I’ve since modified to a little less fat and upped protein so macro % are no longer truly “keto”. This old lady needs more protein to maintain & grow some muscles! 💪🏻 Thx for your insights! 🙌🏻

Goals for this round; to lose! To be consistent and lose something. I start this round a year older (hopefully wiser ?) Officially an OAP! How can that be I can’t possibly be that old – I feel much much younger 😊.
Good luck everyone for a successful round.

Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

If I hadn’t had that 2 day binge mid round then what could it have been ? Must have a “clean” round next, maybe being a year older will make me a year wiser?

4/17 140.6 – (trend 141.1) Thank you for the lovely birthday wishes, had a wonderful day. DH brought me a coffee in bed, got up to open my pressies & cards, then he went off to work. Relaxing manicure and went on to meet sisters for lunch, then a garden centre; bought plants! Kept under calories until DH surprised me with a birthday cake in the evening, only had small piece and weighed it, took me over by 122. 7.48 miles walked.

I usually type decade as the word but in my head I call it “leveling up”. I’m not a video game player and I see a very late eighties style arcade game in my mind’s eye.
I wanted to make sure I was using the term right so I googled and found this:

“When a sufficient amount of experience is obtained, the character "levels up", achieving the next stage of character development. Such an event usually increases the character's statistics, such as maximum health, magic and strength, and may permit the character to acquire new abilities or improve existing ones.”

I am definitely going to continue thinking “leveling up”, oh I also think of levels in 5lb increments.

WOE since 7/2023: MAD: (Mostly Animal Diet) Whole Foods. No processed foods. Animal-based proteins: EGGS, Beef, pork, chicken, seafood, venison and grass-fed whey protein. I count macros & kcals - always will. (Since portion control is my issue). Keto is high-fat but I’m now leaner animal proteins with lower fat than Keto. I thought I was “KETOVORE” but I’ve been told I am “MAD”.

I had paralyzing IBS for 20+ years. My mother was diagnosed with celiac’s disease in her 50’s. Following her lead, I eliminated wheat, oat, barley, and rye in 2015 …. Dairy? Hard cheese, HWC and butter - an occasional high protein Greek yogurt. Vegetables destroy my digestive system… I love vegetables, but when I splurge, I pay for it for several days… I do enjoy berries, lemons, limes. Avocados are my weakness. Enjoy a piece(s) of dark chocolate on occasion. Generally, I eat btw noon and 6 pm. (IF18/6). Alcohol? Used to be somewhat of a weekend social drinker and would enjoy a good martini/scotch or Paloma at home while cooking dinner. NO MORE. Root of many evils. Primarily, the destruction of will power and the enemy of optimal choices. I’d rather journey toward my best-self. I haven’t given up alcohol completely, but I enjoy it sparingly on special occasions. This is me. I finally feel terrific.

I have ALWAYS been ON a “diet” since at least 9th grade. I have never been comfortable with my body - NEVER EVER- no matter my weight.

8/1/ 2022 crept up to 142lbs.
Dropped to 128lbs again by 10/30 - held 130lbs till 2/1/23.

2023 Back ⬆️ 145lbs by July 15! 15lbs BOOM! Enjoyed eating & margaritas way too much. My nutrition has always been somewhat healthy BUT portion control is/was THE issue. The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.

I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to be healthy & fit & maintain approx. 130lbs & IN SHAPE - to enjoy my “Senior” years to my fullest.

While active with 🚶‍♀️& 🎾 it’s clear a ST 🏋️‍♀️🤸🏼routine was absent. Strength & balance are 💯most important now. Time to incorporate ST 🏋️‍♀️ 🙆‍♀️🤸🏼as my TRUE focus. I want healthy/fit choices to be my first nature.

@deepwoodslady: I feel your pain and frustration- and this foot swelling has made it even worse, and must be very scary for you. But you've had amazing success and taken enormous (and inspiring) strides to better health, and you keep working at it. I admire your perseverance!
I would never presume to tell you what diet is correct for you, and what works for you may also change as you move along. It's easy to suggest that you not get discouraged, but for sure that doesn't help.

It is true that most Drs are not versed in nutrition; I don't know if you have access to a licensed nutritionist who can cut through a lot of the fads and gimmicks. I've worked with one for the last 6 months after years of struggling with symptoms and it's worked miracles for me; I have both HBP and diverticulitis and after working with her I'm learning to manage both with the appropriate diet.

Perhaps there's a nutrition and wellness site or center that you can access remotely for some good advice? Also, some PCPs now have access to or information about nutritionists. Not sure this is relevant, but for diabetes and renal conditions a nutritionist is usually covered by insurance.

@Garbagegang I do not get notifications when someone tags me for some reason, but I can see it on my screen while I am in the community section.

On the desktop web site there is a little "bell" icon in the upper right corner. If there is a red circle next to it with a number in it, you have been tagged. Click on it to see who tagged you.

On the phone app click on your picture in the upper right corner and you will see the bell.

Regarding replies, I appreciate the way MFP does it instead of the way Facebook does it. Two reasons. First, less chaff to wade through. Facebook is a cesspool of flippant worthless content and troll food, while MFP takes a bit more effort therefore more quality. Second, I will not be tempted to contribute my own chaff.

And so it begins again. A fresh start for everyone.
I am very pleased with this morning’s scale reading. Last night I helped in the kitchen at church for an event. When I “filled” my plate afterward to sit and eat with the other helpers I erred on the side of excess. Still managed to stay under my budget thanks to exercise calories eaten back. I will do that within reason, but I try not to eat them all back due to possible errors in logging.

The true bump may come tomorrow, so I will be careful today.

This morning our local chamber of commerce has its annual “forecast breakfast.” All the taxing bodies will go to the podium and give an update on what’s happening at their end of the world. Village, School District, Library District (I am on the elected board), Park District, Police & Fire. It is always interesting. My former firm has done (or is doing) design work for all of them. The highlight is pumpkin pancakes. This should be my big meal of my day.

This new decade of pounds I am in has a mild inspirational effect. I know I am too close to the 220’s to get too happy because there WILL be a bump up. (pumpkin pancakes for example) But five days in a row under it is meaningful.

Striving for the next decade.

By the way, I know “decade” is the wrong word. Can’t think of anything better this morning. Any ideas?

04/17 -182.8- (Trend weight 182.0) I am still creeping up. Could it be stress? It just feels like sheer unadulterated and constant hunger. I am choosing the same meals I always do but they no longer satisfy. I’m lost. Foot is a little better but swells back up easily with the least amount of overdoing it. Today I travel to the new eye doctor. Diabetic testing and new glasses. It will be nice to be able to see again. It took me a minute to find a doctor who takes my vision insurance. Of course there is no eye doctor in our little rural town. Dinner and shopping afterward. The scale will not be my friend this week. I just have to try not to tick it off too very much.

04/18 -DNW- (Trend weight DNW) Leaving this morning for the Cancer Center. I’ll probably take a couple of days off weighing until I can get back on this journey with some normal diet and exercise. Eating my meals in restaurants, getting no exercise or movement and doing nothing but sitting is not part of my journey. I’ll post numbers when they better reflect my efforts or my disregards, not my stuck-withs. I’ll keep up with reading the posts as best as I can. I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty scared and shaken up about this re-check. I’ve been through a lot these last couple of years and all of this is not normal par for the course. I’ve had 3 scares before with a few years in-between each. All 3 times was cancer (or pre-cancerous). I am trying to stay hopeful. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes.
