Taking away the newsfeed is taking away family

So many of us have built bonds in groups of many. Families have grown over 10 years and people are truly grieving.

It's shameful that you would do something to take away a safe space for 1000s.

Take a minute to think about the bonds and support some may otherwise not have!

Loved the newsfeed. Can't figure out why the powers that be decided to scrap it.

I know people are going to hate me for saying it..I just don't get it...if these are such good friends why would it be so hard to start a thread on community board or invite them to a group??? Or just add them on Facebook if you've been so involved for 10 years? I feel so much more comfortable talking to people I don't know personally on a public space than a private one!

They said by the End of June,LIES!!!Its gone.No feed ,it’s pointless.

If they said by the end of June, and if it is gone for you now, they didn't lie.

Yes this is horrible that they took it away.. now it’s like counting calories on a piece of paper! Why even have the app
    Newsfeed was the whole idea!

I thought the whole idea was the logging - diet, exercise, reports.

    They are still there.

It was no longer supported and too expensive to fix. A simple cost accounting exercise.

Apparently, the friend list is also still there via the website: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/friends

With 21 and counting threads lamenting the removal of the newsfeeds, you aren’t alone! I hope you can find a way to connect with your fitfam!

    invite them to a group???
MFP groups are currently horribly broken and nearly unusable. Urban legend says there are happy group users, but these rumors of their existence have never been confirmed.

Log it as an issue. Friends should still be there.

Yes, I remember having this option to write my thoughts that won't be available to my family but a way to write out my thoughts on a daily basis.. that I can refer back to. and close friends can respond to. Reminds me of the loss of Spark People... Oh well,,,, anyone know any other sight that has both a food journal and a conversation journal?

I also miss the newsfeed. The app is not as much fun since I don’t get the encouragement I used to. Bad idea to take it away.

It wasn’t broken so why fix it? A great feature now gone and I don’t want to have to log on to message boards when I could so easily communicate in the app at the time I was using it.

That's been tried by numerous people, but bit by bit, they all drift away. The newsfeed was used, a lot, despite what MFP are saying. The newsfeed however, appeared when I logged on, I would scroll down, click "like" (or not click like), I would log my food and drink, log my exercise and it would appear on my own feed. Now though, I can't even see what friends' activities are, they can't see mine. To contact them, I have to message them.......seriously bad move on MFP's part as they will find out as premium subscriptions fall drastically as and when they are due.......

If you feel more comfortable talking to people you don't know personally on a public space, great, you always had that option, but those of us who liked the newsfeed, we no longer have an option, they removed that choice without even doing a survey.

Not a lot of use, as when you click on a friend on that, you cannot see any of their activities at all.
