Annie - So glad you're feeling better, dear heart...

Terri - Sounds like a lovely birthday celebration.

Heather - SO pleased the antibiotics are working. Not something you need right now, for any number of reasons.

About to take Corey his third cup of coffee, and finishing up putting everything together for the Cowboy Cookies that I keep in the freezer so we can bake off just a few at a time.

The oats, pecans and coconut all have to be pre-toasted, and then cooled down. Learned that the hard way, as I combined them all warm once and all the chocolate chips melted in the mixing! They were fine, but not what I was aiming for However the only way these cookies are worth the amount of work that goes into them is to just make it a big batch and only do it months apart. I make a double batch, and wanted to have some ready for when my friend is here... only ten days and a wake-up!

Time to get some laundry sorted, and then decide together what (if anything) to do on his only day off this week.

I had long hair until I was in my 30’s. Then I started to go shoulder length. I have naturally wavy hair with a lot of body so those lengths worked for me. I also was in New England and didn’t sweat much. In my 40’s I started to experiment with short lengths and when we finally got into the RV, I went short. After menopause, my head started sweating very easily and I hate oily hair so went short with an easy care style. That’s what I have now. I get it cut every couple of months, especially in the Summer, sometimes sooner. I started getting white hair in my 20’s and colored it black (my natural color) until my 50’s. Then I went blond and let the natural come through. I told my kids I didn’t want to be a grandmother until my 50’s and figured I was old enough to let the white come through. (My kids did wait until I was 53 for the first grandchild).

Having too much fun with our Mystery! My head is in the land of MFP/Roswell! LOL. So not much else going on. Let’s see, my Renal doc got my BP down to normal along with my electrolytes. It seems the BP met HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) was stripping me of electrolytes. The new combination I am on is working. Along with my kidneys are down to stage 2 (better than normal for my age) so medical is finally straightening out. No more psycho days, or anxiety attacks from too much med either. All in all, health is getting back to normal. Now for the weight…../

Worked then cut the grass. Got dinner ready, have beef and barley in the crockpot and right now some meat for pulled pork in the IP. Also made more hard boiled eggs. Will probably go for a walk shortly.

Washed the blanket along with a few of my winter coats. Yippee! Vince downer said “you know, it’s supposed to get in the 40’s later in the week”. Well, if that happens, I’ll just cuddle up to him! Sounds good to me.

I used to dye my hair. Then during the pandemic I had to let my hair grow out and, boy, do I have a lot of gray hair! So I just let it go “au natural”

Took a walk around the neighborhood, had dinner, then walked down to the neighbor to get the other traffic cone. I do like walking. I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow because I want to go to Food Lion to get some fruit

Sun here: didn’t go to church last night since I want to drive Vince’s vehicle as little as possible. I don’t have to lector until next weekend so I wasn’t under any pressure. Today did a Total Body Toning DVD then because it is raining did part of a Leslie Sansone DVD. Hopefully, it’ll stop raining later in the day because I want to go to Food Lion for some fruit.

Need to share, and I apologize in advance for being so cryptic. I’d received an email a while ago from my gf in Switzerland. She had a tumor which was pressing on her spine and the top of her leg. They did radiation and started chemo this week. Well, she just sent me another email, I’m sick, sick, sick to my stomach. I’m sorry, I’m not at liberty at this time to talk about it. She only shared this information with 2 other people, J, R, and I were the 3 Musketeers in high school and one friend of hers from grade school. When I say prayers are desperately needed, I’m not kidding at all. I did forward it to Vince because he experienced something very similar (not exactly) to what she’s going thru. If I’m lucky, I’ll be so sick to my stomach that I won’t eat….lol So far, tho, I’ve had some Lance crackers as a comfort food. Since it’s somewhat chilly out, maybe I’ll make myself some tea.

Mowed the grass (weeds) yesterday. Saw that the weeds I’d transplanted died. I even kill weeds!!!! Took my walk around the neighborhood and got one of the traffic cones I’d loaned to my neighbor. Then after dinner Vince said he didn’t feel like walking (boo) so I walked down and got the second cone. Looks like I got in over 15,000 steps. Probably won’t be that many today since I can’t go out and walk. But on the bright side...that gives me time to be here.

I was told to call the courthouse an hour or two before I’m supposed to go in case they plea bargained and I don’t have to go. Somehow, I suspect I will. That reminds me, I have to charge my tablet. I’ll take that and my mahjongg card since I’ll probably have to wait

Annie – your dad hurting his hip...again! Well, look at the bright side to you having to take over part of the mowing….you’ll be getting your steps in

Rita – could Nosey and Pixie by working together? Nosey is talking to each GROUP of people and Pixie is interview EACH person. Perhaps they will get together after a while and compare notes? So glad to hear that you’re so much better. You sound better, too

Made beef and barley for Vince in the crockpot yesterday and had it shut off in the middle of the night so I portioned it out this morning and put it in the freezer. Also made some pulled pork for Vince and have that in the freezer.

Michele - So sorry about the sad news from your friend. Thinking of you both.

Strange day with John out all day. I had plans for little tasks, but didn't get through all of them. Spent most of the day on YouTube. Oh well. Sometimes those rabbit holes are irresistible. Especially when I'm on my own. Had curry laksa for lunch.
I did cook some cauliflower mash with Parmesan, and sautéed potatoes for John. The veal escalopes were fabulous.

I've been following the Internet fad for castor oil. I ordered a bottle out of interest. It wasn't a fortune, so worth a punt. Have any of you tried it? Also bought some cc cream to try for the summer. It cheers me up if I don't look like 'death warmed up', as my mother used to say. Both of us were blessed with dead grey skin, with not a hint of colour. People have always asked me if I'm ill if I don't have something on my face.
I do believe that my latest retinol serum is having some effect on the deep lines in my left cheek. I hate them.

I hope tomorrow, with John at home, will be less introverted and obsessive. Painting?

Rita - Hope that's the kind of thing you had in mind...

Finally quieted for what little remains of a beautiful afternoon. Just got out of a shower, had to get in to wash the schmutz off. Took me a couple of hours to mow the whole yard, but it's done... and Corey was hard at work finishing up his kitchen in the sunroom:
Getting a picture of my husband truly smiling is not easy, but I'm so happy that he's pleased with what he's done. He's absolutely done masterful work with it, and like me, it's hard for him to love what he creates - we always see our own mistakes. He's starting to really enjoy this, though. Makes me so happy.

Anyway, enough fluffy stuff.
