RND 257 So far in April, I've met my goals every day along with daily exercise. I aim to finish off April with no "cheat days"!4/16 172 Light eating day yesterday, I just didn't have much of an appetite. Looking at the dates of this round reminded me that my youngest boy's birthday is next week (the 24th). He'll be 6. He is the happiest and sweetest little boy and he brings such joy to everyone ❤️.4/21 171.7 Japanese for dinner last night. High sodium and rice 😆. Very little sleep the past 2 nights also. Lots of water today!
4/17 170.2 I was waiting for a drop. I could tell my body has been holding on to water. Also have barely had an appetite for 2 days, so I was a good bit under on calories both days (not complaining about that 🤪). Weight will probably go up a little when I'm eating back to normal.
4/18 170.2 Another good day yesterday. Feels good to set goals and actually stick with them. I set another goal for myself this month also to not bite or pick at my fingernails. (I know it sounds gross) Just something I've been doing since I was a little girl. Bad bad habit that I've never been able to break. Although my nails still aren't long, I have more nails now than I ever have and I can actually paint them 😀.
4/19 171.5 Weighed myself 2 hours early this morning before I really got moving around. Seems like I weigh a little more when I first wake up. Yesterday was another good day with all goals met.
4/20 170.9 Low calorie day yesterday. Not much planned this weekend which is nice to have a break!
4/22 169.8 Whew it's good to see the 160's. Just pushing through and sticking with the program. Still no cheat days this month, and have exercised daily. I have been out to eat a several times but I just make sure to keep it in my calories.
4/23 169.8 Yesterday was another good day on target with my goals. I spoke to my sister over the phone and she told me she is working on getting herself healthy. I have been so worried about her because she was an alcoholic and on top of this she is very overweight. She has stopped drinking and this month alone she's already lost 12 lbs just from no alcohol. She is working out now and working towards eating healthier. I think that her seeing me do better gave her the push to want to as well. Although I never had an issue with alcohol, I'm glad that I can be a good example for her 😃. Praying that she doesn't turn back to drinking and she can have the discipline to stick with it.

4/23 - 148.9 - I typed an update yesterday but apparently never hit post. Oops. It's down in my spoiler if you want to read my ramblings from yesterday that never made it to your screens. Today has started off rough. I'm getting enough sleep, I'm just not getting the right kind of sleep (mostly light, not enough deep/REM at all). I would've slept in if BF didn't make me get up for the gym. Nothing spectacular, I maintained weight but didn't try to push.. not that I had the energy since I barely made it through the workout as it was. Hopefully my body and mind start waking up properly soon so I can get through the day a little smoother than this morning has gone. At least the workout, as mediocre as it was, helped get some kind of endorphins kicking around and keeping me upright with eyes open so far!

Previous Day's Comments4/16 - DNP
4/17 - Busy with work and completely forgot to check in and post! Oops. Doing pretty well so far. BF skipped out on the gym this morning but I went and had a really good back&shoulders day by myself. I'm suuuuuper duper sore in my legs from Monday so I think I'm holding on to a little weight from DOMS. I just got my 2 new recipe books in, both Paleo (Well Fed and Well Fed 2). Meals planned out for today and feeling capable. Hopefully work is productive but not overly stressful. Yesterday was a good balance and I'd be okay with that again.
4/18 - TOM and with a vengeance. For what? I don't know. I knew it was going to start today and it hit right as I started my workout. Ouch. I'm super bloated and horrid cramping so I'm taking it as easy as possible the rest of the day. Explains the scale, though! Almond butter oatmeal for breakfast. Chicken pot pie soup for lunch, dinner will be ground beef and broccoli. Depending on if I need to be on a work call about 10pm tonight, I'll wake up and run (last run before the 10k next weekend). BF going to the gym for a second round of legs. Work is busy busy busy and stressful. Can't wait to get this part of the project DONE
4/19 - I ended up waking up right as BF came back from the gym and it threw me off routine so I forgot to weigh. I'm not upset about it, I'm still dealing with some horrible TOM/PMS including bloat so it's probably better I don't see the scale and add one more reason to be down on myself. Instead, I told myself I was going to have a really good run and I did. I repeated the Peloton 60 minute walk/run and I feel like I did better (at least I felt better) during this one which is good. I'm tired and sore (hills) but I feel accomplished. I ended up getting a coach for the next 4 months. Typically they do 6 months but since I'm ahead of the game compared to her normal clients, she's starting me at 4 with option to continue after that. Our focus is nutrition but I can ask small things about exercise and mindset or I can choose to add in those coaching modules for an added price at any time, too. Due to budget I'm sticking to the number one thing I feel like I could use the most help which is nutrition. I'm excited to start Monday! I think having the monetary investment will keep me accountable and the added accountability to my coach will keep me better focused and more aligned with goals than trying to do it on my own. I know how to eat right, but I'm still very unbalanced macro-wise which is what she'll help me with. Progress, not perfection!

4/22 - Glad to be back down, even if I'm just bouncing around this weight a bit. I'll take it given it was a weekend and things never go as planned food-wise on weekends hah! Today is officially Day 1 with my new Coach. She got me access to the app Friday afternoon so I spent the weekend logging what I could and simply getting comfortable with it, learning all the features. I can input my workouts (even though we're not focused there), food, weight, steps, etc. I'm excited to see where this leads. This week is simply logging at least 4 days so we can see where I stand. I have macro goals in place, but the focus isn't on meeting them perfectly. We're learning this week and next week we can implement changes to try to meet those macros more consistently. Will be interesting since I'll be gone this weekend and eating out at least Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast/lunch due to the 10k (out of town). Will need to figure out meal plan for next week so I can get groceries on Saturday morning before we leave otherwise I might not be getting groceries until Tuesday and no meal prepping for either of us! Eeek!

1st round for me
Total so far this round: (-1.2)
4/15 153.0
4/16 152.6 Ate out for lunch and dinner, went about 200 over calories goal and didn't eat as many veggies as I prefer. Will make a meal plan for the week today and include more veggies.
4/17 151.8 stayed within calories, ate more vegetables, still need to work on more water 💦, did not make a meal plan for the week so doing that this morning
4/18 152.2 I feel better with no dairy and gluten. I’ve been on a modified bed rest for 3 weeks due to various issues in the L4-L5-S1 of my spine, waiting to see specialists. A friend brought dinner over and I ate gluten and dairy, weight and inflammation are up. No surprise.
4/19 151.2 A more normal eating day yesterday, still need to keep working on getting all my water 💦 in
4/20 152.4 Went to dinner with friends and ate a way larger dinner with dessert than I am used to later at night. Was over calories by 300.
4/21 152.4
4/22 151.8 I ate some sugary items on Saturday after the Friday dessert. Seems to work that way, when I eat sugar I want it again and again. Sunday I chose not to eat sugar and I ate less than the two days before. I’m not saying no sugar/never sugar. For me, it tends to awaken a craving and then I tend to overeat when I’m eating sugar.
4/23 151.8 Got some movement on an appointment with a neurosurgeon, hopefully in June once they get my MRI. Having to go to another city 2.5 hours away as the surgeons recommended in my town are booked out until October. Honestly, I just need someone besides my PT (who is great) to read my MRI and get me pointed in a direction or two. Acupuncture has finally helped in the last two weeks and I’m moving around better. I’m starting a water exercise plan today and hoping I can get some pain free movement in. I’m used to cycling, hiking, gardening, yoga and this limited activity has me really wanting to move! I will definitely be back here for the next round as I’m feeling determined, as ever, to drop any weight to help this back issue. And if I were to have surgery (which I really don’t want to have!) less weight would definitely help with recovery.

5. Remember, the tortoise wins the race
4/16 204.0 Good start and now to keep it moving. I've had a cold the last few days and haven't felt like doing much exercising not that I do much anyway. But we had started walking once a day around the area lake. Today it's been raining off and on so I don't know if we will get that walk in or not. I did get a new food journal which I really like.
4/17 203.6 I wasn’t sure about any loss today. Last night we ate at Cracker Barrel but I had the grilled trout, cooked baby carrots, fried apples and one and a half biscuits. I was worried the bread would do me in, I’ve not had very much bread at all this past month. Also had a very short walk last night but it was something.
4/18 203.6 Traveling today to spend two days with my mom.
4/19 DNW
4/20 DNW
4/21 203.2 I’m very pleased that I was able to travel to visit my mom and my weight go down instead of up. I need to be very careful the rest of the day.
4/22 203.4 I am very happy that it only went up .2 since yesterday I ate way over my calorie goal and of course stuff I shouldn’t have. Onto a better day and looking ahead to seeing a lower number tomorrow.
4/23 204.2 Well lesson well learned here. You can’t sneak a few salty pretzels and not expect to have negative results from the salt intake the next day.

4/16 134.0 Finally dropped a bit and DH set up dinner date at Golden Corral 🤦♀️🤦♀️ I have a plan since we are going later so friends can get butterfly shrimp. I will get salad and steak and see what good veggies they have. I can do this! OY! This morning has been a mess. Now to finish reading today’s posts.
4/17 136.5 I only ate one meal yesterday. That was at GC. I really didn’t eat a lot of food but it was high carb-breaded shrimp and Nashville Chicken Bites, sugar free vanilla cake and the blueberry filling from a slice of SF blueberry pie, at a 2” square of real crust from “apple cobbler.” I also drank a lot of water after we got home. I feel bloated-something I don’t experience often. Optometrist today so I can replace the glasses that broke when I fell in Ensenada. Tonight is community bingo with pizza for dinner.🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
4/18 138.5 The thick crust pizza was cold be the time it was served so I couldn’t even pry the toppings lose to throw the crust away. This is turning into a stellar week🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️I’m having my BP coffee and pondering my plan. On the upside-It’s great of the scale to let me know it’s working by showing increases.🤪😂
4/19 136.5 Liquid fast yesterday
4/20 134.5 Liquid fast yesterday but short on water. Going to Great Greek today
4/21 135.0 Super low calories the last week, no idea why the bump up. Just keeping to it and riding the waves.

Day, Weight, Comment

I ate a lot yesterday, mostly healthy food, just too much. I’m not worried about the uptick. We have another gorgeous day, with rain forecast this evening and tomorrow, so I’m planning more garden infrastructure work today again. It’s good exercise, with a bigger purpose. 😊
4/17 - 195
Rainy day, so I’m off to knit for a while with a friend. Always fun to knit in company and talk and laugh. She usually feeds my lunch when I do, but I’m taking a curried pineapple chicken salad this time. Yummy!
4/18 - 194.4
This is long, so no need to read. I’m writing partly to find out what I’m thinking. I’m in the throes of some big decisions about life, all building up for a while but banging around in my head in a big way right now. I’ve mentioned here my friend who has had serious health problems over the past year and is now on dialysis 3 days a week and essentially immobile. On Tues her husband came in from mowing the lawn, sat down with a cold drink, and had a massive heart attack. Last I heard he was alive but not responsive. This has all been a sad reminder that life can change in a heartbeat, literally. I’m 71 and Roger will be 89 in July. We’re both healthy, thankfully, but realistically I don’t have much time left to monkey around. (20 years is not much time imo.) Things that used to be vitally important to me no longer are, and I’ve developed some new interests. One of the decisions I’ve made is to (try to) step back from my lifelong worry about weight and tracking calories and yada yada. The recent photo with the stack of diet books really hit me—like many of you, I’ve read everything and know a lot and yet have struggle with weight or worry about weight since the first diet I was put on in the fourth grade. The only times in my life I haven’t “dieted” (and I include any kind of restriction in that) were when I was working and studying overseas, and walking everywhere. Clearly my lifelong diet worry hasn’t worked. So one of the things I’m dropping, maybe short term, maybe for good, is tracking. I’ve already stopped tracking food, and I’ve put my scale in the closet after this morning’s weigh in. All of which is to say I’m not sure how long I’ll stay with this group. I really enjoy reading your posts, but I may need to step away for a while. I’ll stick around for this round and see. Anyway, thank you all for being so supportive and open about your journeys.
4/19 - DNW
Thanks to those who commented on my long entry yesterday. The good news is that my friend’s husband is doing reasonably well. And I’m feeling pretty good about trying not to track, although it’s so thoroughly ingrained after years of doing it that it’s mostly automatic. Anyway…. @_JeffreyD_ I do journal by hand most days—I’ve filled many notebooks! Research shows that our brains are more engaged when writing by hand than when typing. Not that I can read my own writing anymore! But journaling, like walking alone and unplugged, is a great way to work things out. Pulling weeds, too, and that’s what I’m off to do!

4/21 - DNW
I thought I posted yesterday, but I can’t find it. Duh! It’s turned cold here—too cold for comfy garden work so I think I’ll make some progress on my knitting project today. 😊 Enjoy your Sunday!
4/22 - DNW
4/23 - DNW
I almost got my scale out yesterday but resisted the urge. I went out for my usual Monday lunch with a friend yesterday and ate quite a bit less than I have been eating, going with “do I really want it” rather than “can I fit in the calories if I don’t eat anything else today” (which of course I usually do). So I’m counting that as a win. Also finished knitting a shawl ‘ve been working on and blocked it this morning. Trying to decide what’s next on this rainy day. 😊

@StatChicBayes - Welcome back!! You got this just like you did before!
@Chapter_3 ~ I just read your WOE and I'm sure I've read it before but I didn't focus on the MAD. I've got to look closer into this plan as it could be a fit. I've done Keto and it's a bit too high on the fat side to be sustainable for me. I'm ok with vegetables but bore of salads very easily. Thanks for sharing.
@skyleen75 ~ Wishing you the best in support of your husband and kudos to keeping your health as a priority. My husband has lot of health issues as well. I try to prepare healthy, low carb meals but I can't monitor when I'm not around and I know he goes off the deep end a lot. He made the mistake of sharing his blood glucose monitoring app with me so I know! I like the *factory reset*, we all need it everyone once in a while!
@judefit1 ~ I love Arizona. For a brief stint last year, considered moving their in retirement. The kicker was I couldn't bear to be that far from my son, DIL and grandchild.
@sweetzyd ~ Great news re your sister. Do you live close by? I'm sure she received a bit of motivation watching you. Seeing results is definitely a motivator as well! And yes, alcohol is just empty calories and it's amazing to see (when tracking) how they easily push you over your limit with no nutritional value. I am a wine drinker and I have to work hard to remember this!
@CamandJarvis ~ Good Luck with your nutrition coach. Sounds like a great idea. I feel like I've conquered exercise but the food thing is still a challenge. Keep us posted on how it's working for you.
@quiltingjaine ~ I haven't been to a Golden Corral in a long time. It would surely be a disaster zone for me but sounds like you navigated it well. You had a lot of challenges this round, great way to reign it in. I like it!
@mochasmommie7193 ~ I like your goal, and sometimes that is the ONLY focus!!
@cactusCatMom ~ great progress, even after the carbs and sugar! Keep at it!
@stacymcmd ~ the carb monster is real! If I am over on carbs, I know the scale is not going to budge or worst, go the other direction.
@reshii_devi ~ Happy Birthday to you!!
@sheilaBoneham ~ Good for you for ignoring the scale. Sometimes we all just need a break. Interesting thought regarding journaling by hand. I do journal but it's through an app. What I like about the app is it pops up with reflections from a year or two years ago on that day. It fun to see where my head was at and I probably would do that if I did it by hand, but something to think about!
Time to get back to work.

@itladyee My sister lives 2 hours from me unfortunately. I did get to go visit at the end of March and she knows about my journey and how things are going for me. If she was close by it would sure make things much easier.
Hope you can push through and get past those few pounds and get to losing the weight you want! Glad to see you're doiing well with exercise. And I love my wine- has to be sweet though 😃6 -
Thank you @itladyee ! I know I can lose the weight (but it is going to be a year+ journey) - just really have to adjust eating/exercise/wine/carbs to keep it off. This group was so helpful before so glad to be back!4

Goals for 10 Day Challenge: weigh-in and post daily!
Highest Weight Ever: 177.2
Starting Weight: 167.9
Starting BMI: 33.8
5 year member of MFP, and rejoining this group over a long hiatus as you all really helped me reach my goal weight back in March 2020 and transition to maintenance. (did 31 rounds in 2019-20, so this is round 32 for me!) Covid happened and the weight has gradually crept back on so starting over again. I know I can do this (keeping my old profile photo for motivation), but I have to focus on tracking calories in, balancing macros and incorporating exercise - ideally a mix of cardio and weights (one thing I know is that I just can't exercise at the level I was before) and figuring out how to maintain good habits (always the issue)! Right now that is a long way out, but little steps like the 10-day challenge are what I need! So here we go again!
