Perfect Timing! Thank you @dawnbgethealthy for initiating this challenge. Just really getting started with a weight loss program about 2 weeks ago. I need the accountability. Thanks @deepwoodslady for the dates template. I am SHenson3206. My current weight 171.4 Height is 5'5". My goals is to be 21 lbs lighter in 100 days. Recent blood work says I am prediabetic...not having any of that!

Come on Week #4! I love how I'm learning to fuel my body. I'm really thinking about my food/drink choices, increasing my activity as well as varying my activity. Every part of my being feels better today than I felt 4 weeks ago. Lessons are being learned and by the end of my journey I will not be denied success. Amen!

Week#6: Vacation was wonderful and I can see clearly now how completely connected my choices are to what happens in my body! That includes eating, drinking, sleeping, and movement. We took a cross country road trip to South Dakota and Montana. I was not able to weigh in, but I could feel what was happening within. The trip was amazing but my eating and my movement and my sleeping (and my elimination) were all impacted. Yet and still, the journey provided me with miroscopic insight into the power of Me! I can do this and I know that power lies within me. Thank You God and thanks to all who included me in your thoughts and prayers! Let's get this done...16 pounds to go!

Week 7: Vacation was fun! holidays are a delight! Living healthy is the best! While I've only lost 6.4 pounds thus far, which is around 29% of what my goal is for this challenge, I am very pleased with the change in my mindset. This goal WILL be achieved and Diabetes will have no part in my journey here on The Earth. Praying for everyone who is a part of the Challenge! let's get this done!

Day 43—08/30 – 145.6 - Trying to sleep until 9am before/after longer work days. I normally don't leave for work until Saturday at 3:30, but was offered an extra shift at my day job restaurant Saturday morning, so I will be doing that. Finally the weather will be back to seasonal, but I will be inside all day, no tan on my legs lol. I have Sunday off, and finish at 8 both tonight and tomorrow, so all good. I am going to need a refeed, I have only been able to get around 1,000 calories a day this past week. '
Day 44—08/31 – 146.2 - Calories and exercise were on point, but I had 2 black russians last night. Alcohol is definitely bad for weight loss. Having said that, tonight after my 2 jobs I plan on having more, + nachos. Just heading into the garden to cut stuff for that much later.
Day 45—09/01 – 146.8 - Late in posting today. Got both sides of the backyard and side yard grass cut. Went shopping. Kind of an indulgent weekend plan, only one 4 hour job tomorrow because of the stat, and Tuesday off. Loosening the reins. I barely get enough calories during my 3 quite long workdays, and not much better on the other 2. Too late for a meal when I get home. Today, Monday, and Tuesday I am going to have actual dinners. Also just made a gin and lemonade after coming in from the sun. Perfect indulgence for me.
Day 46—09/02 – 147.6 - 3am weigh-in, so it might be a bit skewed. I was going to try to go back to bed, still might, but up enjoying a nice Italian roast coffee and listening to overnight international radio, which I don't get to do very often and love so much. Treating this as a day off even though I have a 4 hour work shift way later, I don't leave until 10:30am. Calories and exercise were good yesterday, some treats (4 Jane's wings, 2 cocktails), but all within range.
Day 47—09/03 – 147.2 - Sad to see that I am sitting at my start weight. Very low calories yesterday, had to fake add something to be able to complete the day. Going to a lake today. First weekday off with hot weather, low wind, and zero appointments. I am first going to do some stuff in the yard and porch (like take down the garlic that was hanging to cure and putting it in its box).
Day 48—09/04 - 147.4 - I got to eat dinner 3 days in a row due to having my night job off for labour day. All good, but I am expecting a nice drop. 10 + hours of work between the 2 jobs today and tomorrow. Wing night at the bar tonight, so hoping to make some $$
Day 49—09/05 – 146.2 - I feel like when I consume more calories, like between 1300 and 1400 that I lose more weight than on the days where I struggle to get even 1,000 into me because of work schedules. As of last night I am back to finishing at 8pm except for Mondays. I think that this will help.
Got out into my bean patches this morning. Yes, they get taken over by bindweed, if I pull on it the whole bean plant comes out. That is what happened with my first planting, this was a late planting after digging out the first one trying to fight the losing battle of bindweed.
Anyway, I picked a big bowlful : - ) I will be eating beans after my second job this evening : - )

Aug 28th: n/a: Flew from Kelowna, BC to Austin Tx. All went well except mechanical issues on 1st plane so we missed our connection from Vancouver to Denver. Thankfully there was another flight out in a couple of hours. Met ‘my group’, “Babes Everywhere” (a few of us met back in the E-Diets days, then met the others when we moved over to Spark People, and finally to MFP) in time to join them for at the Salt-Lick BBQ.
Week 7:
Aug 29th: n/a: R & R Pool Day which ended with a Progressive dinner between 4 groups of two.
Aug 30th: n/a: Toured Luckenbach, Lunch at Arch Ray Winery, shopped in Fredericksburg, checked out the Fat *kitten* Winery, then on our way ‘home’ we stopped for dinner at Crazy Crepes which is operated by the deaf community. Totally amazing!!
Aug 31st: n/a Did the Hamilton Pool hike, waded and swam, then checked out Texas Hill Country Olive company for lunch. Easy afternoon then we returned for more pool time and packed up for tomorrow. Our hostess treated us to a fabulous home cooked meal.
Sept 1st: n/a On the road by 9:30 as two had early flights out of Austin. We then toured Rainey St. in Austin, listened to live music at the Whole Hog BBQ, etc. Two more had early afternoon flights home, so after dropping them off at the airport, Cindy and Troy took Diane and myself for a late lunch in Austin and we checked out 6th Ave., Austin. Back to airport to board flight back to Calgary then on to Kelowna.
Sept 2nd: n/a Kelowna to home; coffee with DS & family, lunch with SMom, then on home
Sept 3rd: 176.8 . Cousin in N Van has been moved from hospital to Hospice to traveling down to see him. Recently diagnosed with cancers. Stayed with GF.
Sept 4th: n/a Went back for quick visit with cousin(s), dropped in to see a friend in assisted care in Coquitlam, then a 6hr drive home. Good to be home.

Thoughts at the beginning of this challenge:
Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl, uphill, both ways. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I CAN make, no matter how big or small. Sadly, I gained a little over 6 pounds last round. I hope to turn all that back around this round. After all, here in Northern Michigan I wait a very long time each year to finally get to good weather and more outside activity. I really want to capitalize on the good weather in the summer months and increase activity and drop pounds. I’m failing miserably with this so far in 2024. Time to maximize the rest of summer and early fall with challenge #20 and make the magic happen! I am so very grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Day 48-09/04-190.8-(Trend weight 191.5) I woke up STARVING today. Likely due to the drop on the scale. I’ll have to plan my food carefully today . I have a haircut today at the local salon then the roofing supplies are being delivered today by a home improvement truck. And my Qty 65 Fourteen foot treated 2 x 6 boards may arrive at the Amish lumber yard today for me to begin picking up as it will take several trips due to the weight. If they don’t come in today then it will be next week due to holiday delays. So it will be a busy busy day. I hope all this will help keep my mind off food. My dinner will be key since I will need to avoid so many night time snacks when the day winds down and there is more time to eat. It’s a plan. Wow, almost half way through the challenge already and all I’ve EXCELLED at is gaining weight! The second half needs to be different, VERY different.
Day 49-09/05-190.8-(Trend weight 191.4) Weight the same as yesterday, trend weight down a notch. After my haircut I did end up eating off a food truck because I was Starving and I could feel my glucose dropping. It was beef-a-roo truck. I had 3 small chicken strips and some fries where each French fry was so tiny I had to use my bifocals to see them. The food was bland, simplistic and pretty awful. I won’t be doing THAT again! Glad to see my weight sustained and I sincerely hope it don’t rear its ugly head in the days coming. I did tip-toe around food last night for dinner because of it and made some definite adjustments. This is really all about lifestyle changes and I’m glad I was able to make adjustments to my dinner and snack schedule to accommodate without too much trouble. Baby steps getting back in the saddle again.

Hi, Folks! My name is Darin, and this is my 3rd 100 days challenge (non-consecutive). I do better when I am obligated to post daily – it really makes a difference for me – and I love the community aspect. I’m looking forward to another great 100d!
Starting Weight: 159.2Day 01--07/19 – 159.2 My company was affected by the Crowdstrike problem. I spent all day on hold with IT. My computer is finally working, but it’s after an entire wasted day. Note to self: next time there’s a system-wide failure, just leave the computer and do something fun instead. It wasn’t worth hanging around my work computer, looking at messages come in. I could have had a nice day of paint-by-numbers! Well, that’s my weekend.Day 43—08/30 –156.7 TGIF! And a long weekend to boot! I’m excited. We have some shopping ahead, and some walking in nature, and some socializing ahead! I have way too many apples so will be making either a crisp or a pie – so will have to give away most of it 😉 Oh, and I forgot a fantasy football draft on Monday - we're going to grill out ahead of time (going to put some yummy veg on the grill).
Day 02—07/20 – 158.6 Happy Weekend! I hope y’all are doing well. I’m so glad to have some time to relax and putter around the house. Also in charge of dinner for tonight, so will try to come up with something satisfying but healthy.
Day 03—07/21 –159.6 mixed results for last night. I made a kung pao chicken noodle dish which turned out very good, but I also baked cookies which were not part of the plan. So four cookies later, I had nulled out any positivity from the dinner.
Day 04—07/22 –159.9 COOKIES. Too many cookies! Stopped at four yesterday straight out of the oven. But cookie breakfast AND snack isn’t the way I want to go. I also feel kind of bleh afterwards – I think it’s just the empty calories/sugar. Logging it all, though. No matter what!
Day 05—07/23 –159.2 Hard to focus at work today. Migraine did not help matters at all.
Day 06—07/24 –158.6 Almost done with week 1! We’re walking early in the day due to the heat. Tonight it’s back to trivia. We won first place last week, so it remains to be seen how well we do tonight 😊
Day 07—07/25 –158.7 Got 4th place yesterday in trivia. Boo! Next time around…. Looking forward to Friday tomorrow. My husband bought some apple fritters which are now in the house. It’s going to be hard to do that in moderation!

Day 14—08/01 –158.0 Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. Long, tough workday today. At least got the walk out of the way early in the very humid day.

Day 15—08/02 –158.6 survived the workday. Looking forward to a peaceful weekend ahead. One of the activities is taking my mom out for birthday dinner, so that’ll be a real test of moderation.
Day 16—08/03 –156.9 Woot! Maybe I’m out of the 158s now? That would be super. I’ve been hanging out there for some time now. Had a lovely day of painting and playing around, then cooked a nice dinner for Josh and me – it wasn’t calorie-conscious, but I only ate one serving 😊 There’s a berry cheesecake defrosting, though, so I’m going to have to be very wary around that!!!
Day 17—08/04 –157.0 That cheesecake was delicious. It was hard to keep it to one serving! I was very close to just saying “too delicious for just one slice” lol. It’s still in the fridge, though – so if I can hold it together for the rest of the day, maybe I can have another slice. *maybe*
Day 18—08/05 –157.8 Eating out yesterday plus the cheesecake equalled a bit of a slide backwards. But today I’ve been doing okay. Going to give that last slice of cheesecake to my husband – he’ll appreciate that!
Day 19—08/06 –158.4 Well all good intentions, my husband ended up giving me back the cheesecake slice. I swore, then I ate it. So the scale is definitely deserved.
Day 20—08/07 –157.4 Going out to play trivia tonight! Looking forward to a little relaxation at the local tavern. They have a “design your own salad” option that I’m very much anticipating.
Day 21—08/08 –158.1 and I opted to have a hot dog and tater tots instead of salad. Whoops. We got second place at trivia, though, so it was a sweet victory! Okay next time I’m getting the salad. Non-scout’s honor.

Day 22—08/09 –158.1 Another work week done. Soooo looking forward to some R&R! going to try to fit in some extra walking this weekend if not a trip to the gym. Also donating platelets on Sunday, which I try to do at least monthly.
Day 23—08/10 –157.3 It was very hot and humid today, so we skipped our walk. Tomorrow will get up early to exercise and hope to beat the heat. looneycatblue I take iron supplements daily to help with my levels. It took a while of taking them to get stabilized – a few weeks might not be enough prep time for you.

Day 25—08/12 –159.3 CMON. I did donate platelets on Sunday, beforewhich I got breakfast at McDonald’s. That might have been a reason for this jump. It was a lot of salt and fat and calories! Well will try to hold things together this week…

Day 29—08/16 –157.7 I needed to take a break from hawking over MFP, so I had a nice, moderate dinner at Texas Roadhouse yesterday evening, and had some leftovers today. It feels like the scale is tipping back in the right direction, so there’s at least that.

Day 36—08/23 –157.2 It’s been a tough couple of migraine days. And, let’s face it, “it tastes good” days. And not even for high-value quality food, either! That’s the worst part. If I was having a nosh on some bacon or some cheesecake that’d be one thing. But eating a serving of leftovers because I enjoyed it? Not the level I want to be hanging out on. At least if I’m going over on calories let’s have it be for something that’s worth it.

Day 40—08/27 –156.7 very determined to have a great September 😊 going to make sure I’m logging everything (I’ve been slacking) and up the activity. I really hate, hate, hate new years resolutions. I figure if you want to make a change, just make it already! So my non-new years resolution is to take better care of myself. dawnbgethealthy I am sensitive to pressure changes too. I get migraines if there are sudden drops or rises - and being tired is one of the symptoms. I used to call my brain a barometer because gosh help us if we're in danger of a hurricane!
Day 41—08/28 –156.5 long day, but had a great session with my therapist, and we’re going out to the local tavern to play trivia tonight. So will try to eat in moderation while there 😊
Day 42—08/29 –157.0 did well at the pub, not great at the trivia 😊 I had an unhealthy hot dog with fries but cut the entire plate in half and couldn’t even finish the half I was going to eat. So there’s at least that. Note to self: hot dog with chili and coleslaw doesn’t reheat so great.

Day 44—08/31 –155.8 I’m a little surprised by this but keeping calm – I think I’m dehydrated. So I’ll make sure I’m drinking enough water to level things out. Already have had a nice walk (check!) and am about to do a tad bit of work (can’t wait to check this one off), then off for some shopping.
Day 45—09/01 –156.0 No more work this long weekend! Had a relaxing day yesterday – cleaned the master bathroom, played some games, cooked dinner (pepper chicken, turned out great!). While the chicken wasn’t the healthiest flex (chicken was fried before it was tossed in stir fry sauce), it was delicious, and I held myself to one serving. So I’d call that a success.
Day 46—09/02 –156.5 Okay, yesterday went *okay*. Had a taco salad for dinner last night and didn’t eat too much of the tortilla bowl, and also didn’t finish it. Last day of my long weekend – I’m a little sad! But going to see the in=laws today and grill out for dinner before the Fantasy Football draft. As mentioned earlier, will be grilling a lot of fun vegetables. My allergies and migraine are also going a little nuts as they tend to do with weather changes – we had a front come through yesterday. Hopefully things will stabilize today.

Day 50—09/06 – 65 kg. I am really uncertain how much I weigh. My bathroom scale is inaccurate, since the floor is uneven and gives different readings in different places. Still, people are complimenting me on weight loss, and I can fit into smaller size clothes, so - okay, I guess? Think I may need to check at the doctor's surgery.

Day 47—09/03 – 169.6 - I haven't posted since Day 21 (Aug 8) due to health issues. I'm 100% recuperated now and glad to be back tracking! I'm not sure what my weight will do over the next week since I lost 8 pounds (from not eating and dehydration) over 2 weeks and then gained 6 pounds back once I had an appetite again. I'm just concentrating on exercising, eating right (and below maintenance), and drinking enough water.

Day 03—07/21 – 172.6 - This is my 4th day at this exact weight. My plan today is to drink 80oz of water, lower my carbs and eat on the low end of my calorie cycyling.
Day 04—07/22 – 172.4 - Only a .2 loss but I'm glad 172.6 is gone. I am an impatient cook and really don't enjoy cooking at all so I tend to do whatever I can that is easy, and I make a lot of it to eat on for days. Yesterday, I cooked a lot of skinless, boneless chicken breast in a dutch oven with spices and a little chicken broth. Once cooked, I shredded them. The day before I cooked a ton of fresh organic carrots, and I steamed a big pot of broccoli. All are in the fridge to eat however, and whenever, we want.

This 100 day challenge is just what I needed to get back on track. Back in May, we went on vacation, and afterwards I could not get back on track. Vacation always sets me off and it's so hard for me to get back. But, thanks to all of you here doing this challenge, I have others "watching" which I really need.
I'm hoping to be in "onederland" by the end of this challenge! The last time I was under 200 was back at the end of 2020/beginning of 2021. I lost 60 pounds back then, but then I gained 40 back. In January of this year, I lost some, but then that vacation and two months afterwards, I gained some back. Before that short-time of being in "onederland" a few years ago, the last time I was under 200 was about 25 years ago! I can't wait to see it again!4 -

Thoughts at the beginning of this challenge:
Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl, uphill, both ways. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I CAN make, no matter how big or small. Sadly, I gained a little over 6 pounds last round. I hope to turn all that back around this round. After all, here in Northern Michigan I wait a very long time each year to finally get to good weather and more outside activity. I really want to capitalize on the good weather in the summer months and increase activity and drop pounds. I’m failing miserably with this so far in 2024. Time to maximize the rest of summer and early fall with challenge #20 and make the magic happen! I am so very grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.

After my haircut I did end up eating off a food truck because I was Starving and I could feel my glucose dropping. It was beef-a-roo truck. I had 3 small chicken strips and some fries where each French fry was so tiny I had to use my bifocals to see them. The food was bland, simplistic and pretty awful. I won’t be doing THAT again! Glad to see my weight sustained and I sincerely hope it don’t rear its ugly head in the days coming. I did tip-toe around food last night for dinner because of it and made some definite adjustments. This is really all about lifestyle changes and I’m glad I was able to make adjustments to my dinner and snack schedule to accommodate without too much trouble. Baby steps getting back in the saddle again.

Day 50-09/06-189.4-(Trend weight 191.2) I usually don’t weigh on Fridays as I don’t get enough of a time span between my last night-time snack and my early rising to get my DGS off to school once day per week. There’s also the Fosamax and the gulping of water. The normal span between food and morning is usually about 4.5 hours since I stay up very late by (retirement) habit. However, last night I dozed off early and had a 6.5 hours span this morning so I stepped on the scale. It was nice to see a drop. Yesterday stayed level so it’s nice to see progress after a couple of disciplined days in a row. Even though my daughter and DGS are here I hope to link up another good day. Cold, Cloudy and Rain expected today so my roofing crew are fitting in what they can before the rain comes in. This is the kind of gloomy day that would be able to make you want to munch, snack, eat. I won’t be dictated today!

I know quite a few friends and family members with diabetes, and they range anywhere from: coke, juice, apple, sugar cube when they are having a drop.2 -

Day 50—09/06 – 146.0 - I was at 130 on my 61st birthday. By now I should be at my healthy weight of 110-118 for a 5'2" person, the trajectory looked promising. My highest weight btw was 207, I had high blood pressure and the doc told me to lose weight, so I did. It is a struggle. I did eat some of those wonderful green beans for dinner last night with a small potato salad made out of my garden and an egg.

Starting Weight: 159.2Day 01--07/19 – 159.2 My company was affected by the Crowdstrike problem. I spent all day on hold with IT. My computer is finally working, but it’s after an entire wasted day. Note to self: next time there’s a system-wide failure, just leave the computer and do something fun instead. It wasn’t worth hanging around my work computer, looking at messages come in. Day 02—07/20 – 158.6 Happy Weekend! I hope y’all are doing well. I’m so glad to have some time to relax and putter around the house. Also in charge of dinner for tonight, so will try to come up with something satisfying but healthy.
Day 03—07/21 –159.6 mixed results for last night. I made a kung pao chicken noodle dish which turned out very good, but I also baked cookies which were not part of the plan. So four cookies later, I had nulled out any positivity from the dinner.
Day 04—07/22 –159.9 COOKIES. Too many cookies! Stopped at four yesterday straight out of the oven. But cookie breakfast AND snack isn’t the way I want to go. I also feel kind of bleh afterwards – I think it’s just the empty calories/sugar. Logging it all, though. No matter what!
Day 05—07/23 –159.2 Hard to focus at work today. Migraine did not help matters at all.
Day 06—07/24 –158.6 Almost done with week 1! We’re walking early in the day due to the heat. Tonight it’s back to trivia. We won first place last week, so it remains to be seen how well we do tonight 😊
Day 07—07/25 –158.7 Got 4th place yesterday in trivia. Boo! Next time around…. Looking forward to Friday tomorrow. My husband bought some apple fritters which are now in the house. It’s going to be hard to do that in moderation!

Day 15—08/02 –158.6 survived the workday. Looking forward to a peaceful weekend ahead. One of the activities is taking my mom out for birthday dinner, so that’ll be a real test of moderation.
Day 16—08/03 –156.9 Woot! Maybe I’m out of the 158s now? That would be super. I’ve been hanging out there for some time now. Had a lovely day of painting and playing around, then cooked a nice dinner for Josh and me – it wasn’t calorie-conscious, but I only ate one serving 😊 There’s a berry cheesecake defrosting, though, so I’m going to have to be very wary around that!!!
Day 17—08/04 –157.0 That cheesecake was delicious. It was hard to keep it to one serving! I was very close to just saying “too delicious for just one slice” lol. It’s still in the fridge, though – so if I can hold it together for the rest of the day, maybe I can have another slice. *maybe*
Day 18—08/05 –157.8 Eating out yesterday plus the cheesecake equalled a bit of a slide backwards. But today I’ve been doing okay. Going to give that last slice of cheesecake to my husband – he’ll appreciate that!
Day 19—08/06 –158.4 Well all good intentions, my husband ended up giving me back the cheesecake slice. I swore, then I ate it. So the scale is definitely deserved.
Day 20—08/07 –157.4 Going out to play trivia tonight! Looking forward to a little relaxation at the local tavern. They have a “design your own salad” option that I’m very much anticipating.
Day 21—08/08 –158.1 and I opted to have a hot dog and tater tots instead of salad. Whoops. We got second place at trivia, though, so it was a sweet victory! Okay next time I’m getting the salad. Non-scout’s honor.

Day 22—08/09 –158.1 Another work week done. Soooo looking forward to some R&R! going to try to fit in some extra walking this weekend if not a trip to the gym. Also donating platelets on Sunday, which I try to do at least monthly.

Tomorrow will get up early to exercise and hope to beat the heat. looneycatblue I take iron supplements daily to help with my levels. It took a while of taking them to get stabilized – a few weeks might not be enough prep time for you.

If I was having a nosh on some bacon or some cheesecake that’d be one thing. But eating a serving of leftovers because I enjoyed it? Not the level I want to be hanging out on. At least if I’m going over on calories let’s have it be for something that’s worth it.

I figure if you want to make a change, just make it already! So my non-new years resolution is to take better care of myself. dawnbgethealthy I am sensitive to pressure changes too. I get migraines if there are sudden drops or rises - and being tired is one of the symptoms. I used to call my brain a barometer because gosh help us if we're in danger of a hurricane!

Day 42—08/29 –157.0 did well at the pub, not great at the trivia 😊 I had an unhealthy hot dog with fries but cut the entire plate in half and couldn’t even finish the half I was going to eat. So there’s at least that. Note to self: hot dog with chili and coleslaw doesn’t reheat so great.

Day 43—08/30 –156.7 TGIF! And a long weekend to boot! I’m excited. We have some shopping ahead, and some walking in nature, and some socializing ahead! I have way too many apples so will be making either a crisp or a pie – so will have to give away most of it 😉 Oh, and I forgot a fantasy football draft on Monday - we're going to grill out ahead of time (going to put some yummy veg on the grill).
Day 44—08/31 –155.8 I’m a little surprised by this but keeping calm – I think I’m dehydrated. So I’ll make sure I’m drinking enough water to level things out. Already have had a nice walk (check!) and am about to do a tad bit of work (can’t wait to check this one off), then off for some shopping.
Day 45—09/01 –156.0 No more work this long weekend! Had a relaxing day yesterday – cleaned the master bathroom, played some games, cooked dinner (pepper chicken, turned out great!). While the chicken wasn’t the healthiest flex (chicken was fried before it was tossed in stir fry sauce), it was delicious, and I held myself to one serving. So I’d call that a success.
Day 46—09/02 –156.5 Okay, yesterday went *okay*. Had a taco salad for dinner last night and didn’t eat too much of the tortilla bowl, and also didn’t finish it. Last day of my long weekend – I’m a little sad! But going to see the in=laws today and grill out for dinner before the Fantasy Football draft. As mentioned earlier, will be grilling a lot of fun vegetables. My allergies and migraine are also going a little nuts as they tend to do with weather changes – we had a front come through yesterday. Hopefully things will stabilize today.

@dawnbgethealthy It's pretty scary when it happens. Anything that has a rapid change in your body makes it really react in strange ways. A sugar packet is a good idea but it takes so long to increase the glucose that you just keep eating and eating until you can feel a difference. It's an instinct. It's hard to explain, but I guess the best example is that you are drowning and you don't just sink and hope someone will find you in time. You do everything you can to save yourself even if it's in a horrific panic. It's hard to just resign yourself to let yourself drown. It's against every instinct you have.
My long-time family doctor who is now retired had some good advice. She told me to keep Smarties candies in my purse or car. They really don't melt. They are packed very tightly so they really don't crush either. They last for a very long time before going stale as they are almost pure sugar. She even gave me a chart of how many to take based on what my glucose is reading. It's still a matter of sinking or a matter of trust but it did work. I'm not sure where the smarties chart is now since I change purses A LOT but there may be something online about it.
These drops have everything to do with the recent weight gain over the past months (since March). I just know it. The heavier I am, the worse my numbers are. I know this but it doesn't seem to make any difference when a craving or a hunger comes along. And cravings & hunger are a huge symptom of the diabetes itself so it's like a circle with suction. I guess what I'm saying is that it is key that I keep working on my weight and my overall health and get through what happens on occasion as best I can. I can't always control what happens, for sure. But I know I can do more. I know I can do better. I just may pick up some of those packets of sugar if they sell them at a standard grocery store. If not, I'll snatch a few packs from a restaurant in my travels. I drink my coffee black so I won't be using extra so therefore, I won't feel too guilty. Is that stealing? Hmmm gray area for sure. @tinathescreamer I have definitely had to deal with uneven floors so I know exactly what you mean. The way I handle this best is to put the scale in the EXACT same spot of the floor every morning. At least it will show the difference from one day to the next. True that it won't be a true accuracy of your exact weight but it should be a true accuracy of any overnight change that has occurred. It helps me to continue to track weight loss or weight gain. For me the doctor's scale is always higher as I have all my clothes on and is later than I would normally weigh. I've thought about taking my scale occasionally down to the basement floor or out to the sidewalk but there's no guarantee that they are any more level. Also, in all honesty, I'm a little afraid of what the scale might show lol.3 -

Thoughts at the beginning of this challenge:
Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl, uphill, both ways. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I CAN make, no matter how big or small. Sadly, I gained a little over 6 pounds last round. I hope to turn all that back around this round. After all, here in Northern Michigan I wait a very long time each year to finally get to good weather and more outside activity. I really want to capitalize on the good weather in the summer months and increase activity and drop pounds. I’m failing miserably with this so far in 2024. Time to maximize the rest of summer and early fall with challenge #20 and make the magic happen! I am so very grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Day 50-09/06-189.4-(Trend weight 191.2) I usually don’t weigh on Fridays as I don’t get enough of a time span between my last night-time snack and my early rising to get my DGS off to school once day per week. There’s also the Fosamax and the gulping of water. The normal span between food and morning is usually about 4.5 hours since I stay up very late by (retirement) habit. However, last night I dozed off early and had a 6.5 hours span this morning so I stepped on the scale. It was nice to see a drop. Yesterday stayed level so it’s nice to see progress after a couple of disciplined days in a row. Even though my daughter and DGS are here I hope to link up another good day. Cold, Cloudy and Rain expected today so my roofing crew are fitting in what they can before the rain comes in. This is the kind of gloomy day that would be able to make you want to munch, snack, eat. I won’t be dictated today!

Day 51-09/07-189.0-(Trend weight 191.0) My meals were pre-planned and very good. My snacks were pre-planned but I added to them out of sheer boredom I think. It was unnecessary. I’m grateful that the meals saved me and I still saw a drop on the scale this morning. I’ve got to be more mindful today (tonight)! I would love to be back in the 170’s by Christmas (at the Very Least). Something to aspire to.

I know quite a few friends and family members with diabetes, and they range anywhere from: coke, juice, apple, sugar cube when they are having a drop.
@dawnbgethealthy It's pretty scary when it happens. Anything that has a rapid change in your body makes it really react in strange ways. A sugar packet is a good idea but it takes so long to increase the glucose that you just keep eating and eating until you can feel a difference. It's an instinct. It's hard to explain, but I guess the best example is that you are drowning and you don't just sink and hope someone will find you in time. You do everything you can to save yourself even if it's in a horrific panic. It's hard to just resign yourself to let yourself drown. It's against every instinct you have.
My long-time family doctor who is now retired had some good advice. She told me to keep Smarties candies in my purse or car. They really don't melt. They are packed very tightly so they really don't crush either. They last for a very long time before going stale as they are almost pure sugar. She even gave me a chart of how many to take based on what my glucose is reading. It's still a matter of sinking or a matter of trust but it did work. I'm not sure where the smarties chart is now since I change purses A LOT but there may be something online about it.
These drops have everything to do with the recent weight gain over the past months (since March). I just know it. The heavier I am, the worse my numbers are. I know this but it doesn't seem to make any difference when a craving or a hunger comes along. And cravings & hunger are a huge symptom of the diabetes itself so it's like a circle with suction. I guess what I'm saying is that it is key that I keep working on my weight and my overall health and get through what happens on occasion as best I can. I can't always control what happens, for sure. But I know I can do more. I know I can do better. I just may pick up some of those packets of sugar if they sell them at a standard grocery store. If not, I'll snatch a few packs from a restaurant in my travels. I drink my coffee black so I won't be using extra so therefore, I won't feel too guilty. Is that stealing? Hmmm gray area for sure. Thanks for the idea.

My cousin when we were kids would have those drops. Orange juice seemed to be the quickest to reverse that...for her.
Smarties or sugar packets also would have a quick uptake. Much faster than "food" which might take hours to provide that quick reversal.
They have little glucose gel packets, you open them and squeeze them into your mouth. I know a guy who carries those around.
I am scared when I hear of your drops.

Day 50—09/06 – 146.0 - I was at 130 on my 61st birthday. By now I should be at my healthy weight of 110-118 for a 5'2" person, the trajectory looked promising. My highest weight btw was 207, I had high blood pressure and the doc told me to lose weight, so I did. It is a struggle. I did eat some of those wonderful green beans for dinner last night with a small potato salad made out of my garden and an egg.
Day 51—09/07— 146.2 - Saturday night after work is usually where I indulge a little in something that don't eat during the week. Not sure what that will be yet today. Beautiful and sunny here. I am going to get out into the yard for most of the day because I don't get ready for work until 3pm. Work on that tan : - )

Starting Weight: 159.2Day 01--07/19 – 159.2 My company was affected by the Crowdstrike problem. I spent all day on hold with IT. My computer is finally working, but it’s after an entire wasted day. Note to self: next time there’s a system-wide failure, just leave the computer and do something fun instead. It wasn’t worth hanging around my work computer, looking at messages come in. Day 02—07/20 – 158.6 Happy Weekend! I hope y’all are doing well. I’m so glad to have some time to relax and putter around the house. Also in charge of dinner for tonight, so will try to come up with something satisfying but healthy.
Day 03—07/21 –159.6 mixed results for last night. I made a kung pao chicken noodle dish which turned out very good, but I also baked cookies which were not part of the plan. So four cookies later, I had nulled out any positivity from the dinner.
Day 04—07/22 –159.9 COOKIES. Too many cookies! Stopped at four yesterday straight out of the oven. But cookie breakfast AND snack isn’t the way I want to go. I also feel kind of bleh afterwards – I think it’s just the empty calories/sugar. Logging it all, though. No matter what!
Day 05—07/23 –159.2 Hard to focus at work today. Migraine did not help matters at all.

Tomorrow will get up early to exercise and hope to beat the heat. looneycatblue I take iron supplements daily to help with my levels. It took a while of taking them to get stabilized – a few weeks might not be enough prep time for you.

Day 25—08/12 –159.3 CMON. I did donate platelets on Sunday, beforewhich I got breakfast at McDonald’s. That might have been a reason for this jump. It was a lot of salt and fat and calories! Well will try to hold things together this week…

Day 29—08/16 –157.7 I needed to take a break from hawking over MFP, so I had a nice, moderate dinner at Texas Roadhouse yesterday evening, and had some leftovers today. It feels like the scale is tipping back in the right direction, so there’s at least that.

Day 32—08/19 –157.4 back and forth a bit. My portion sizes are good, even if sometimes my selections aren’t the best (hello shrimp scampi and spaghetti noodles). Had a girls’ night in on Saturday and did well there too (Mediterranean food).
Day 33—08/20 –156.3 I hope y’all are doing well! It’s okay over here. Tough couple of work days made worse with migraine flaring yesterday. Still coming out of it… And yes, Texas Roadhouse! It's super indulgent (that bread!) and an "only once in a while" treat for me and my husband. :-)

Day 36—08/23 –157.2 It’s been a tough couple of migraine days. And, let’s face it, “it tastes good” days. And not even for high-value quality food, either! That’s the worst part. If I was having a nosh on some bacon or some cheesecake that’d be one thing. But eating a serving of leftovers because I enjoyed it? Not the level I want to be hanging out on. At least if I’m going over on calories let’s have it be for something that’s worth it.

Day 39—08/26 –156.9 slightly down. Looking over August I haven’t done great… but will just have to have a great September! We can do this!!!
Day 40—08/27 –156.7 very determined to have a great September 😊 going to make sure I’m logging everything (I’ve been slacking) and up the activity. I really hate, hate, hate new years resolutions. I figure if you want to make a change, just make it already! So my non-new years resolution is to take better care of myself. dawnbgethealthy I am sensitive to pressure changes too. I get migraines if there are sudden drops or rises - and being tired is one of the symptoms. I used to call my brain a barometer because gosh help us if we're in danger of a hurricane!
Day 41—08/28 –156.5 long day, but had a great session with my therapist, and we’re going out to the local tavern to play trivia tonight. So will try to eat in moderation while there 😊
Day 42—08/29 –157.0 did well at the pub, not great at the trivia 😊 I had an unhealthy hot dog with fries but cut the entire plate in half and couldn’t even finish the half I was going to eat. So there’s at least that. Note to self: hot dog with chili and coleslaw doesn’t reheat so great.

Day 43—08/30 –156.7 TGIF! And a long weekend to boot! I’m excited. We have some shopping ahead, and some walking in nature, and some socializing ahead! I have way too many apples so will be making either a crisp or a pie – so will have to give away most of it 😉 Oh, and I forgot a fantasy football draft on Monday - we're going to grill out ahead of time (going to put some yummy veg on the grill).
Day 44—08/31 –155.8 I’m a little surprised by this but keeping calm – I think I’m dehydrated. So I’ll make sure I’m drinking enough water to level things out. Already have had a nice walk (check!) and am about to do a tad bit of work (can’t wait to check this one off), then off for some shopping.
Day 45—09/01 –156.0 No more work this long weekend! Had a relaxing day yesterday – cleaned the master bathroom, played some games, cooked dinner (pepper chicken, turned out great!). While the chicken wasn’t the healthiest flex (chicken was fried before it was tossed in stir fry sauce), it was delicious, and I held myself to one serving. So I’d call that a success.
Day 46—09/02 –156.5 Okay, yesterday went *okay*. Had a taco salad for dinner last night and didn’t eat too much of the tortilla bowl, and also didn’t finish it. Last day of my long weekend – I’m a little sad! But going to see the in=laws today and grill out for dinner before the Fantasy Football draft. As mentioned earlier, will be grilling a lot of fun vegetables. My allergies and migraine are also going a little nuts as they tend to do with weather changes – we had a front come through yesterday. Hopefully things will stabilize today.

Sauce has a bit of sugar in it, so there’s that. Haven’t painted yet but will do so tomorrow. Have to go to the Asian market to get some supplies. I procrastinated and didn’t go today :-S but will try to get up the energy to go tomorrow.

@deepwoodslady I do try to keep it in the same place - I don't know who keeps shifting it!! The person who shares the house with me? The cat? The super sized spider that keeps crawling up the plughole?

Halfway Progress Report: …..Pounds Lost so Far: PLUS 0.2 kg. Oops.
Day 50—09/06 – 65 kg. I am really uncertain how much I weigh. My bathroom scale is inaccurate, since the floor is uneven and gives different readings in different places. Still, people are complimenting me on weight loss, and I can fit into smaller size clothes, so - okay, I guess? Think I may need to check at the doctor's surgery.
Day 51—09/07— 64.8 kg.
Day 52—09/08— 142 lb. Guess what! I have a new scale! Someone discerned my need - my sister heard me moaning about it and gave me her old one. It has much larger numbers and measures in pounds! Seeing I have lost 44 lb seems a lot more than 20 kg!
