Spent all day in the ER & ICU with MIL yesterday. Hubby was an emotional wreck. Had to talk to his brother on the phone who is an emotionally stunted man who behaves like a toddler which led to a conversation with his wife who isn’t much better. 🙄🙄🙄 All that to say, I craved a drink last night, but resisted. MIL was doing better after we left, but we have a lot of work to do today which may require a few adult beverages for me to just get through it.
Got my start date and salary for my new job. Back to work June 5. 🙁
I hope everyone else’s Monday was far superior to mine! Have a great Tuesday!9 -

@NonnieDoiron, I'm sorry you were at the hospital with your MIL and had the stress of supporting your DH and BIL, but you craved and resisted the temptation! Great Job!! I hope your MIL is better.4 -
Hey all..did the March Less Alcohol - did great with that month and then April not so much. Didn't work out so much, drank more and ate crap.
Someone I loved and grew up with passed away on Monday 4/29 from alcoholism. It was a real kick to the heart. One of our last talks a month or two ago was about drinking - this person wanted to me to try to stop drinking because of their situation, they didn't want it to become something out of control.
I have to be honest even thinking of drinking makes me feel guilty now. I know this person wouldn't want me to feel any type of way about anything but "the fun" of drinking almost seems like a slap in the face to him. is that crazy?
My husband and I went out for dinner on Saturday for our two year anniversary and usually we would have drinks before hand, during and after (have a ride to pick up and drop off). We always do a toast with our shots - just funny ones or lovey ones. I couldn't get a word out during the toast, it felt wrong to put happy thoughts to a liquid that took the life of someone i loved. we had only three shots at the restaurant, none before or after.
We go on a cruise on the 19th with a group of family and family friends wit hthe drink package included...im super nervous. Part of me wants to have a few drinks to have fun with everyone but i also have that guilt feeling. Has anyone else gone through this? i don't want to be a buzzkill to the cruise.
A : 1 day

@Stepawayfromthetable So sorry to hear about your friend passing. How awful. At least now you're aware of how evil alcohol is.
I had similar instances where we would go out with friends and drink it up. I had a bad case of FOMO. I always thought drinking was what made it fun. That's a big fat lie. There are plenty of alternatives to having a drink. You can always order a club soda with lime. You can also tell family and friends that you're feeling a little green. Motion sickness would be a good excuse for me cuz I have a very weak stomach.
You could always keep your drinks to a minimum if you feel the need to drink. It's your life and you need to make the decision for you. I got tired of caring about what other people think. Most the time they didn't even question me.
It seems you can't go anywhere without alcohol being tied to it.
We went to a baseball game the other day and in the past we would always drink beer and order peanuts, but this time I got a blue raspberry slushie. Tasted so good and didn't have to worry about looking like a fool. We enjoyed the game and also felt great the next day.
Good job on your AF days.

I’m posting tonight an AF night, so I won’t have a beverage. I’m tired. Told my husband this morning he was on his own because I’m just too tired to deal with anything. I sat around and watched movies, scrolled TikTok, and created 1 scrapbook page. MIL was moved to a step-down unit today. She said the dr said the cardiac surgeon released her too soon last time. I guess we’ll see what happens this time. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you everyone for your caring words and support!

Yesterday was hard to say no to a drink because it's by far the most stressful day of the week for me. But I did it. And I'm saying no tonight, too.
My hubby and I used to keep track of how much money we saved by going AF and would then spend that money on ourselves elsewhere- usually lululemon stuff. I'm thinking of doing the same thing but maybe not dollar for dollar and instead absolutely spoil my puppies with chew toys.10 -

Week 1 is done! Blew my AF streak by over-doing it at a Cinco de Mayo party but AF otherwise. Now back to AF and contemplating Mother's day AF drinks.
My typical plan for losing weight before a trip is doing more weights, walking on the treadmill before dinner. I just stocked up on soups and am making my lunch a lower-sodium soup (calorie-controlled), typically something with beans and veg in it. Split Pea is great. This tricks my brain into feeling full. And staying "AF" as much as possible of course. Mug of hot herbal tea at night helps to flush out any bloat.
With vacations coming up (EEK!), welcome advice on how to get into the right frame of mind to manage not drinking or drinking way less.2 -
@Stepawayfromthetable have you checked to see if you can cancel your drinks package for your cruise? It might be too late but could be worth looking into. Then you won't feel like you have to get your money's worth. If you decide to drink, you can buy individual drinks and have some more control over your intake. Just some thoughts.
I also wanted to share that in my experience, when other's are drinking/drunk, they are not paying any attention to what or how much you are drinking.

Have another early meeting tomorrow morning so logging my no A night for today. Having to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for interacting with people in the mornings helps me with that decision.

Hello everyone
I am back and have caught up on your posts.
@MissMay I enjoyed your old stomping grounds!
for those of you that live in NY what is up with all the tolls on the interstate?????
I was not AF but neither did I over do it. Usually a night cap. I have always always had trouble sleeping on the road. Thats my excuse.
Now we are home and I am doing some food prep and plan to eat better than we did while out. So with that said those muffins look sooooo good. That will be on my list of things to make that are high protein and low calorie.
I have to let all you know it has really been hard for me to post on a regular basis right now. So please don't think I am not around. I keep up but posting is sometimes daunting for my mental health right now...please forgive me6 -

Thank you Everyone, for your kind words regarding my stressful dog situation. Right now whatever the vet gave her plus the narcotics are keeping her pain free I think. Who knows, she is quite drugged. She now sleeps 23.5 hours a day instead of 22. I don't consider this the greatest quality of life but I am not having another drama with my husband and daughter again. When it is blatantly obvious, I'll make that decision unilaterally. I am still AF. I'll ask for another blood test in a couple months to see if my enzymes are in the more normal range.6
