Walnuts, Shelled, in shell, what?

I have some walnuts. They are in their shell. I would like to log them as in their shell, because it is unlikely that I can un-shell them and weight them before I eat them all up.
I am confused because shelled is a word that means both 'residing in a shell' and 'having been removed from the shell' ... to me, at least. Haven't looked them up in the dictionary! But which one is the term I need if the walnuts are still inside their shell?

I think it means "removed from the shell"0

I will just compare weight of empty shells to original weight when I am done eating then0

I actually did the same before, just save the leftover shell, and take home with me. Same to a banana peel. :-)0
