and easy. I planned for 6 miles on the equestrian trail. Before I finished the first mile I knew 6 wasn't happening. I settled on 4 miles. It wasn't fun but it's done. I'll definitely keep runs short for the next week or so and make sure I recover. I'm not racing for several months but I have some fun races coming in April and May. I'm working on adding some runs to the calendar towards my 50 states count.9 -
Page three and finally decided on a goal - 100 miles. This month I am going to focus on mixing it up. Long runs, sprints, lower heart rate runs, etc.... I see everyone is using the shamrock ticker. LOL. OK - I will play.
I am also recommiting this month to my 10 min strength arm workouts. I did good July thru Jan and then NOTHING in Feb so back to it. I think I might try to do them daily just to make a habit and if you can't find 10 min you are wasting on something else... right?🧐
This mornings run was nice. I knew it was going to be short after yesterday's 7 so I set my watch to "pacer" and ended up with a 9:29 per mile 5K. Pacer was set to just under 10 so I think that is a win. We have a LOT of skunks out this year. Maybe the warmer weather? I have seen them. avoided them and smelled them on almost every run
Speaking of Prilosec. that is a really good thing for kitties. 1/4 tab dosage for upset tummies. My Lil Bit who was injured has been a barfer since she was a kitten. If I give her some there are days she does NOT barf. Her injury seems totally healed (after what 2 weeks?) wish we healed that fast. And the shot she got for her arthritis really seems to be getting her moving and playing a lot more. I may try it for another month or 2 just to confirm.

12k in the forest this morning. A bit of a slog but I had a friend with me who helped distract me. Windy and super humid here today - a big storm front is coming in.10
-
@Mari33a I'm glad that Dakota didn't make you fall. Wonder what was bothering him? Great run otherwise.
Congrats on the long run @Leigh_b . You're training seems to be going well.
@martaindale You are doing great and sounds like you are making the best decisions for recovery.
Great run today @SummerSkier . Better late than never. I never thought to give Prilosec to pets. I'm glad it has helped Lil Bit and glad her leg is better.
It's nice to have friends to run with @ContraryMaryMary . I hope the storm doesn't cause any damage.2 -
1 Mar - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 mile - treadmill
2 Mar - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 2.00 miles - driveway laps
4.00/85.00 goal
Today I decided to experiment a bit. I've been in a running funk lately and am trying to get myself motivated. So, I ran the first mile without any walking breaks....including the hills. I managed it in 12:48 min, which isn't too bad for me. I walked a couple of minutes to recover and then finished the next mile with a 1/1 min run/walk...running faster, just to see how the pace would be. It was 13:33 min. Still not horrible since I walked half of it.10 -
Morning everyone! ... Or, Afternoon even!
Well I ran 9 miles. (09"29). Unplanned. Struggle Bus at first... But got easier as I went on. Change of scenery too... Ran into Central London rather than my usual loop of Canada water (I did finish with a loop on the way back because I felt like I had bags of energy!).
@quilteryoyo @chris_in_cal thanks for the US equivalents. I've heard of Nexium!
Yesterday was heavy. A LOT of drinking. Mixing too. Whisky cocktails then beers... Oh, And something called an Yuzucello thrown in (pan-Asian take on Italian Limoncello).
Must've been around 3 or 4 am... Woke up and I swear my stomach felt like it was burning. Popped another couple of those Lanzoprozoles with some milk and went back to bed.
Just 0-100mph teetotal veggie to loads of booze and meats, fried, spices chillies etc etc.
Anyways. Good night. Didn't get in trouble with the wife this morning either! #win
Anyways. Feel great after a nice long run and change of scenery. Weather was great too!
Happy Sunday all.
PS: didn't run with 9 year old today. I did set his Strava up ... But he chose to run with his mother.13 -
@ContraryMaryMary a forest run sounds incredible. I have yet to try a trail run as I am always concerned about tripping. But my goal this spring is to find some more scenic routes!
Today will be my first run of the month. Aiming for 5 miles.
Hope everyone has a great upcoming week. Thanks for keeping me accountable!
