4/17: An unplanned evening at a testimonial event, food as per a country club. I stuck to salad, veggies and salmon; dodged the too sweet cake and sticky basmati rice. But I could feel my fingers swelling as I was eating. What's with all the sodium in restaurant food? It doesn't make it taste better...
Close friend/work colleague had a family emergency and asked me to step in for an old client- it was lovely to see them again. I worked on this project over 25 years ago and am now working on one for one of their children. Now, THAT seems impossible!8 -

WOE & Health Journey
****************************
WOE since 7/2023: MAD: (Mostly Animal Diet) Whole Foods. No processed foods. Animal-based proteins: EGGS, Beef, pork, chicken, seafood, venison and grass-fed whey protein. I count macros & kcals - always will. (Since portion control is my issue). Keto is high-fat but I’m now leaner animal proteins with lower fat than Keto. I thought I was “KETOVORE” but I’ve been told I am “MAD”.
I had paralyzing IBS for 20+ years. My mother was diagnosed with celiac’s disease in her 50’s. Following her lead, I eliminated wheat, oat, barley, and rye in 2015 …. Dairy? Hard cheese, HWC and butter - an occasional high protein Greek yogurt. Vegetables destroy my digestive system… I love vegetables, but when I splurge, I pay for it for several days… I do enjoy berries, lemons, limes. Avocados are my weakness. Enjoy a piece(s) of dark chocolate on occasion. Generally, I eat btw noon and 6 pm. (IF18/6). Alcohol? Used to be somewhat of a weekend social drinker and would enjoy a good martini/scotch or Paloma at home while cooking dinner. NO MORE. Root of many evils. Primarily, the destruction of will power and the enemy of optimal choices. I’d rather journey toward my best-self. I haven’t given up alcohol completely, but I enjoy it sparingly on special occasions. This is me. I finally feel terrific.
History:
I have ALWAYS been ON a “diet” since at least 9th grade. I have never been comfortable with my body - NEVER EVER- no matter my weight.

Aug 14, 2014 @ 157lbs (down 15 from heaviest of 172lbs in 2010), I decided to take serious control of my health. I lost 30lbs by 11/15/2014. Weight @ 128-132lbs through the end of 2020. Six years!
2020 through 2021, I fluctuated 132-140lbs. 🎢🎢🎢 Always self-conscious.
8/1/ 2022 crept up to 142lbs.
Dropped to 128lbs again by 10/30 - held 130lbs till 2/1/23.
2023 Back ⬆️ 145lbs by July 15! 15lbs BOOM! Enjoyed eating & margaritas way too much. My nutrition has always been somewhat healthy BUT portion control is/was THE issue. The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.
I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to be healthy & fit & maintain approx. 130lbs & IN SHAPE - to enjoy my “Senior” years to my fullest.
While active with 🚶♀️& 🎾 it’s clear a ST 🏋️♀️🤸🏼routine was absent. Strength & balance are 💯most important now. Time to incorporate ST 🏋️♀️ 🙆♀️🤸🏼as my TRUE focus. I want healthy/fit choices to be my first nature.

4/16 183.8
4/17 184.8 expected a bounce since I had two big drop days. Especially since I worked late yesterday so DH made dinner, suffice to say it was very processed and very high in sodium.
Also a reminder that I definitely eat better, eat less and do not feel hungry if I graze all afternoon instead of eating dinner.
Tonight is trivia night- our team is famously ridiculous as well as always top placing. I confess I bring more of the ridiculous then the knowledge but my heckling skills are top notch!
It will be another late sodium filled meal- the bar does not serve salads!!!

And so it begins again. A fresh start for everyone.
I am very pleased with this morning’s scale reading. Last night I helped in the kitchen at church for an event. When I “filled” my plate afterward to sit and eat with the other helpers I erred on the side of excess. Still managed to stay under my budget thanks to exercise calories eaten back. I will do that within reason, but I try not to eat them all back due to possible errors in logging.
The true bump may come tomorrow, so I will be careful today.
4/15: 219.4
Starting weight on day before this round.

This morning our local chamber of commerce has its annual “forecast breakfast.” All the taxing bodies will go to the podium and give an update on what’s happening at their end of the world. Village, School District, Library District (I am on the elected board), Park District, Police & Fire. It is always interesting. My former firm has done (or is doing) design work for all of them. The highlight is pumpkin pancakes. This should be my big meal of my day.
This new decade of pounds I am in has a mild inspirational effect. I know I am too close to the 220’s to get too happy because there WILL be a bump up. (pumpkin pancakes for example) But five days in a row under it is meaningful.
Striving for the next decade.
By the way, I know “decade” is the wrong word. Can’t think of anything better this morning. Any ideas?

APRIL 1st SW: 198.2 | EW: 000.0
Since starting ...January 1st - April 1st, I've lost 17 pounds and a total of 20.8 inches from 11 areas. 🥳 Thrilled to see my hard work reversing prediabetes and years of physical damage. Getting leaner and stronger and chair dancing proud of myself about it!! 57 and hormonal, it's taken longer than expected and a much rougher road than my youth.
Reaching onederland (March 13th) meant the end of 10+ years and up to 80 pounds!! gained and relost too many times to count. Determined not to self-sabotage ... have to ask: now what? Weight was my focus so long, I need a new target!! If I should lose an additional 8% body fat to reach the "standard" for my age, height and sex ~ and up to 15% to reach excellent ~ that's @ least another 8-15 months of work before I can begin to relax and think maintenance.
I've been eating @ a 200-400 calorie deficit (90-95% of the time) and Intermittent Fasting 18-22 hrs (75-85%). It's worked well, so trying to take it up a notch by lowering carbs, changing eating window to earlier in the day, breaking fast differently, and continuing to look for new ways to increase step count and add more strength in April.7 -

4/17 - 149.9 - Busy with work and completely forgot to check in and post! Oops. Doing pretty well so far. BF skipped out on the gym this morning but I went and had a really good back&shoulders day by myself. I'm suuuuuper duper sore in my legs from Monday so I think I'm holding on to a little weight from DOMS. I just got my 2 new recipe books in, both Paleo (Well Fed and Well Fed 2). Meals planned out for today and feeling capable. Hopefully work is productive but not overly stressful. Yesterday was a good balance and I'd be okay with that again.

4/16 I COMPLETELY forgot to weigh myself this morning, so I'm assuming it's still 216 give or take, whoops. I'm going to try to get a little more hydrated today, I was so good about that in my early 20s and I miss the way that made my vocal chords feel.
4/17 I thought about remembering to weigh myself, and I didn't. I did hydrate better yesterday and went to IHOP to celebrate the Sonic collaboration with friends. We're going again Friday because some people couldn't make it. Today's goal: continue regular calorie deficit, no playing catch up. TOMORROW'S goal... get up earlier and weigh myself, lmao.

Thank you SO much! Happy early birthday! And yes girl you deserve a cheat day! I am so happy for you and your progress as well ❤️. You're doing amazing 👏4 -
I'm Crystal! I am aiming for 1200 calories/day, less than 90 carbs and low sugar. Recently added more protein to my diet and walking on most days.

RND 257 So far in April, I've met my goals every day along with daily exercise. I aim to finish off April with no "cheat days"!
4/16 172 Light eating day yesterday, I just didn't have much of an appetite. Looking at the dates of this round reminded me that my youngest boy's birthday is next week (the 24th). He'll be 6. He is the happiest and sweetest little boy and he brings such joy to everyone ❤️.
4/17 170.2 I was waiting for a drop. I could tell my body has been holding on to water. Also have barely had an appetite for 2 days, so I was a good bit under on calories both days (not complaining about that 🤪). Weight will probably go up a little when I'm eating back to normal.
