Wow I loved reading all the posts here. I hope everyone is still around, I can totally relate as well and am ready to get back to taking more conscious and consistent steps to losing the 15-20 lbs I’ve gained over the past few yrs also. I’ll start weighing and chiming in on Sundays too. Was 146.6 the other day at my dr appt. I’m 58 and 5’1 . The extra weight is causing other problems now so it’s (past) time to pay better attention to my choices.

    Loss: 2.8lbs

This week was weird. My weight kept going up and down all over the place. I did not think i would wake up this morning with a loss at all. Bodys are strange.

Just stuck to my plan and kept myself busy with my crafts. Lifes been busy so that helps. Hope everyone else had a good week.

That is surprising because I didn’t pay attention to my eating and had some emotional eating evenings. I’m really struggling with sleep lately. Not sure if it’s stress or perimenopause or both.

I’ll be starting the 3rd week of teaching this school year (my 17th year) and it’s hitting different. I’m absolutely exhausted at the end of each day. Also fighting off a cold now. So when I add in more intentional exercise it will have to be early in the morning. I’ve done it before so I know I can do it again, but the lack of sleep is rough. Going to reach out to my doctor again for suggestions.

I know I can feel better. I’m just in a rough patch. This coming week I will focus on sleep, 2 water bottles a day (64-80 oz), and tracking my food again (with an emphasis on veggies).

Checking in today as forgot to post yesterday.

    Weight last week: 162
    Weight yesterday: 156

I’m mostly focusing on diet right now and not trying to over do it by focusing on both exercise and diet at the same time which usually causes me to crash and burn.

Not eating sweets or bread right now. Limiting drinking alcohol. Not snacking. I think it’s ok to do these things every once in awhile and in moderation but as a person who cannot have “just one” of anything - chips, a bite of ice cream, a beer - abstinence is the best policy for me right now. It is annoying at times but if I keep myself busy it’s not that hard. I have also several times found that telling myself “no” out loud (yes really) as a means of disrupting an automatic bingeing behavior really works.

I am feeling better, mentally, this week. A lot more to go but hopeful. Like I said previously, I want to achieve sustainable change. Not a quick fix. So I’m working toward find a healthy eating pattern that works for me physically, metabolically, and emotionally.

Hope everyone is having a good week. ❤️

I turned 70 in May and for the last 30 years, I have gained and lost the same 15 lbs. I quit smoking at 40 and from then on it's been a struggle. I'm in good shape and live on a small farm, so I'm pretty active, but I'm disgusted with myself for having such little will power. It's night time that is hard for me. Even if I'm not hungry I have a compulsion to snack. I also have a sweet tooth and at night is when I like to have a treat, and it's usually something baked. I'm 5'2" and weighed myself this morning, and was 151.9. I feel best around 137-140. Good luck everyone on your journey. It's nice to know we're not alone.

    Whoo hoo!!

Just doing the same thing. Just keepimg at it and working on my projects. Might decided to add in strength training soon. But our oldest dog and most beloved ( 12 1/2 weve had him since he was a puppy) is nearing the end. Hes on meds that are giving him a good quality of life currently But those could stop working at any time😢 so im having a tough time doing things that involve being away from.hjm.
We probably only have a week or two left.

Hope y'all had a good week.

142.2 down 1.2. This surprised me because this week was odd. But I’ll take it!

Luckily my job is very active but I know that adding in full body strength training will be really good for my body, especially in my late 40’s. So that’s my next goal.

I’m going grocery shopping today and I’m going to wash and prep my veggies ahead of time to make it easier.

I’d like to break 142 this coming week. My first big goal is to get back into the 130’s. I’ve been trying to do so for the last 2-3 years. I can and I will do it. I will learn new ways that work for my new body at this phase in my life.

Almost 3 weeks since my last post. Pools are closed but I I’ve been doing a 30 minute cardio and strength workout. Down 10 lbs in that time. I’ve also started something crazy 2 days ago. 100 pushups and 100 sit-ups a day for 30 days. Today is day 3 and I’m sooooooo sore in the tummy and the boobies. Hopefully by day 30 I’ll be able to do them both non stop. Lots of work for that to happen

I just keep bobbing around this spot. Have been for the last two years.

I can see why, just having a hard time making consistent changes.

My work as a teacher is utterly exhausting. It takes all of my energy. So I need to wake up to intentionally exercise before work or it won’t happen. I did it one day this week.

I also had some emotional eating when I wasn’t really hungry as a way to “get something for myself” after feeling so resentful about giving my all to my job and kids.

I’m working on both, just not there yet.

Gotta try something new to get a new result.

Just started back with Myfitnesspal after a hiatus.
I am 174 lbs. Goal is currently 160 for now.
I am logging my food and exercising so I am expecting steady progress. My most difficult time is the evenings (impulse control is low) and drinking enough water.

Hope its ok to post this here. This group keeps me accountable and is fun so I thought maybe some would like to look into it. I started the 5% challenge winter 2024 at 161 lbs.and just reached 152.9. I never reached the 5% during the 10 weeks but was able to stay motivated and accountable for the year.
Not taking anything away from this group which is great but just thought some might want to check out the 5% group.

2024 5% Fall Challenge Community Team! We Would Love to Have You Join Us!

Please join this challenge and have fun as we lose 5% of our starting weight, improve our health, and make new friends. Race to Fascinating Places for 8-weeks! Now you can write your own success story! Have a chat or post questions in the Airport Lounge Discussion. Your friends are welcome too. The challenge start date is October 12! Heidi, (hicim705) will be sharing some pre-challenge activities starting soon.

I have to give so much credit to.teachers. yall have it tough. My dad is an elementary teacher for 30+ years, my mom is a retired teacher and my little bro is a middle school teacher. That bug did not bite me. I can barely handle my own kiddo, who im homeschooling. He has special needs and goes to various therapies m-f about 30 hours total a week. My state has only days attended and not hours for his age group thankfully.

Hello everyone. Well….. day 8 of my 100 push up and sit up challenge. Definitely not taking as long and muscles don’t ache as much but still not close to either exercise straight through. I haven’t weighed myself but my pants and shirts are definitely looser. My wife tells me that my tummy is not sticking out like it was. Got to get into speed-o shape…… LOL….NOT

    Down 2.6lbs

I expect to have a gain after this. I did eat way under my calorie goals this weekend because of Helene. We were without power for almost 2 days. We had our generator going but cooking was limited to.an electric skillet, the grill and crockpot. Pretty much anything i eat needs to be cooked. So i did very minimal snacking. And only ate at meals. I didnt even track.to be honest. We were very lucky as our home and property were relatively undamaged. We lost a tree and a couple branches but cleanup was not difficult. So many lost everything and we are cery grateful.

141.6. Down 1.4. This is the lowest I’ve been in the last 10 weeks! My partner was here visiting which oddly enough helped me not emotional eat as much.

I also made sure to drink more water and pack more veggies for work. I even ran before work one day and then we went on a hike this weekend.

Usually my weight buoys back up after a successful week…self sabotage. But I’d like to keep getting stronger. This week my goal is to do add in another day of exercise before work.

143.0. Up 2 pounds. Not surprising. Poor choices and my period. Just frustrated.

But I know that if I can adjust some of my reactions to stress and difficult feelings it will help. So I’m going to try a new therapist Monday.

Even though I didn’t want to, I had the attitude of—Yes! I dropped weight. Now I can relax on it a bit. But that relaxing on it a bit went way too far. It’s my all or nothing thinking coming into play.

Onward I go. I will not give up. I just need some new tools and techniques.

142.0. Back down 1.8. Woke up and exercises twice this week before work. And focused on eating more veggies. It helped.

This coming week. I’m going to drink double the water each day (64-80 oz) and go for 4 days before work. 2 cardio, 2 weights.

This will be a push, but I’m ready for it.

The last 2 weeks have been a total loss for me . As in i have not done well. I haven't weighed but i know its up. Our 12 year old dog who weve had since he was 8 weeks old passed away. He had cancer and we knew it was coming but he declined so quickly at the end. We were emotional messes. So of course we got a puppy. I forgot how much work they were im getting back on track starting tomorrow. I will weigh in the morning and deal with the fall out.

Hello everyone, it has been extremely refreshing to read this thread. I've read many others but this one feels like where I should be.
A little back story. Today I turned 45. I am in the middle of a shoulder surgery recovery that is expected to take 4-6 months(4 tendon tears). I am 5'8" and weigh 210lbs. Former military. I'm still active in sports and have kiddos who play as well. Life is very busy.
Reflection. This was the number one motivating factor for me. Am I happy with who I am? Is this where I saw myself at 45? The answer was no, obviously. Then what do I need to do to get there? I had gained 40lbs since I got out out the military. 40lbs over the last 25 years. I know I may never see that person again but and that's ok. I was 20! When you're that age, and in that physical shape, coupled with training every single day, you can eat whatever your heart desires and nothing happens to your body. That's the joy of being young! However, time always moves forward and eventually everything catches up. So here I am.
A friend of mine who is a few years older than I, decided he wanted a change and became a compteting body builder. At 46! When we met, we were 26 and 28 years old playing semi-pro football. He was 6'1" and weighed around 240-250lbs. He now weighs in at 190lbs and competes in the men's physique division of body building. Again, he's 47 years old. Moral of this story is its NEVER too late for change. And through perseverance, dedication and motivation, you CAN! I know this is a long post and I apologize but also am grateful if you are still reading. Reflection of myself is what I needed for me to start breaking the habits I formed so long ago.
I started changing some of those habits 2 weeks ago. Started eating more protein with every meal, counting calories and exercising more(what I can do with one arm). Today I weighed in at 209. 1lb down, 39 to go. How ever long it takes, I WILL get there.

    CW: 209
    GW: 170-175
    Thank you for reading.
