On the 8th Day, God Created... Tacos

My beautiful Mexican wife prepared some killer carne asada tacos this afternoon. Tasty corn tortillas made at the local tortilleria. Salsa verde with some SPICY habañero chiles thrown in. Grilled onions and bell pepper.

Other favorites tacos of mine include carnitas, barbacoa (especially Chihuahua style) and tripitas (pork intestines cooked to crispiness).

O-ra-le.

* I'm not singing the praises of the nutritional value of tacos -- but rather their tastiness.

** I expect some entertaining responses, folks.

*** Yes, taco chat is back.

    mmmmmmmmtacos.

The taco place in the town where I went to school had about a billion flavors of hot sauce. I would bring them all over to my table and try a different one on each bite.

    Mexican food is the best.

Personally, I'd rather eat my own toenails!

    Hmm...calorie content of that?

    I love Becky's taco....

Oh sorry, oops, lengua tacos. Off King Taco truck on Ceasar Chavez Blvd in East LA. Really good taco.

I make really good tacos too. And I have a secret you should try. Spray both sides with PAM and heat them on the outdoor grill or a cast iron skillet. They get that yummy crispiness without all the full on oil/lard/fat.

And there was a crockpot chicken recipe for filling that was floating around that really works good! I also used that recipe to make Venison taco filling and it was awesome. Search for it!

And cabbage instead of lettuce, and feta cheese. Yummmmmm....

The carne asada was nice and lean, and along with the veg, was cooked in a light spraying of olive oil. only really naughty part was the tortilla. Do I care, though? Nope. Moderation, baby.

I just celebrated my GRE test taking success with 2 tacos al pastor at our neighborhood taqueria. My bf smuggled in our habanero hot sauce. We could not live without Mexican food. It's a major staple of our diet.

I like to share my tacos. Every time I make tacos, whether they be fish, pork-filled, or spicy, I can't wait for my husband to come home. He walks in the door and I say "come and get em!"

I will pretty much eat anything that used to have a face... Especially if it's wrapped in a soft taco and smothered in sour cream.

    I love fish tacos!

I make a veggie "taco." Sorry probably ruining the taco's good name but calling it that, but it's tasty and low cal! I saute some mushrooms, onions, and zuchini together and then grill up my corn tortillas. Top the tortillas with veggies, a sprinkle of shredded cheese, and some Chollula or Tapatio, and it's delicious!
