Amazing run @eleanorhawkins. I can’t believe you did that extra leg. Insane. Impressive.
One thing I don’t quite get is how you were allowed to continue after you missed cutoff. In every event I’ve done with a cutoff there’s either a bus or van to take you back to base. Once you’re cut, you’re not allowed to continue on the course - usually for safety reasons. Is that not the case in Spain or was there special circumstances around this event.5 -
Morning all
Got in 4. (At 10"01).
@eleanorhawkins well done! That is amazing!
@quilteryoyo @SummerSkier yeah. Think Rest Day is imminent now. Wasn't feeling it today either. No particular knee niggles or anything like that. Just allround - Can't be bothered.
Think a lazy day with a big of Doritos watching a couple of Oscars-y movies on the couch beckons this weekend!
(so I'm upto speed and can have an opinion etc "I thought so-and-so was amazing in so-and-so..." etc etc)

Last night I took the kid to see Beetlejuice the musical. It was hilarious and both of us liked it better than the movie, which was fine.
I probably should have done a run this morning but I didn't want to get super sweaty and have to do my hair again before work. I am aware that this may be a weak excuse but in my defense, I have a lot of hair that takes forever to dry and I just did it yesterday. So I did a walk of about the distance I would have run. Walks are a nice break and I still got quite almost 5 miles in without getting gross.7 -
@eleanorhawkins what an amazing run!! Going to check out the website for some highlights. Adding a trail run through Spain to my personal vision board.
No running for me today as it’s pouring rain out and you will never catch me on a treadmill. But checking in nonetheless for accountability!

@ContraryMaryMary It depends on the race, there are a few that don't allow it but as a general rule you are allowed to continue, although the rules specify very clearly that if you choose to do so you are no longer their responsibility. Maybe if I had missed it by longer they would have been more reluctant to let me carry on, but it was only a few minutes, in fact I reached the finish well ahead of probably 20 people who had made that cutoff (yes... I asked them all as I overtook them in the second half!)
@martaindale as far as I'm concerned, all time on your feet counts as training!
I had a fisio appt this morning to pummel the kinks out of my legs so went for a gentle 20-minute jog first to see if anything in particular hurt more than it ought to. It didn't, and he was pleased with the state of my legs and gave me the green light to get back into things, so I'll be back in the hills on Friday10 -
Loved reading about your race @eleanorhawkins - you did great and certainly deserved those two medals! I couldn't understand a word in the video but that goat was so cute - it deserves a medal also.6

Not keeping up with everyone here too well so far this month but hanging in there with my running.
32.8 against goal of 100.
I am not much of a trail runner Probably because I have no acls anymore and tripping and falling are really a hugely BAD idea for me at this point. Give me a nice even surface please. But I can live vicariously thru those of you running the mountains and woods and trails!

05.03 4.5km 36min 8:06/km - 12 stride repeats
06.03 6.2km 51min 8:12/km - 10, 5, 5, 5min intervals
10.72km/80km, 5.0km behind
There you go. Another great run. Faster intervals of 10min and 3x5min. Not superfast overall but worked. And I'm proud of myself. No run tomorrow. I'm finally going to see Dune 28 -
Hey all! Haven't been feeling very motivated or chatty the last several days. Work has been kicking my butt, but I kicked back today so starting to get back to some state of normalcy.
Have been following all of y'alls fantastic running adventures and liking and hugging where appropriate.
Got in a good 10K tonight. Fairly successful making it an easy paced run. The 1st mile was probably the right target pace, 2 - 6 were too fast, but were very consistent.
Rain expected for the rest of the week, so we'll see how it looks for outside runs.

March Goal: 130 Miles
3/1: 3.55 miles
3/3: 10.25 miles
3/4: 3.35 miles
3/5: 7.02 miles
3/6: 7.04 miles
31.21/130 miles completed for March
It was a little chilly this morning, but really nice running weather. I got carried away and ran 7 miles again. I just really love running at daybreak. Today, for some reason, to keep myself entertained while running, I decided to count all of the pumpjacks that I saw along the way. There were 19. I knew there were a lot in town, but I was kind of surprised it was that many. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be stormy, so I am planning a rest day and will just do some yoga.

@martaindale Some days when I walk and don't run, it is for that very reason - don't want to sweat and get all yucky before going somewhere. I totally understand.
Sounds like a really quick recovery @eleanorhawkins ! You are amazing.
@yirara You are doing great! You should be proud of yourself.
I'm glad you kicked back at work today @Scott6255 ! Sounds like a nice run today.
Great running @kgirlhart ! I had to look up what a pumpjack was? I'm obviously NOT a Texan.

I walked a mile on the treadmill after work and before church. It's all the time I had.
I am very excited to report that I took the last dose of anti-biotics tonight! I'm so glad to be done with those and sure hope they did their job. I won't find out for sure for about a month.

I finally saw my osteo and had my right hip adjusted - feels so much better. Here’s hoping it makes for an easier run tomorrow.
Today’s wasn’t bad, but things are still harder than they should be and I was happy to find myself short on time and unable to do a full 8k loop. Settled for 5k instead.
1/3 8km usual loop, fastest in months
2/3 5km parkrun, 27.49 (my official starting point in the return to speed)
3/3 12.2km trail run, tired legs = slow second half
4/3 7.1km recovery run, niggly calf
5/3 rest
6/3 8km usual loop, a bit meh
7km 5.3km heartbreak hill return, more meh
45.5/160k for March10 -

Sun is out today! Getting some much needed miles in. I am going to go with my pup again. Hopefully soon she can get back up to regular miles. But I’m trying to take it very slow with her. Gives me an excuse lol!

I hope the adjustment helps your running feel easier @ContraryMaryMary .
Nice shorter run today @tarun_yadavA . Enjoy your evening.
Glad you had a nice sunny run with your pup today @codygirlfriday .5 -
March total: 17.6 miles
YTD: 218.8/1200 miles
3/2: 4.1 miles
3/4: 4.1 miles
3/5: 6.4 miles
3/7: 3 miles
Short pre-work run today. It was ever so slightly cooler, which was nice. Largely unremarkable except for the number of people I saw. On these pre-work runs I am out the door by 5:45 a.m. I usually see the same couple of people walking dogs and that's it. But today I saw like five or six or runners, several of whom I've never seen before! Who are all these new early birds!?10 -
@quilteryoyo I also had to google @kgirlhart ‘s pumpjack. Even though we did have some in California I suppose I would have just incorrectly called it a rig. In reading I supposed it must be a bird .
Today I went on an easy 10.5km. I used yesterday for recovery and definitely had niggles in various places from my long faster paced run on Tuesday. Also @quilteryoyo I immediately took a shower after that run. The spraying was like over 0.5km- so no way to hold my breath that long! I was in the forest today- no spraying there but there was a work crew cutting down some trees!
I won’t lie, this training cycle has been very rewarding but also is taking a lot out of me. 69.2/250km for March.

Hard rain all day today.... 5 TM miles better than nothing.

Perfect running weather out there. Too bad my legs were tired. 7.5km done. Rest day tomorrow.9

@martaindale Maybe they are practicing for warmer weather? I have a hard time getting out of bed at 5:45, let alone heading out for a run at that time. You guys who do that consistently amaze me.
You are doing great @Laurz9191 . I can see how the training is taking a lot out of you, but really glad to see that you are enjoying it. I'm glad you took an immediate shower after that run. I was thinking about what I do when I'm mowing the lawn and the wind is blowing the dust/grass back at me. I will hold my breathe for a few seconds and turn my head away from the "junk" to breath, and then look back to where I am going. I'm sure it wouldn't have worked very well while running. I'm glad you had a forest run today. Hopefully the work crew was cutting down trees that could potentially fall on people later. Hopefully they were paying attention to pedestrians going by.
@Mari33a Great run. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know what a pumpjack was!
Glad you had great weather for your amazing run @daria0919 .
You did great with the 5 on the TM @Scott6255 .
Enjoy your rest day tomorrow @ContraryMaryMary . Nice run on tired legs today.

I got up early enough this morning to get in a treadmill session before heading out to my doctor's appointment. I ran 2 min each at 4.2-4.9 mph, walk/run for 2/4/2/2:16 min at 4.0/5.0 mph. Avg pace was 13:08 min/mile. Avg HR was 135 with a max of 149 bpm. It wasn't too hard. Mostly, mentally, I wanted to walk sooner but I hung in there.
The Physician Assistant at the Cardiovascular Surgeons office I saw today used to be an ultra marathoner, so he "gets" me. I really like him. He said everything looked good on the CT scan, so the aneurysm repair is holding and no other expansion "down stream." I just have to get the scan and see him once a year, assuming all goes well.10 -
Great news @quilteryoyo 😃2

I live in Texas and I still don't know what a pumpjack is. Perhaps we need to add that to the opening information. 😳😂😂3
-
@quilteryoyo I'm glad you received good news! There are not many pedestrians where I go running, but the workers always seem happy when they can take a short break to let someone pass!
I am glad I am not the only one who was in the "pumpjack" dark. But I supposed, we all know now .
It was below freezing this morning and I have been wanting to go to the gym, so I did. I got a speedy 7.3km treadmill run in and it actually felt really good. Then I did some strength training. I am planning a long slow run during soccer practice this afternoon. It should be nice as the sun is now shining and it is no longer freezing .
So far 76.5/250km for March.8
