    Day 50β€”09/06 – 65 kg. I am really uncertain how much I weigh. My bathroom scale is inaccurate, since the floor is uneven and gives different readings in different places. Still, people are complimenting me on weight loss, and I can fit into smaller size clothes, so - okay, I guess? Think I may need to check at the doctor's surgery.

    @tinathescreamer I have definitely had to deal with uneven floors so I know exactly what you mean. The way I handle this best is to put the scale in the EXACT same spot of the floor every morning. At least it will show the difference from one day to the next. True that it won't be a true accuracy of your exact weight but it should be a true accuracy of any overnight change that has occurred. It helps me to continue to track weight loss or weight gain. For me the doctor's scale is always higher as I have all my clothes on and is later than I would normally weigh. I've thought about taking my scale occasionally down to the basement floor or out to the sidewalk but there's no guarantee that they are any more level. Also, in all honesty, I'm a little afraid of what the scale might show lol.

    Thoughts at the beginning of this challenge:

    Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl, uphill, both ways. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I CAN make, no matter how big or small. Sadly, I gained a little over 6 pounds last round. I hope to turn all that back around this round. After all, here in Northern Michigan I wait a very long time each year to finally get to good weather and more outside activity. I really want to capitalize on the good weather in the summer months and increase activity and drop pounds. I’m failing miserably with this so far in 2024. Time to maximize the rest of summer and early fall with challenge #20 and make the magic happen! I am so very grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.



    Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    Day 50-09/06-189.4-(Trend weight 191.2) I usually don’t weigh on Fridays as I don’t get enough of a time span between my last night-time snack and my early rising to get my DGS off to school once day per week. There’s also the Fosamax and the gulping of water. The normal span between food and morning is usually about 4.5 hours since I stay up very late by (retirement) habit. However, last night I dozed off early and had a 6.5 hours span this morning so I stepped on the scale. It was nice to see a drop. Yesterday stayed level so it’s nice to see progress after a couple of disciplined days in a row. Even though my daughter and DGS are here I hope to link up another good day. Cold, Cloudy and Rain expected today so my roofing crew are fitting in what they can before the rain comes in. This is the kind of gloomy day that would be able to make you want to munch, snack, eat. I won’t be dictated today!

    Day 51-09/07-189.0-(Trend weight 191.0) My meals were pre-planned and very good. My snacks were pre-planned but I added to them out of sheer boredom I think. It was unnecessary. I’m grateful that the meals saved me and I still saw a drop on the scale this morning. I’ve got to be more mindful today (tonight)! I would love to be back in the 170’s by Christmas (at the Very Least). Something to aspire to.

    Could you keep a sugar cube or pack of sugar in your pocket in the future in case of a glucose drop?
    I know quite a few friends and family members with diabetes, and they range anywhere from: coke, juice, apple, sugar cube when they are having a drop.

    @dawnbgethealthy It's pretty scary when it happens. Anything that has a rapid change in your body makes it really react in strange ways. A sugar packet is a good idea but it takes so long to increase the glucose that you just keep eating and eating until you can feel a difference. It's an instinct. It's hard to explain, but I guess the best example is that you are drowning and you don't just sink and hope someone will find you in time. You do everything you can to save yourself even if it's in a horrific panic. It's hard to just resign yourself to let yourself drown. It's against every instinct you have.

    My long-time family doctor who is now retired had some good advice. She told me to keep Smarties candies in my purse or car. They really don't melt. They are packed very tightly so they really don't crush either. They last for a very long time before going stale as they are almost pure sugar. She even gave me a chart of how many to take based on what my glucose is reading. It's still a matter of sinking or a matter of trust but it did work. I'm not sure where the smarties chart is now since I change purses A LOT but there may be something online about it.

    These drops have everything to do with the recent weight gain over the past months (since March). I just know it. The heavier I am, the worse my numbers are. I know this but it doesn't seem to make any difference when a craving or a hunger comes along. And cravings & hunger are a huge symptom of the diabetes itself so it's like a circle with suction. I guess what I'm saying is that it is key that I keep working on my weight and my overall health and get through what happens on occasion as best I can. I can't always control what happens, for sure. But I know I can do more. I know I can do better. I just may pick up some of those packets of sugar if they sell them at a standard grocery store. If not, I'll snatch a few packs from a restaurant in my travels. I drink my coffee black so I won't be using extra so therefore, I won't feel too guilty. Is that stealing? Hmmm gray area for sure. Thanks for the idea.

    Just worried about you is all.
    My cousin when we were kids would have those drops. Orange juice seemed to be the quickest to reverse that...for her.
    Smarties or sugar packets also would have a quick uptake. Much faster than "food" which might take hours to provide that quick reversal.
    They have little glucose gel packets, you open them and squeeze them into your mouth. I know a guy who carries those around.

    I am scared when I hear of your drops.

    Day 50β€”09/06 – 146.0 - I was at 130 on my 61st birthday. By now I should be at my healthy weight of 110-118 for a 5'2" person, the trajectory looked promising. My highest weight btw was 207, I had high blood pressure and the doc told me to lose weight, so I did. It is a struggle. I did eat some of those wonderful green beans for dinner last night with a small potato salad made out of my garden and an egg.

Beautiful and sunny here. I am going to get out into the yard for most of the day because I don't get ready for work until 3pm. Work on that tan : - )

    Hi, Folks! My name is Darin, and this is my 3rd 100 days challenge (non-consecutive). I do better when I am obligated to post daily – it really makes a difference for me – and I love the community aspect. I’m looking forward to another great 100d!

    Day 01--07/19 – 159.2 My company was affected by the Crowdstrike problem. I spent all day on hold with IT. My computer is finally working, but it’s after an entire wasted day. Note to self: next time there’s a system-wide failure, just leave the computer and do something fun instead. It wasn’t worth hanging around my work computer, looking at messages come in. I could have had a nice day of paint-by-numbers! Well, that’s my weekend.
    Day 02β€”07/20 – 158.6 Happy Weekend! I hope y’all are doing well. I’m so glad to have some time to relax and putter around the house. Also in charge of dinner for tonight, so will try to come up with something satisfying but healthy.
    Day 03β€”07/21 –159.6 mixed results for last night. I made a kung pao chicken noodle dish which turned out very good, but I also baked cookies which were not part of the plan. So four cookies later, I had nulled out any positivity from the dinner.
    Day 04β€”07/22 –159.9 COOKIES. Too many cookies! Stopped at four yesterday straight out of the oven. But cookie breakfast AND snack isn’t the way I want to go. I also feel kind of bleh afterwards – I think it’s just the empty calories/sugar. Logging it all, though. No matter what!
    Day 05β€”07/23 –159.2 Hard to focus at work today. Migraine did not help matters at all.

    Day 17β€”08/04 –157.0 That cheesecake was delicious. It was hard to keep it to one serving! I was very close to just saying β€œtoo delicious for just one slice” lol. It’s still in the fridge, though – so if I can hold it together for the rest of the day, maybe I can have another slice. *maybe*

I get migraines if there are sudden drops or rises - and being tired is one of the symptoms. I used to call my brain a barometer because gosh help us if we're in danger of a hurricane!

    Day 45β€”09/01 –156.0 No more work this long weekend! Had a relaxing day yesterday – cleaned the master bathroom, played some games, cooked dinner (pepper chicken, turned out great!). While the chicken wasn’t the healthiest flex (chicken was fried before it was tossed in stir fry sauce), it was delicious, and I held myself to one serving. So I’d call that a success.

    Just worried about you is all.
    My cousin when we were kids would have those drops. Orange juice seemed to be the quickest to reverse that...for her.
    Smarties or sugar packets also would have a quick uptake. Much faster than "food" which might take hours to provide that quick reversal.
    They have little glucose gel packets, you open them and squeeze them into your mouth. I know a guy who carries those around.

    I am scared when I hear of your drops.

    @dawnbgethealthy I've never heard of glucose gel packs. That sounds fascinating and would be easy to keep under most all circumstances. I will definitely look into it. They closed our only drug store (Rite Aid) in my itty bitty town about 6 months ago and now I have to travel to get to one (about an hour each way). For my daily meds I am using a mail-in pharmacy sponsored by my medical insurance. Since I am leaving on a trip tomorrow I think I may stop at a brick & mortar pharmacy in the city and see what they carry. I'm actually shocked that private medical insurance does not cover this for diabetics. I think I will go to my online mail order pharmacy and double-check this. If not, hopefully it's not too expensive. It's not like it's something I have to use on the daily. Thanks so much for the idea. Interestingly, the episodes were getting fewer and further apart as my weight was dropping last winter. Now, with weight increases it has actually happened a couple of times JUST THIS WEEK ALONE! That speaks volumes!
    Thanks for the gel pack info. I am definitely going to investigate. It may even be something Amazon carries.

    Thoughts at the beginning of this challenge:

    Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl, uphill, both ways. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I CAN make, no matter how big or small. Sadly, I gained a little over 6 pounds last round. I hope to turn all that back around this round. After all, here in Northern Michigan I wait a very long time each year to finally get to good weather and more outside activity. I really want to capitalize on the good weather in the summer months and increase activity and drop pounds. I’m failing miserably with this so far in 2024. Time to maximize the rest of summer and early fall with challenge #20 and make the magic happen! I am so very grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.



    Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    Day 51-09/07-189.0-(Trend weight 191.0) My meals were pre-planned and very good. My snacks were pre-planned but I added to them out of sheer boredom I think. It was unnecessary. I’m grateful that the meals saved me and I still saw a drop on the scale this morning. I’ve got to be more mindful today (tonight)! I would love to be back in the 170’s by Christmas (at the Very Least). Something to aspire to.

    Day 52-09/08-189.6-(Trend weight 190.9)Scale is a little bit up as I traveled yesterday with my son for some out-of-town shopping for his food supplies (autistic eating disorders and tactile food issues). Lunch was out. I ate less than half but we did have an ice cream later in the evening before coming home. Some of the ice cream shops have already closed for the season so we had to get it in! Well. I suppose β€œhad to” is a bit strong. Tomorrow I leave for a two day trip to University Hospital for my Mammogram and Oncology appts. It is the yearly check-up for the cancer breast and the mid-year check-up on the cancer-scare breast as they are following up some suspicious stuff on that opposite side. The last check on that was 6 months ago. Because it’s a 4 hour drive each way and the appointments this time are so early it will be an overnight trip for us. There will be restaurants both days and plenty of sitting. I know it’s going to do some damage but what goes up must come down so I will work diligently the rest of the week. I must admit, this small-town girl is looking forward to all that the big city has to offer. I’m really looking forward to getting away from this β€œconstruction zone” house too. Don’t forget ladies, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so you’ve got plenty of time to schedule your routine testing. I share because I care!

    Just worried about you is all.
    My cousin when we were kids would have those drops. Orange juice seemed to be the quickest to reverse that...for her.
    Smarties or sugar packets also would have a quick uptake. Much faster than "food" which might take hours to provide that quick reversal.
    They have little glucose gel packets, you open them and squeeze them into your mouth. I know a guy who carries those around.

    I am scared when I hear of your drops.

    @dawnbgethealthy I've never heard of glucose gel packs. That sounds fascinating and would be easy to keep under most all circumstances. I will definitely look into it. They closed our only drug store (Rite Aid) in my itty bitty town about 6 months ago and now I have to travel to get to one (about an hour each way). For my daily meds I am using a mail-in pharmacy sponsored by my medical insurance. Since I am leaving on a trip tomorrow I think I may stop at a brick & mortar pharmacy in the city and see what they carry. I'm actually shocked that private medical insurance does not cover this for diabetics. I think I will go to my online mail order pharmacy and double-check this. If not, hopefully it's not too expensive. It's not like it's something I have to use on the daily. Thanks so much for the idea. Interestingly, the episodes were getting fewer and further apart as my weight was dropping last winter. Now, with weight increases it has actually happened a couple of times JUST THIS WEEK ALONE! That speaks volumes!
    Thanks for the gel pack info. I am definitely going to investigate. It may even be something Amazon carries.

    Day 50β€”09/06 – 146.0 - I was at 130 on my 61st birthday. By now I should be at my healthy weight of 110-118 for a 5'2" person, the trajectory looked promising. My highest weight btw was 207, I had high blood pressure and the doc told me to lose weight, so I did. It is a struggle. I did eat some of those wonderful green beans for dinner last night with a small potato salad made out of my garden and an egg.
    Day 51β€”09/07β€” 146.2 - Saturday night after work is usually where I indulge a little in something that don't eat during the week. Not sure what that will be yet today. Beautiful and sunny here. I am going to get out into the yard for most of the day because I don't get ready for work until 3pm. Work on that tan : - )
    Day 52β€”09/08β€” 146.6 - Went out in the garden and made myself some Nachos with a couple of cocktails last night after work. Not sure yet what I will eat today, but coffee is tasting great.     Day 01--07/19 – 159.2 My company was affected by the Crowdstrike problem. I spent all day on hold with IT. My computer is finally working, but it’s after an entire wasted day. Note to self: next time there’s a system-wide failure, just leave the computer and do something fun instead. It wasn’t worth hanging around my work computer, looking at messages come in. I could have had a nice day of paint-by-numbers! Well, that’s my weekend.
    Day 02β€”07/20 – 158.6 Happy Weekend! I hope y’all are doing well. I’m so glad to have some time to relax and putter around the house. Also in charge of dinner for tonight, so will try to come up with something satisfying but healthy.
    Day 03β€”07/21 –159.6 mixed results for last night. I made a kung pao chicken noodle dish which turned out very good, but I also baked cookies which were not part of the plan. So four cookies later, I had nulled out any positivity from the dinner.
    Day 04β€”07/22 –159.9 COOKIES. Too many cookies! Stopped at four yesterday straight out of the oven. But cookie breakfast AND snack isn’t the way I want to go. I also feel kind of bleh afterwards – I think it’s just the empty calories/sugar. Logging it all, though. No matter what!

    Day 1 73.6 a big drop from my last reading on day 98, it's not total fat loss, I expect to gain as my body recovers

    Day 7 73.5 I want to lose at least a kilogram a month, that should be easy to achieve. So "it's all on" as they say. I will post when I have what I consider junk food. It's been 12 days since I had sugar. That's the longest in the last 5 1/2 years. I consider that an achievement. I had KFC yesterday because the mall I was at has no where to sit down and do stuff, I needed to email the receipt from the water payment and wasn't going home until it was done. At the moment, I'm a bit slower than one kilogram a month.

    Day 9 73.7 I have now lost weight for 42 consecutive months. That's an alternative way of saying "the_reflex is taking forever to reach goal weight, 42 months to lose 22 kg". But it shows that I haven't rebounded to any large extent. That's a hopeful sign for maintenance.
    I had sugar today, after 14 days. Sugary food and chocolate definitely changes my mood. Buzzy feeling. I hope to not have sugary food again for a while.

    Day 11 72.3 my weight has dropped quite a bit in the last 3 days but that's just because I stopped having salty food. I just checked my spreadsheet, guess what? 29th July 2014. 73.0 kg. I'm now the weight I was 10 years ago. I consider this a milestone. I had a Starbucks meal to celebrate.

    Day 14 75.8, still showing the effect of the pizza. But I'm not hungry right now, so I'm eating too much. I lost 2.7 kg in July, a lot of that is from getting influenza (not covid - I got tested) which went to my throat, stomach, lungs and inner ear. Anyway I need to eat less.

    Goal weight - 64 kg. I really want to aim for reaching goal weight by the end of the year. I don't know if I can do it, but it would be nice to achieve it. So I need to track my intake, starting today, first of the month. That's about 150 days of tracking and estimating food needed. It would be nice to have a long period of continuous tracking because when I reach goal weight, that's it, no more tracking. I can't exercise right now due to the temperature, but I'm moving soon so I'll be in a cooler environment.
