:flowerforyou: Good Morning!!! :flowerforyou:

I have to say I was overwhelmed and very excited for each of you wanting to be a part of this challenge and the enthusiasm everyone brings to it!!! :drinker:

Yesterday was a rest day for me, but today I'm back at the Y for a training session and some cardio.

What does everyone else have planned today in efforts to reach your goal???

Blessings to all of you for a great day!!! :flowerforyou:

    Good morning Theresa! :flowerforyou:

My efforts today will include resisting the temptation to be BAD! :noway: I really just "want" a breakfast sandwich with sausage and pizza for lunch...BUT...after St. Patty's Day, I should really behave myself.

Just a little stressed (Sister-in-law is in the hospital due to complications with her pregnancy. She's in active labor right now at 7.5 months...so there are a few things to be worried about) and I haven't been sleeping as much as I should. I'm a needy sleeper and to be at my max potential of alertness and energy, I need at the VERY least 7.5hours a night. Yeah...HASN'T been happening - lucky to get 6 hours.

ANYWAY - I had a great lower body workout last night. Tonight, I think I'm gonna try the Biggest Loser POWER SCULPT DVD I bought a few weeks ago. I haven't opened it yet, but I think I'm need of some variety in my workouts. I love getting on the elliptical - and I still sweat like crazy - but I feel like I might need to change it all up to trick my body. I have a feeling it's falling into a habit! :grumble: And we all know that's not good!

Any thoughts on Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred? I've seen LOTS of posts and groups about it on here...sounds killer, but I just don't know if it'll work for me. I feel like since I'm paying for my gym membership, I'll get a better workout there. WHO KNOWS! :ohwell:

Alrighty, sorry to be long winded....:blushing: Hope everyone is having a nice Thursday morning. It's ALMOST FRIDAY!! :flowerforyou: :drinker:

I didn't really do so great yesterday, and I'm ashamed of myself considering I lost those 3 lbs. I guess I didn't do horribly, just not great. I had my Turkey Sausage Egg White Flatbread for breakfast (280 cals), a WW fat-free yogurt with granola for my mid-morning snack (120 cals), a salad from Subway for lunch (I over-estimate, going by their to have been about 200 cals with turkey and fat-free Red Wine Vinegrette), then a Special K bar (90 cals) for my afternoon snack. So far, so good, right?....then I went home. That's when things got bad. My boyfriend was eating chips and dip (brat! :grumble: ) so I had about 4 chips w/ a very little bit of dip. He wanted Italian sausage for dinner, so I cooked up some links and yes, I had one myself. THe sausage itself was 290 calories, then add a roll (120 cals), then the oven-baked french fries (I think they were 140 cals). Right there I am up to 1240, and that's not including the chips and dip, OR.....the 3 "little hugs" juices I had.

Normally I would care too much about eating nearly 1600 calories but I took the day off yesterday because I had some running around to do on my lunch (that is when I do my cardio). So, I guess I'll just have do double-time today!!

xtina - sometimes it does the body good to be higher one day - that could have been much worse you showed some great will power limiting the chips and I LOVE sausage and don't know if I would have stopped on one.

T - I didn't get to workout - ended up with a rest day - our best friends mom passed away and we went to their house to show some love and support - I'll exercise today. Looks like it will be BL Cardio 1 and BL Scuplt 1 - I'd love to do more but I don't think I'll have time.

opera - I love the 30 day shred - it's a great workout in short time.

    Here's to a great healthy Thursday!:drinker:

xtina...ditto to what chrissy said! Have a great day today!

chrissy...Sorry to hear about your friend's mom! Have a great day:flowerforyou:

Still fighting this "bug" in our house and I haven't worked out since Sunday, but I know that physically it just isn't a good idea. Thankfully, my appetite isn't much and I have been okay on my calories. DH works today and then has his scheduled 7 days off...looking forward to some family time and getting some one on one time w/ each of the kiddos while he is off. Love when he is home, because I can get is some extra workouts as well:wink:

    Have a great day all!

Opera_Bound~I did the 30 day shred once. It totally kicked my butt! Worth the money.

xtina11179~WTG on limiting your self. I don't think I could have the self control on only eating 4 chips. Keep us posted on your sister. I hope things go well for here. My best friends sister had both of her kids at 7.5 months and they are now 5 and 6 and full of life and spunk.

chrissyh~ I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Theresa35~ The last 2 days I have had a good 1.5 hour workout at the gym. Thursday and Friday are normally a quiter day for me as I am not able to get to the gym. It's no longer supposed to rain here today so I think I am going to go for a walk tonight. It'll be a slower shorter walk than I would like but it is really nice to bring my son with.

Good luck everyone with your personal challenges.

Yesterday was okay for me. I was right on track w/ cals until i left work at 5 PM. I went for a 60 min 4 mph walk w/ my dog (368 cal), but then went ut to eat w/ my family! yikes! i don't think i necessarily went over on calories, but probably could have made better nutritional choices!!

anyone else find it hard to stay on track in the evenings? i'm fine eating like 250 cals every 3 hours during the day (9 AM, 12 PM, 3PM...) but in the evening i just want to eat, eat, eat! anyone have any tricks or tips?

happy thursday- thinking of all of you!:flowerforyou:

:smooched: :blushing:  Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for my family! I really appreciate that. No more news yet...just playing the waiting game! And yes, she's 30 weeks and the baby seems to be doing fine so far - strong heart rate and already starting to use her lungs!

I'm currently munching on one of those 100 cal bags of kettle corn popcorn to deter me from going downstairs to the cafe! I think it's more of an emotional thing so I'm trying to be strong!

I'm looking forward to getting these infamous workout DVDs....in HS I lost about 40lbs just doing Tae Bo a few days a week. I think I may start using those sort of things as my cardio as opposed to JUST the elliptical.

Question: So I recently purchased a "HRM" watch. I haven't quite figured out how to make it show my actual HR but it does calculate my calories depending on my weight and level of activity I set it at. So there's my question - If I'm doing a workout video at home (such as BL, Tae Bo, or Shred), what level should I set it at? My watch is based on 'mets' I think - so like 2.5 for Walking Slow up to 12.5 for Running Fast. Any thoughts or Ideas would be helpful! (Usually when I do my cardio at the gym, I set it between 9.0-11.0 because on the machines I get up to 12-15 mets depending on my level of intensity, but when I come out of one I may drop down to 9.0.) :drinker: Thanks for any help!

Depending on what I need to get done in the evenings - I'll do some of the following:
-GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! If I'm just hanging out at the house, I know i'll snack out of boredom...wasting valuable calories on food I don't even need. So, I'll end up meeting a friend at Barnes and Noble, Read a book outside, go play with the dogs, or maybe just go shopping for a bit.
-Take a nap: ahhh, I  sleep!
-Go to the Gym! I find that I'm not as hungry after a great workout.

That's about all I've got...but yes, I'm in the SAME boat as you. I love to eat eat eat at night. :blushing:

Theresa & Chrissy...Yesterday ended up being a rest day for me also. It was nice to take some sort of break but will get back on it today!

Opera Bound...I am sorry about your sister in law. I will be praying for her and the baby. Hopefully she is in great hands and they will be able to stop the labor! I know about though things lately, but past 2 weeks have been filled with them!

Yesterday I wasn't terrable, but didn't do the greatest with my food choices. Today is a new day, i'm going to get my exercise in and drink up my water (which i have been really good at lately!) Have a great day everyone. Fun to see some new faces!

Yesterday wasn't too bad considering it's my day off, we have CCD classes until about 8:30 at night so Wednesday's are a long day! But I'm proud to say I stayed in my 1500 cals!!! Super excited first time I haven't gone a bit over on a Wednesday. All the other days are easy because I always earn exercise cals!

Your sis in law will be in my prayers, my daughter was born at 30 weeks, that was 10 years ago in Dec, and you NEVER guess she was a preme! I'm sure everything will be fine!

I didn't make it to the gym yesterday, actually went to bed at 8:00, but I think the rest was very much needed. I did manage to stay within my calories though, so that was good. I plan to clean the house tonight, before we leave to go out of town tomorrow. That will be more beneficial than going to the gym, as I can burn calories and be productive at home!

I do have a question for you guys though. My first month I was doing great, I lost 10 lbs. But my last 2-3 weeks I have totaly lost my motivation. I don't want to work out, and I am not being nearly as careful with the food. I would have thought that my 10 lbs loss would have encouraged me more, but it didn't. Did anyone else experience anything like this?

Oh for sure it is difficult to stay on track in the evenings. I do GREAT durning the day up until about 6 or 7, them I struggle with what to eat for dinner/what my family is eating. A tip: I just cut my self off about 8. Set a time where you know you can't eat anything else, and drink some water instead.

Tahmed - Same thing happened to me. I started my journey in October 2008 but by mid November I had lost about 8lbs and completely lost my motivation as well. I blamed it on being out of town and the holidays that were soon to come. I'd have a really good week of like a 3# loss, then gain it back the next two weeks.

My best motivation and but kicker was creating habits.
-If you hate working out - change it up. Take a class, go swimming, find a workout buddy, try something new you never thought you could do.
-I also created a spreadsheet for myself (but i'm really OCD...so this is just my way of tracking things) that lists the date each Friday, Goal Weight (a 1.5# loss from the previous week), Actual Weight for that week, and then TOTAL weight lost. It's a bit discouraging at times if I really fall off and get way behind my goals, but then, I just re-evaluate and figure it out again. There's nothing you can do about the past but move forward.
-I had to sit and think about what I'll gain from losing the weight and becoming healthy. I look at my parents and see they struggle with their weight and I don't want to have some of the health problems that they do when I get older. I had to make the decision to do it for me - not for anyone else. Some may call it being selfish - but I just know that its what is in my BEST interest. You deserve to be excited about changing your life! :flowerforyou: 10lbs is a big acheivement!:drinker:

I also used to be really embarassed to tell people I was dieting or what not because I felt like they'd judge me and make fun of the fact that I am so over weight. But now I kind of feel like - WHO CARES!? It's my body and my choice - I may be overweight now, but oneday, I wont be. I'll be healthy and fit and I can't continue to feel guilty for decisions I've made in the best. I had to step up and realize if I wanted a change that I was the one who had to do it. :blushing:

I hope that helped a little - maybe not. But you're not the only one out there. We all have our plateaus and moments of being unmotivated. It feels so great when you see the scale move downward...keep pushing for THAT moment! :flowerforyou: Best of luck to you!

Highly recommended if any of you like dancing and singing....and watching a cute guy while you're doing it!!

That's great! Sounds like she's a lil fighter!

I'm really going to try and do some serious exercise today, I haven't done a proper workout in a while and my fitness levels are pretty horrendous! Only problem is I have a huge university assignment due for tomorrow so I don't know when I'll find the time :( At least I've been eating healthily though, breakfast was a bowl of porridge and lunch was a chicken salad (I live in the UK btw). Also I've been trying to drink my eight glasses of water but it leaves me constantly needing the toilet! That's not going to last forever is it?!
