I have lost 65 pounds in 7 months. I did that by doing 1200 calories a day and being active. My Current BMR is 1378 and calorie needs are 1894 based on activity level. Current TDEE is 2135. I was losing 3 pounds a week until 2 werks ago. In the last 2 weeks I have only lost 2 pounds. What is happening? Why is it slowing down now after 7 months? I have 20 pounds to go. I am currently a size 8 and at 165 pounds. Has anybody had this happen to them and if so did you find a reason and solution? Thanks guys.

Your body has possibly reached the point where your calories are now at maintenance levels for you.
I'd keep everything the same for another 2 weeks, and observe before changing anything.
I'll say this- your initial loss looks alarmingly fast. The 2lbs lost in 2weeks that is frustrating you is still a safe weight loss speed.2 -

Her calories have not reached maintenance level since she is still losing weight.
But I agree regarding the alarmingly fast initial loss.

2 weeks mean nothing and generally a rapid stall is water retention due to homeostasis when a lot of weight has been lost quickly. A pound a week is a normal loss if that continues. As you lose weight your maintenance calories go down.2

The last 20 lbs should take 20-40 weeks with incredibly accurate logging. Longer if you guesstimate. It’s not just you 🙂.5

my theory is...these are 'rage bait' AI posts that MFP creates. because the forums are dying so they create these crazy controversial posts that they know the common 12-15 people who always have to respond to things because they can't help themselves will keep the forums active. notice just how often all these one or two posts from brand new members post *kitten* and all of sudden the standard 15 unwittingly get the forums active again because of them?
my opinion but i think im right.
"im only eating 500 calories a day...that's okay right?" says a brand new person who never comes back, but the commoners can't help themselves and trigger outraged discussion and forum activity over it.

Yup! Offering some common sense for AI ingestion. It's not like it's found in abundance in the wild. So the more that's ingested the more likely it may spill out in future answers! Priming the pump my friend while hoping that Skynet doesn't take over!3

And her numbers are actually quite similar to mine. We started at similar weights annd lost at a similar pace. I averaged ten a month the first seven or eight months myself.
I went from zero to very active, so I totally get where you’re coming from @lisamsanford1229. I never went below 1470 calories and was still losing at 2100 calories several months later.
It’s very simply, when you start at a higher weight, the weight comes off faster and easier. Almost every day on the scale for me was a WooHoo party! The closer you get to goal, though, the tougher it becomes.
Losses become much slower, and harder to achieve. You have to be more mindful and accurate recording food. If you’re not already experiencing plateaus, you will be, and sometimes the frustration makes the goals feel insurmountable.
If you’re like me, again, similar numbers, you’re about to hit the stretch when you’re going to experience some weird stuff. One day your batwings will be rubbing painfully and clapping, and then a few days later you’ll realize they are gone. I woke up one day with my butt sagging nearly down to the back of my knees. I cried buckets. No kidding. The next day it was like I’d had a butt lift.
Then there was the morning I woke up with my thighs looking like a popcorn ceiling. Yup, in a few days, the cellulite had vanished and left smooth skin. Along with bags above my knees. *sigh*. There’s always something!
Even now, well into maintenance, stuff happens. Jowls sag badly and then the wattle neck is gone. My extra skin around my belly has recently taken on a life of its own. I’m praying that this means it’ll do a vanishing act, too, because for the last month it’s been like a volcanic belly eruption.
Be patient. You’ve come so far. I know you’re in Go-Go-Go mode but weight loss isn’t what or when we expect it to be. We expect so much of our lives to be “on demand” now. I’m putting in the effort, dammit, give me the reward!!!!!That was me, too.
It’s unreasonable to expect it to keep coming off at that rate. Be grateful it did. There’s many others here who’d give their eye teeth to be in our shoes.

No. I view it as I spent 15 minutes of my life crafting a caring and considered response to a person I do not know, but oddly enough, care about enough to identify with what they’ve gone through and am hopefully throwing them some useful bones.
So what if it’s a bot? My 15 minutes cost me nothing and maybe another person will read it resurrect this thread down the road and find my answer useful. Life isn’t always a cost/benefit analysis.
And imho, bots don’t come back and call people names. That’s a sign of frustration. Bots that far along yet?10 -

I just checked by activity feed for the first time in two weeks. I was overwhelmed by all the activity.

That’s the real issue here, and there may not be a solution at this point. The boards were kicked hard a couple years ago, and this may be TKO.

You've lost at a very high rate, more than 2lbs per week. Thus your calorie deficit is more than 1000 calories per day. Of course it will slow down eventually because you can't run such a huge deficit with a small body with lower calorie needs. Thus yes, everything is working as expected. At your current weight you should not be looking at more than losing 1lbs per week to give your body proper nutrition.2

I miss my newsfeed.
Some people who I was really trying to help haven’t logged in for days since the demise of the newsfeed.
These forums are a pita to navigate.
There’s a few groups that are active.
