Welcome back @Avidkeo . We missed you, but with all you accomplished can see why you didn't have time to deal with social media! Congrats on the scientific papers and Master's Degree. I'm sure your trip was amazing! We will support you in whatever way we can/you need! You've done it before. You can do it again.
Great spontaneous HM distance today @tarun_yadavA ! Great pace too. That dessert looks yummy.3 -
Hi everyone!
Yesterday I got in 7.5km to start November. I ran the first 4 with the kids on their bikes/scooters. They were pretty fast, so I had to run faster than my usual pace to keep up. It was nice though chatting with them and all getting some exercise. Today I’ve been putting off my run doing yard work, but I am heading off now .6 -
Hi all, new here, I am trying to run more and though this would be a good group to stay accountable and share my progress. I am not quite sure what my goal should be for the month, I did manage 80km for October so will aim for the same. I am still quite a slow runner with a busy life so finding the time to run is sometimes difficult, especially now with the evenings getting dark and the weather not always the best.
2nd Nov 5.06 km in 35:36 min (pace 7:02/km) Saturday parkrun
3rd Nov 5.02 km 36:05 min (pace 7:11/km) usual Sunday run/jog with some of the mums from my daughter's team when the kids are busy training, give us a chance to exercise and catch up
10.08 km done, 69.92 to go 🏃♀️8 -
Welcome @Emilienewme!! This is a great and very supportive group. You’re in the right place!4

Thanks guys! It's great to be back.
So part of my issues the last couple of years has been several injuries. Between my calf from a few years ago, I've also sprained my upper back twice and then did my lower back good and proper about 3 months ago.
So I have bought a reformer and am adding pilates to my routine.
This morning was a pilates session and anyone who says pilates looks easy has never done it! I'm sore!
As for my running goal. I just want to get back to being able to run 5k again. I can do 4... So I think i should be able to do 5 by the end of the month!9 -
02.11 5.0km 39min 7:48/km - slow-ish
03.11 5.1km 39min 7:43/km - 4x3min fast
10.07km
That was yet another nice run. Ok, I went a bit too fast in the end. My running programme wanted me to run 4x4 minutes fast but my stamina just isn't there yet. Still managed 4x3 minutes. Love the cool, dry weather.7 -
Welcome @Emilienewme and welcome back @Avidkeo!!
Pilates is so hard @Avidkeo! I started doing lagree last year and it's so much harder than it looks.

Easy miles this morning. Super muggy, basically summer again. It's been raining off and on all afternoon again. We needed the rain but I'm ready for the cooler weather to come back.8 -

Morning, all did my usual 8k loop this morning with a couple of pauses to stretch my back. I fear my fitness has dropped a little and I was slow but otherwise good. I’m heading off to see the physio (who’s a runner) this morning so it will be interesting to see what she has to say.
Welcome back @Avidkeo, i’ve been keeping an eye on you on Strava over the last couple of years and while your running may not be what it was, you’ve been getting out there, so be pleased with yourself for that. Congrats on all you’ve achieved this year, enjoy the coming year off, and I hope your PhD goes well.7 -
Hi everyone!
I did get my run in today and was super proud that it happened after putting it off all morning. It was a beautiful fall day and some parts of my run were covered in a thick bed of leaves. I ran 8km. My watch died as soon as I hit the 8km mark and strangely Strava’s data says 8, while Garmin only gave me 7.8km .
Hoping being more consistent this week with running will make things easier.
15.5/200km for November.7 -
November Goal: 100 miles
11/1: 8.20 miles
11/3: 5.02 miles
13.22/100 miles completed for November
The taper for Saturday's race has officially begun. I actually started running some shorter runs last week, but today I ran 5 miles instead of my usual Sunday 10 or so mile run. When you factor in daylight savings time ending this day has just felt weird. The run was ok. It was cloudy and kind of warm at 75°F and a bit humid. My little friend joined me at the cemetery and since I didn't run as far as usual she followed me home. She's pretty good about going back home and doesn't actually live very far from me. But if I didn't know who she belonged to I would sure be tempted to keep her.
@avidkeo It's so good to see you back, and welcome to all the new members of the group!
@contrarymarymary Glad the back is feeling better.
@martaindale I feel like summer will never really leave.

So I got some excellent news from my physio. She says, if it doesn’t hurt to run, then run! Yay. She says if I hadn’t had the imaging done then I wouldn’t actually know I had osteoarthritis in my back so I’d be running anyway. I just have to ease back into things gently to build up to where I was six weeks ago and she suggests cutting my runs down to three or four times a week instead of five and of course, doing more strength work. Perhaps more importantly, I need to stop doing the five or six hours in the garden straight, which is causing the pain.7

That's great @Laurz9191 . Love that the kids were getting exercise with you! You are a great example to them. Getting out in the afternoon is sometimes really hard.
Welcome @Emilienewme . This is a great group with people at all different levels of running abilities. I love that you and other moms run and talk while the kids are practicing! Where are you from?
@Avidkeo Pilates uses so many different muscles, I'm not surprised that you are sore. I think you have a very sensible goal.
Nice run @yirara ! Look at that improvement in pace from yesterday!
@ContraryMaryMary I hope the physio has good news for you.
Great job on the taper run @kgirlhart . You're little friend is so cute. I can see how you would be tempted to keep her if she was a stray.
1 Nov - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 2.40 miles - treadmill - Gym 39m16s
2 Nov - Walked 1.03 miles - Ran 9.97 miles - driveway and rural road
3 Nov - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
15.40/80 mile goal
Did a treadmill walk to keep the streak going - after church and lunch, but before cantata practice.

@ContraryMaryMary aww it's so cool having strava. I rarely look at it these days but may look again now I'm getting back to basics lol. Yay for clearance to run, that's brilliant. I'm impressed you get so much time in your garden! It must be looking amazing, I remember when you were about to move it.
@quilteryoyo hey! Oh I can't believe how bad my abs are. I'm going to add an additional goal - be able to sit from laying down using my abs bahahaha. That was an exercise today and I had to grab my legs to get up. Wonder if a month will be enough time to train that movement lol6 -
Daylight savings time always feels strange to me. Here I am up an hour early because well - can't sleep and body says its time so...... I am currently at 12 out of 100 for the month altho yesterday i took off and just did 3 walks during the day. I think I am still stiff and sore from tennis on Thursday. sigh. But also I have tried to wean off any pain meds the past week as those also tend to make me feel blue for some reason.
We were supposed to get a LOT of rain all week and so far not but some drizzle every now and then. And it's warm. My truck brake light came on yesterday when I took it for a spin so now I need to get that to the shop. I don't think the brakes are worn but that there is low fluid or a leak somewhere because the pedal is way too squishy. (technical term). Hopefully my shop will repair it as they don't like to work on my ancient truck anymore (1999 chevy).
Welcome back @Avidkeo and others. I am on Strava also so ok to send a friend add to me there if you want Mz Buzz...
Still wish we would hear from some of our other MIA folks.....8 -

Hahaha @Avidkeo . You have to start from somewhere. I think we will be able to celebrate that victory with you before Dec 1!
@SummerSkier I'm not a fan of the time change either. That, and the days getting shorter is just a bit much for the mind to handle. I hope you and all the other TX friends stay safe today - heard on the news where tornadoes are possible in Austin. I, too, miss our MIA friends! Come back.....
Nice run this morning @tarun_yadavA !

@SummerSkier 1999 - it's officially a classic car! Which is weird to me that a car from the 90's is a classic. I think that means I'm getting old since the 90's feel like 15 years ago instead of 25.7

I opted for the treadmill this morning. It was gross and hot again and I just didn't want to do it. My Garmin plan has pace targets even for easy runs and I wasn't going to be able to maintain it in these conditions. So, I took a run with my favorite trainer in a dry rainforest in Costa Rica.
We have gotten a decent bit of rain the last few days, much needed. My plants look happier. Off to do a bit of work before taking myself and my kid to the eye doctor. Seems they might need glasses and I need an updated prescription so I can get some prescription sunglasses for driving.7 -

11/3 13.51 miles
11/4 14.4 miles, 2380 days on the run

Nice job on your Costa Rica run @martaindale ! Glad you got some much needed rain too.
Nice running and picture @AlphaHowls .
1 Nov - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 2.40 miles - treadmill - Gym 39m16s
2 Nov - Walked 1.03 miles - Ran 9.97 miles - driveway and rural road
3 Nov - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
4 Nov - Walked 0.00 miles - Ran 1.75 miles - cemetery - Gym 44m51s
17.15/80 mile goal
I went to the gym this morning. Did sit squats with a bar for the first time today. Jeremy (the owner) says I'll probably be sore tomorrow. We shall see.
I ran from the gym to the nearby cemetery and around it. I had an appointment with my insurance agent at 10:30, so needed to be done by 10:10. I got back to the car at 10:09. I'd say that's pretty good timing. I was pleased with my pace...I did push it a little, but not really a lot. Pace was 11:55 min/mile. Avg HR was 130 with a max of 148 bpm.7 -
Morning.
"fast" 4k for me this morning. Felt really good this morning, and enjoyed being out early.
I'm doing alternate days pilates and running. So rest day for my abs haha8 -
02.11 5.0km 39min 7:48/km - slow-ish
03.11 5.1km 39min 7:43/km - 4x3min fast
04.11 4.1km 31min 7:30/km - 15x 20sec speed bursts
14.15km
My stamina is slowly getting better. My 2km warmup went super well and was fast (for me). Then did 15 short speed bursts, which killed me 🤣8 -
Nov 2 – 11.01 miles
Nov 3 – 2.03 miles
Total 13.04 miles/Goal 100 miles
Great running and other movement everyone! Today is strength training day for me but I did get outside for a nice Fall walk at lunch.
Loved the o’possum v. possum information at the end of last month’s thread!
Welcome @Miss_Brenda7, @capewrathultra, @SarahsLog2022 and @Emilienewme!
@tarun_yadavA – Thanks for the Rasmalai information. It looks and sounds yummy!
Glad you have a diagnosis for your back pain @ContraryMaryMary and sounds like excellent advice from your physio. It’s bittersweet that your gardening caused the flare-up because your roses are so beautiful!
Good to see you @daria0919 and glad your work is accommodating you. I know it’s got to be frustrating for you and I hope the pain and swelling get less each day.
Welcome back @Avidkeo! I’ve been seeing you on Strava and am so glad you have joined us back here. You have been a busy bee. Congratulations on all your accomplishments!
@Laurz9191 – Sometimes my Garmin information matches my Strava and some times it doesn’t.
I think your new friend likes running with you @kgirlhart!
