@Michieb125- good for you in hitting the gym more. I am trying to decide if maybe joining the gym for the winter might help me get more motivated. I have a good set up at home but feeling a bit unmotivated and lacking focus lately . Maybe the act of driving to a gym and paying for a membership might give me that motivation . I am not a gym class kinda person but maybe a circuit training class might be helpful. Something to think about.
Last winter I joined the "fancy" gym which is the only one that has a lap pool and really enjoyed swimming for three months since it was the only exercise I could do at the time with the knee injury before surgery. But it's pricey and with some other big expenses on the budget, I am not sure I can justify it. I do get a discount through my work at a different gym but no pool.
The neck thing kept me from doing any workout today. I am a little concerned about it , have never experienced anything like this. My hubby thinks my neck is "out" and I need to go to a chiropractor but that terrifies me.Its not nerve pain or anything. Any movement that requires me to put my head down , bend over or any looking down in any way gives me the sensation of pressure and pain in my head. Weird for sure . I will give it the weekend I guess and if nothing is better I might have to go in and see someone.

139. Still too early to say if Iβm in a deficit. Will give it till the end of the month. (Iβm not counting calories, relying on hunger cues instead . A different approach for me.)3

I wish I could sleep in every day. When I get a solid 8 hours, the scale is good to me. I haven't slept much at all this week, so I have to be grateful that I saw progress.

Thanks for the encouraging words, @HappyDonkey75, and congrats on your continued progress. I'll take maintaining any day vs. numbers going up. It might go up slightly today. I did a lot of bargaining with myself this week that I can go to the bakery today if I didn't blow it this week. I am also only limited to two cookies from the bakery today. Two cookies, Manifesting -- TWO!
Ok, I typed that enough times that I started wondering thinking "two" is a really weird spelling. π€£

@dannytrees1 I'm glad you're letting yourself have a few splurges. I also know your dedication here, and know you can meet that November goal.
@capewrathultra I've noticed that sometimes the day after the splurge will be ok, and then the day after that, THEN the higher number shows up. So yes, it can take a few days to reset after one bad day. But you've got this.
We're allowed to splurge occasionally. There's going to be birthdays, or Thanksgiving, or an event -- the point of what we're all doing here isn't to punish us or shame us into not having a great meal or extra cake or any cake once in a while; it's to show us how to do things in moderation, and not splurge and
eat out and have the cake every day.

@ManifestingToday Thanks! I tend to have a big drop the day after a big gain. Same with today, but the big gain was a bit bigger than the big drop! LOL I'm back on it. I should hit a new low for 2024 by tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll be able to drop 2 lbs in 2 days to meet my 10-day goal. It's very possible, though...3 -

Mine is about staying healthy at my age now lol. It is important for me to reduce morbidity risk factors!
I have labs and a physical at the end of January which is helping to get me more focused.

@ManifestingToday Iβll post a bit more at the end of the month. I need to give it a few weeks because Iβm perimenopausal and my cycle is every 2 weeks at the moment so I have a lot of hormonal water weight changes which will mask fat loss. If I am in a deficit itβs probably gonna result in a half pound a week overall. 137.4 today.2

I am glad to see I am not going the other way on the scale because I have been pretty inactive the last three days with this head/neck thing I have going on. I think I have something called Cervicogenic headache (CGH) - its chronic headache that originates in the neck and radiates to the head or face. My symptoms fit it to a T.
Its caused by injuries, arthritis, a slipped disk, or other conditions that affect the cervical spine. It can also be caused by irritation of the cervical structures innervated by spinal nerves C1, C2, and C3. It causes severe pressure and pain in your head and face when you bend over, or look down. It feels like my head will literally explode .
I think I did it to myself . My last workout I went up in weight and probably lost form on some of my upper body workouts (lat pull down, shoulder presses) . The next day I woke to the headache and sore neck. Its sure taking its time resolving but yesterday I bought one of those "neck correctors" you lay on and place under your neck and I woke today feeling like my symptoms are less.
I will call my doctor Monday and see if I should get some xrays just to make sure I don't have a more serious issue like a disc. Getting old is the pits.

@cupcakesandproteinshakes I too am having a pattern of cycles like that, but they're either 6 weeks apart, or very short breaks between cycles, and it messes with everything - hormones, intestinal function, water retention, sleep pattern, which all influence the number on the scale. So I fully understand, and it is extremely frustrating. Any number of factors make this extra difficult at this stage. Hang in there.

I bought the stuff for making chia breakfast puddings this week. I saw a difference when I was eating those every day. So Iβm going to get back to eating those.
@cakesandproteinshakes and @ManifestingToday count me in too! They donβt talk about the whole MORE periods. And what that does to the body. Which is what has started this change in diet and exercise for me. Iβve gotten to the point where Iβm notβ¦ me. Iβve always been Lucky enough to feel comfortable in my own skin. And lately I just havenβt been. Things need to change.
I HATE the gym. But Iβm going to commit this week. Monday Wednesday and Friday. Just 30 minutes. Doing something. Treadmill. Elliptical.. stair machine. Anything. Hopefully Iβll feel more comfortable in there if I keep going.

@Emkaygirl1 i lift weights in the gym. Iβm doing a 4 day an week upper/lower programme. I can give you links to the website I use if you are interested. Then I do a couple of aerobics classes. Outside gym Iβm pretty sedentary. I do like the gym; itβs a big part of my social life. I work from home and am pretty introvert generally. Getting out to the gym means I engage with the world most days.3

@Emkaygirl1 the training programmes I use are paid ones at barbellmedicine.com. They do have a free programme for folks new to
Resistance training. Called the beginners prescription. If you type that into their website itβll come up. Iβm assuming you would be new to lifting. Otherwise, you could try Mike Matthewβs book Thinner Leaner Stronger. I got this from the public library. He has 3 4 and 5 day beginners programmes.4 -

Weighed in today. Up half a pound. It's likely all the salt I ate yesterday at a family gathering, but still a little frustrating after what felt like a good week nutritionally.
Goals this week (building on last week)
- Fruit or veg with every meal
- 64 oz water per day
- Some kind of workout 2x (target Weds/ Sat)3 -
This is back on track Monday for me!
Was a bit laxed with mindful nutrition this weekend and the scale is up. This feels like my monthly goal is out of reach but thatβs just frustration talking.
Goal this week is to eat no more than my calorie goal of 1200 per day. Means more vegetables and protein and better planning.
Also going to do 3 gym classes again this week/Barre, Zumba and a weight lifting circuit class.
Walked 40 minutes this afternoon.
