Phone vs web browser food logging shortlist

To get a shortlist on your phone of foods you are tracking, is it better to intially record foods on your phone, or will browser entered entries appear as well?

What are the pros and cons of tracking on your phone vs your computer web browser? my niece told me just to use my phone. I was originally using both. (Previous user)

I use both. Each has advantages and limitations.

For a new food I am looking for, sometimes it's easier to find with the web. For foods that I've eaten recently and want to log again, it's almost always easier to use the app (iOS). If I didn't just eat it very recently, I have to scroll through many pages if I use the web.

Copying a meal from yesterday is also easier, I think, on the app.

I think I remember reading about a bug a year or three ago where folks who entered a food on one didn't see them in recent entries on the other. I imagine they fixed that. Or maybe it was just that the number of calories was, oddly, different. The database is the same.

I can't scan a barcode on the web. There's some other features on the app that aren't on the web.

Use both, then if you like one better, use that more often!

You may need to hit sync in the app if you've logged something recently and it isn't showing up on the other platform.

I agree with mtaratoot that some things are easier on one platform or the other -- I think finding database entries for foods that aren't in my recent list and logging recipes are easier on the web. I also find copying meals from one day to another easier on the website.

Experiment and see what works for you.
