Newsfeed

I’ve been on MFP for over 13 years. I have a handful of friends that’s have been with me here since the beginning. I don’t post often but I do occasionally check the newsfeed.

I’m a dinosaur. An old dog. I don’t like new tricks.

Seriously, we no longer have a newsfeed? Ugh.

Me too! Agree 1,000%. This feels like a less friendly site without the newsfeed. It's much more difficult to support friends :(

Same. It's just a logging app now, that happens to have a forum site attached to it. It's sad.

@melgillis @SuzyQ_Canada @KareninCanada Have you considered joining a group? I found the challenges pages on MFP just after I started on MFP and have joined a few groups that have been really helpful in my weight loss journey. It's been a year and a half, but I have lost over 80 pounds and am still as motivated as when I started.

Here are a few that I love.

The biggest loser challenge - (registering now for the next round) which starts Aug 28.

If you are a Harry Potter Fan - the Hogwarts challenge is also registering for the next term which start August 23.

Just an daily accountability/support group. A new group every month, but you can jump in anytime.

The problem with groups is that they are difficult to navigate to, and we can’t control who is in them. Newsfeeds were perfect because only our friends could see what we posted. There was no reason to remove the newsfeed. Only reason I can think of is that they are planning to add it back on the premium plan so we have to pay for it.

I contacted them about the removal and they said they ‘understand’ my disappointment and again offered groups or private messaging to connect, but gave no reason for the removal.

The majority of my friends are leaving the app

DebbieLyn63, I totally agree. Navigating the groups is terrible! When I came back I was SO disappointed the newsgroups were gone... having "friends" is a waste of time.

"Newsfeeds were perfect because only our friends could see what we posted."

That's the thing they missed recognizing the importance of. :/ My active friend list is 1/3 the size it was in May, and still shrinking.

Hey. I’ve recently come back to MFP after a year and I too was gutted to find no newsfeed. I had actually gained a lot from being able to interact with my friends on here and it kept me accountable. I haven’t got a clue what I’m doing over on this community stuff. It’s all so complicated. It seems I can no longer simply just check in with friends. Friends that I’d built up over the years. MFP had always been more than a calorie counter to me, it seems such a shame! Being able to log in and see what my friends were doing, congratulating them on calorie burns and to being congratulated back was all part of the MFP journey. I have a subscription. I’ve paid it for 4years and now it feels I’m getting less for my money. You can’t access community in the app either, which just makes everything more complicated… to have to dig through threads in order to check in with friends! I felt the newsfeed definitely gave a more personalised experience. It feels like I’ve come back losing a whole network of support . So annoying!
