My name is Donna. I am 5โ 5โ tall, 64 years old and from Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

06/04-182.6-(Trend Weight 184.9)-
06/05-181.2-(Trend Weight 184.5)- Iโm starting with a bit of a drop back to 181. Last time I hit it (a few days ago) I immediately went into self-sabotage because I was so close to the coveted 170โs. I wonโt be doing this today but I know the battle is one day at a time. I still have not been out-of-town for my shopping as I wanted to make some progress before travel. Iโll go soon. I am experimenting with protein shakes but didnโt have one yesterday because I had chicken breast for dinner. Last night went well in the snack department. I was thinking this morning about how simple it is to get through a day without the need to snack. But night time is when the monsters come out. I am realizing that its all about โthe habitโ of the snacks. And the habit of no snacks throughout the day. Itโs not that I wonโt eat the donuts if someone brings them in during the day, but I just donโt reach for snacks. Itโs just not part of my routine. I need to really work on โthe habitsโ of the night--Bedtime routines. I need to pay more attention to when I am actually hungry. Just reflecting here, but if this sounds familiar to you, know you are not alone. Itโs a journey, yes indeed it is.
06/06-181.4-(Trend Weight 184.2)- I typed my weight today in the neutral black because I know it is just a fluctuation or a correction of itself. Yesterday was a day without a whole lot of activity but I did get in a morning Youtube workout before the guys arrived. Chicken for dinner again which kept me pretty satisfied last night. Today is pre-logged so hopefully I can stick to my guns and hit 180 point something soon. I would love to be teetering on the 170โs. Enjoy your day everyone. A little cooler in Northern Michigan today. Rain likely later (again).

Tomorrow we are getting our new range hood. So that is exciting.
I ordered new pants, from the same store where I bought my current pants from, with the same fit. I bought the next size lower. My pants feel kind of weird, like they donโt fit, but I keep pulling them up higher. So, it might be that I am ready for the lower size. Weโll see when they come in.
Thanks @cattherien - I may have found a Fatherโs Day gift for my husband!
To Do:
At least look at the tomatoes to be sure they are OK. Set one up.
Cook dinner

*** Goals***
Non-weight goals are to make my porridge every day and have standardized meals, with a different salad or soup added in.
Exercise goals are to stretch 2x a day and walk 5 days a week, minimum a mile.
Get more sleep.
Weight goal - lose 4 pounds in June - so land at 210.4
05/31 - 214.2 reaching for 212.6 to start the next leg of my journey.
06/01. 212.6 ๐ I did it, I am starting the next leg! Whoo Hoo!
06/02 - 212.8 the 212 stuck!
06/03 - 211.8 - It looks like a lot of weight, but I am eating around 1600 calories a day and it is a wide variety of healthy food. I think that the 214 - 212 was just clearing out the inflammation because of the extra salt and sugar. I figure itโs going to slow to 1# a week now, which feels good to me.
06/04 - 212.6 - up down up down - still down though overall
06/05 - 213.0 - oops - going the wrong way! But Iโve been within my calorie goals. Maybe I need to up my water during the day.
06/06 - 212.6 - hanging on the lower end. Thatโs good. A couple months ago I hadnโt even seen this number.

Each Month I write a reflection on how the month went. Here is mine from May if you want to read. For the new people (and the not so new)- I strongly encourage you to take some before pictures. I didn't do so in the beginning and I regret it. It takes a LONG time to actually see a difference in yourself, and to be honest takes a long time for those that are around you every day to see it too. If you take some before and after pictures every month you'll notice the difference sooner, which can be quite a motivating to keep going. You will acctually see all the hard work that you are doing is paying off. And believe me it is really hard! Be proud of what you are doing - put yourself first sometimes. You are allowed to do so! You've Got This!
May Reflection
Iโll start with the good this month. I lost weight this month! Not the four pounds I wanted to lose but a loss. Two pounds towards my goal and met my goal to get into the 140s! I am down 78.4 pounds since starting my weight loss journey.
I reached the 1,200 mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024. I have logged 1,215 miles to date. My tracker remains in the purple range (that means I will make it). So far have averaged 7.99 miles per day. This tracker is all miles walked โ not just intentional. I am also tracking my intentional miles, just to see how I do. To date I have tracked 917.9 intentional miles. This puts me at 45% complete (just ahead of where I should be to meet the goal).
My Biggest Loser and Hogwarts challenges both were running in May. I have wonderful teams for both challenges. Such a fantastic and inspiring group of people all helping each other meet our goals. I have said it before and I will say it again, I wouldnโt be where I am without them. They keep me motivated and accountable and make this journey a fun one.
Now for the ugly - I had an injury mid-month that has been very discouraging for my goals. I hurt my knee somehow which has limited my mobility. For the past couple weeks have been limited to a few small walks, and mostly seated chair exercises. I found a couple workouts that are halfway decent, but honestly donโt know how well I am actually burning calories. I had an orthopedic appointment and MRI, but am still waiting for my follow-up appointment to discuss what they found. It is scheduled for June 4th. I have been continuing the strength, cardio, and stretch exercises but my 17K a day steps didnโt happen. I did not meet my 250 miles or my 150 miles of intentional walking this month.
I finished the first book of the Harry Potter series, along with my Hogwarts Challenge. I am continuing to read the third book of the Invisible Library Series โ โThe Burning Pageโ, but honestly donโt really enjoy it โ so it has been a tough one.
I have realized that my mission to reach the ideal range by my birthday in August will be a stretch and that is disappointing. Realistically, and at the rate I have been losing lately, it will probably be October so am setting this as my new goal. After reaching, I want to lose another five pounds to keep myself under control. My goal to reach that additional five pounds is my two-year mark on this journey โ January 8, 2025!
I WILL get there.
My June Goals:
โข Lose 4 pounds (always my goal), but be happy with a 2% loss for the month
โข Alternate days of Cardio and Strength Training
โข Stretch 3 days per week
โข Finish the Burning Page and find something fun to read
My Before and After for May:
๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช๐ซ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME!
June 1: 149.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช๐ซ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! Got it all done yesterday. Today will be a fun day - still hope to get it all done. My sister is having a picnic today, with the family and friends. I promise to make some good choices and will do my best to log everything. Hoping not to see the 50s tomorrow but I do expect it - and it will be temporary!
June 2: 150.2 ๐๐ฆ๐ฎME! What I expected, but had a wonderful time yesterday. I logged everything (and it wasn't pretty). Back to it today!
June 3: 148 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช๐ซ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! I got it all done. It was the last day of the Hogwarts challenge and I had to meet my unbreakable vow. Silly me, vowed to average at least 100 minutes of intentional exercise over four weeks. I started out ok, but then my knee injury came in week three. Without my hour walk in the AM, 100 minutes is a LOT - especially in a chair. But I did it (it helped that I did a lot in the beginning of the month)! Also at the end of last month I decided to give my plateau a boost and ordered a week of Nutrisystem. It appears to be working. My body probably just needed a change in diet!
June 4: 148.2 ๐ ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! It was bingo night with Mom last night, noone won. I did have a peppermint patty - which is off my plan this week. Slightly over on the calories. Didn't make my step goal yesterday, thinking I might be a stretch, but will keep it there until I hear from the doctor today. I am a little nervous about what she will say - hoping at least they can tell me why I hurt.
June 5: 147 ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! Complete rest day for me. First no exercise day in a LONG time. I am going to start doing this once a week. Had my follow-up appointment yesterday - torn meniscus with moderate arthritis. My doctor said that the combination of the two makes the treatment a little trickier. The meniscus tear surgery can lead to worsening the arthritis. With that in mind she suggested a cortizone shot. I went with that option, I don't feel much differnt today - but she said it might take a bit. Fingers crossed it works. I am very happy about my weight loss - looks like the Nutrisystem boost is working - probably coupled with the ibuprofen detox!
June 6: 146.8 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ซ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! Beautiful day, we spent it on the boat on the Connecticut River. I don't know what it is - but just so relaxing sitting on the water. Got in a small seated cardio, and some stretching when we go home. The NS still appears to be working, so ordered another week and then I am done. They had a free order a la cart trial for the month - just what I needed.
June 7: 146.7 ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! Quiet day for me. Felt a little better so cleaned the kitchen and family room, and vaccuumed. Then felt a little sore. Hoping to finish the downstairs today. I also got in a STANDING strength workout (knee friendly - no squats, no lunges) and it felt wonderful. Hoping to get in a 1/2 mile walk today - baby steps! Didn't meet my step goal - but easing into it. I kind of feel guilty about claiming the ones above - because they were seated steps - but then I said - it was still steps - take the win!

Yay little drop! Hit all my goals yesterday, including water. After work I'd stopped at the grocery store and bought some decaf tea bags as well as one of the tea flavored squirt thingies, making sure it didn't have caffeine. It doesn't taste bad at all, and I used just the barest squeeze possible. I also made some more sun tea with only 1 tea bag, and I'll try that out to see how it does. I slept normally last night with no heartburn, so if I do the sun tea today and the heartburn returns then at least I know there's limits to how much tea I can drink irregardless of the caffeine, and I have that Mio thing as backup. Drink mo' watah is my mantra today.

@ilive2walk watching you talk about the knee issues is so familiar. Back in 2018, I tore my right MCL. I hope therapy does you a world of good.
@jm216 I also love orange and wear it intentionally! But my favorite color is a pale creamy yellow. Ironically that color looks terrible on me.๐คฆ๐2 -

06/07-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- Today is my normal no-weigh Friday. Yesterday was a so-so day. I did not follow my pre-logged foods and ended choosing not-so-wisely in most cases, even if it fit in my macros. I found my choices to be frivolous, lazy and not very fulfilling. I will make better actual choices today by pre-logging and actually STICKING TO IT!!! Exercise was mediocre at best but I did get a little bit in. Hard to do with contractors all day and my DGS arrived in the evening for an overnight. I did start today with another short youtube video before he woke up today.

Well that bday turned into a 3 day binge fest I was not proud of. Hence why I didnโt post my weight in 6/5 til now. I got back on the wagon hard yesterday. Kind of kicking myself bc I know where I was and where I could have been. The leftover Mexican killed me Tuesday along with pie. Then Wednesday we went to a pizza buffet for lunch at work for my birthday and I was adamant that was my only meal for the day. My head said otherwise and ended up having McDonaldโs for dinner too. I havenโt been sleeping well lately and took Thursday afternoon off and took a 2 hour nap then fell asleep at 9:30. I donโt think I will make 145 in a week unless I really cut calories, which I might depending on how occupied I get getting ready for vacation. It was soo hard to hop back on yesterday after falling off. I knew I had the mental fortitude to say no to food, but I just wanted to graze. It was soo bad, but Iโm here now and back.4 -

Enjoying the intermittent fasting. Don't miss breakfast and can comfortably go without.
Went for health check in local gym and bloods all good.

I know I'm in the early weight loss honeymoon, but I'll take anything I can get. ๐
Wishing you all best best of luck in reaching your goals this month, but mostly thank you for the welcome. ๐

Starting the June Challenge:
Lurked around last month as started my weight loss journey on 18th May. Since then I've lost 5lbs, which I'm really excited about.
I'm mixing up intermittent fasting with a minimum of 10,000 steps per day.
The aim this month is:

GW: 165
UGW: 140
Based in London and this journey started when I was on the tube and a young women asked me if I wanted her seat. I politely declined but couldn't get it out of my head. I kept wondering if she thought I was pregnant or really old ๐ค whatever the reason I knew I had to do something. So the next day 18th May I started walking a minimum of 10,000 steps.
I should really thank her, because I've been wanting to get healthier and reduce my BMI but just kept filling myself with takeaways because of convenience. At one stage I was gonna buy shares in JustEat and Uber Eats to get some of my money back ๐
All the best to you all on getting to your GW this June. ๐3 -

June 8: 146.2 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ซ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! Happy Weekend! I got in a 1/2 mile walk - Woo Hoo. Was going to attempt to do my cardio routine standing - but ending up sitting down. Guess I'm not ready for that. Didn't get the rest of the house cleaned - hubby took down a tree yesterday that was blocking the sun for the garden. I watch while he drops the tree to make sure that he is safe. It got hung up in another tree (yes this is Dรฉjร vu the same thing happened the last time he dropped a tree)- so was out there until he could get it safely to the ground. Before I knew it the day was gone.

@jm216 Happy Weekend to you! My favorite is green! ๐ด๐๐๐ต
@cattherien Good luck with the tea experiment. ๐ซ
@kebass01 Don't beat yourself up too much - but that being said - you can't let it de-rail you. This is one less I learned this time around - I would always quit after a binge. This time around I just said "NO" get back at it. You will have times that aren't as good as they could be - but NEVER give up. You've fot this!4 -
For those that make be interested - The Hogwarts Challenge is starting up again soon. I aways promote this group - it has been a godsend for me. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and this group keeps me on track in a such a fun way. I am going to be honest - it is A LOT! But so creative. Here is the link to join if you are interested. By the way - I am a Hufflepuff!
