We got a new induction stove delivered today. We were able to sell our electric stove to my sister in law. That one was only about 2-3 years old. Kirby got his dream stove. He found it cheaper at Costco than Best Buy. Our electric stove (the delivery guy said). We had the wrong kind of plug in, it was meant for a dryer so we couldn’t plug in the new stove. After they left Kirby went to the hardware store and bought the right kind of plug in and installed it! There will be a learning curve on how to use this stove.
Kirby also scheduled an Alaska cruise for my friend and I to go next year. Said he wanted to do this for me. She won’t pay anything, it’s a gift. We will be going for a week. It will be on a different cruise ship (holland America) that I haven’t been on. She’s the friend that I went to go visit in Washington.
Kirby has decided no more long distance running for him, he’s done. He doesn’t want to risk falling, now that he’s older. I told him he can either run the 10k, 5k or volunteer. For that matter, he can walk with of those or volunteer. I still plan on running the 1/2 marathon til I’m 69 so I will have 4 more years to go. Sine he stopped at 69, I’ll stop when I get there.

Heather - Yes! I find it takes away from the enjoyment and I love sharing the talent. 😂
I have found myself really compartmentalizing my projects. Ceramics, scrapbooking and stockings are only for family and close friends so I love doing them and don’t think I would want to try to sell them.
The stuff we do for sales, I enjoy but mostly I find it a means to an end. I enjoyed it more when we sat at the table and worked on stuff at the same time. Now I feel it’s one big argument and mess.
It’s been grey and gloomy here for two days and that’s enough for me. It’s amazing what the sun does for our moods.
Ginny - that beef roast sounds good, is it in the freezer section?
Rebecca - that would have been a rude way to wake up.
I woke up very slowly this morning. I had slept so soundly that I felt I hadn’t moved for hours. It was an odd feeling. Even my dream kept lingering. It seems all of my loved ones were in it, even those that have passed.
Lanette - thank you. I hadn’t thought of having it replace anything but I can picture it now that you’ve said it.
Barbie - I love that blanket.
Michele - I had to Google to see if Sesame Street still airs. It does, it’s next season in 2025 will be having a new reimagined style.
40lbs is a a great loss no matter how you get it.
I made some more buildings today after I went to Dollar Tree for more trees.
Then I decided to finish one of Kaitlyn’s projects for her to surprise her next weekend.
I have a little more to do on it tomorrow.
Tomorrow I have to do something housework and some personal paperwork. Neither of which I want to do. If it gets as nice as it says I may decorate outside after the Remembrance Day services.
I slept in until 10 yesterday and 9 today. I don’t know why I’m so tired.

Oh those are the best kinds of dreams.💖. Did I ever tell you the dream I had of my Mom about a month after she had passed? So in my dream I am sitting in a formal living room where my piano was, at my childhood home. My Mom walks in and I say, "you're here". Not like I was just dreaming about her, but that she was here in my dream". She walks over to me and leans close to my right ear and says" hi" in a whispered voice. I woke up and I felt like she was right there. Like when you put your hand so close to your face but not touch it, then close your eyes. I get chills thinking about it. Her spirit definitely came to visit me. I burst out crying when I woke up.💖
Yes it was a jarring wakeup!
Oh those houses are so precious!👍🏼💖

Vince wants to cut the grass tomorrow. I have an appt with a chiropractor at 2:30. but I think I’ll be done by then
Regarding that ex-manager from hades at BK. I’m very surprised at how many days she doesn’t come to work. Well...not my problem. I will be nice and ask if they need me Wednesday. I sort-of hope not
Tracey – love your crafts
barbie – what a lovely blanket! Please post the pattern
pip – congrats on the new stove. How nice of Kirby the plan that cruise. Can’t wait to live it thru you

Barbie - That blanket is fabulous. I know it's for prem babies, but it would make a great cushion cover!
I had success at M & S yesterday. I tried on four pairs of casual, soft trousers, and settled on a kind of wide legged pant, in black. They have a slight crease down the front and are v comfortable. My waist size is bigger than my hip size, so I have to find stretchy waists. They don't have pockets, which is disappointing, but they do fit well.
I prowled the store for other things, but the lined, thermal joggers I liked had elastic round the bottom. We try to keep the heating to a minimum in the daytime, so it helps if I'm wearing something warm. I often give in and give myself an hour's heat!
It was really cold in the store, and I wasn't wearing a coat, anticipating a warm environment. Other people were complaining, and the till girl put her padded jacket on. Long queue for my egg sandwich and Earl Grey, but it was delicious. Then I bought two fillet steaks for our anniversary, and some dark chocolate with nuts for John, as part of his morning presents. They are all complete now.
Bus home, in time for the cleaner.
While I was out, Saga insurance rang about our two cruises. John was able to answer all her questions, so we are now insured.
Bea pick up has been cancelled today because her violin lesson has been moved to today for just this week. Bea is going to give her teacher the painting she did last Monday.
We are seeing them on Thursday for babysitting, and John will be cheering Edie on at the cross-country championships tomorrow lunchtime.
Might do some painting together this afternoon. I need to make him a card. I do it behind a screen. :-)

Happy Tuesday, everyone. I slept all day yesterday, and now it is 12:58 a.m., and I am wide awake. I did get some yoga and strength training in yesterday. I will go back to bed soon. The yoga was so relaxing. I had a very unruly patient and couldn't wait to go home. The nurse who was assigned to my patients was stuck in the elevator. So, I stayed waiting and tending to my patients who didn't have a nurse. My 14-year-old had a severe TBI and was trying to get out of bed and was not responding quickly enough to Ativan. I called the doctor, and when he came up, my guy did what most kids do( made me look like I am crazy). He was sleeping like an angel. Then he woke up and pulled his NG tube out during feeds. So, for the third time, we had to change his bed. I gave him a warm lavender bath to relax, and he slept briefly. We had him in restraints, but he was strong, and he outsmarted me. Then they told me the nurses would be stuck for four hours due to Vetaren's day, and the elevator guys were off. So they needed the fire department. The Elevators were off track. So I fed the baby and suctioned him. Then I changed his diaper. Then, they assigned them to the nurses who were around. So I gave them a report and went
home. Thank goodness I set the garbage out, or I would have been out of luck. Lately, we have had many TBI cases due to motor vehicle accidents. These fourteen-year-olds have been stealing their mom's car and joyriding. Unfortunately, they didn't know what they were doing. My guy was ejected out of the passenger window.
Lanette, I wore those pants home from the hospital after having a C-section, a Hysterectomy that was done laparoscopically, and no irritation like jeans would have done.
Barbara, that girl's mom, was hooked on drugs. Drug addicts will sell their legs for a quick fix. It is sad but true. Now, the young lady is safe and will be under psychiatric care.
Lisa, I wish you well on your craft sale. Have you ever considered becoming an Etsy vendor or selling online and in person?
Heather, 400 words is a lot of progress.
Barbie, I love that blanket!
PIP, What race is next on the horizon?
Have an extraordinary Tuesday, ladies. I hope it will be nice outside today; I want to hit the trail today.
Otherwise, I will do something else.

Vicki - so glad you popped in! I can't remember if I suggested checking with AAA (Area Agency on Aging) in your area, they might have some ideas.
Also, you might want to check with an employment agency that hires temps if you haven't already. Sometimes businesses are looking for someone for a few months to fill in for an employee on maternity leave, for example. And often, if the business likes the temp they find a permanent position for that person.
These temp positions usually don't have any benefits and the pay isn't great, but are a good way to keep skills up and get some new ones and put feelers out.
Good luck - keeping you in my thoughts!

Employment agencies can be great!
I've worked for 3 employment agencies.
1) I took a 6-month document control position between a cycling tour of Australia and starting my Bachelor of Education. And I kept going back and going back during summer breaks, during winter breaks, and here and there in between! I ended up working at that position on and off for 4 years.
That place had a policy of hiring via employment agencies. They had a very small HR team.
2) One summer in the middle of the above, I wanted to try something different so I got a receptionist position for an architectural firm. It was a great experience and I learned a lot.
3) When I moved to Australia, and could work, I signed on with an employment agency who set me up with an interview for a 4-month engineering tech position. I stayed for 2 years, then travelled the world for 8 months, then returned for another 6 months.
So yes, try several employment agencies but be discerning ... when I applied at each of the places, I indicated that I was an engineering technologist with business administration qualifications. I was willing to take document control, engineering tech, admin assistant and related positions.
I was, however, NOT willing to take the position one rather dodgy place offered me ... a one-night position being a clown at a sports event. And I didn't appreciate it when they tried to threaten me with, "if you turn down positions, you'll get a bad reputation and no one will hire you". I pulled my name off their list.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Thank you Lisa. Maybe my expectations are off, you are right.
Vicki glad to see you are applying for new jobs. You might find something you never heard of before that fits perfectly!
Sue too bad you are still dealing with damage from your toxic tenant. Hope there's an end to it soon.
Michele that mushroom is cute!
Pip a new stove and a cruise! Marvelous!
Well I'm kinda stuck in this no fiber phase of my recovery diet. So tricky. I had pizza last night, and that went well, but no fruits or vegetables yet. So it's not healthy and it's bad for weight loss. My skin is showing bad signs. I guess I just need to find my patience.
Dad has class today so I have groceries. Then the furnace guy is coming for maintenance. Hamburgers tonight.
Have a great day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Barbie ~ Pretty blanket...love blue and cream colors.
Tracey ~ Love the houses! How do you get them to light up? Do you have to buy lots of individual strings of battery run lights?
Sue ~ Hope the cabin cleanup will give you a better chance to hire future renters who will not destroy your property and make threats. Over the last 20 years we have had to evict two renters from our first house but now have a lady that has lived there for 10 yrs with no problem. Probably because we finally hired a rental agent to find her instead of trying to do it ourself.
Michele ~ The new ceramics are cute!
Well, I hit post instead of saving this as a draft so guess I will have to go back and finish reading. LOL

Hello, my chickens,
Second morning in a row I slept until 7! So wonderful be sleeping through the night.
Got out of the house yesterday at the urging of my husband, went to Joann's and got some fabric marking pencils I needed and stopped at Aldi's for a couple things for dinner. Picked up their rechargeable handheld mixer for $15. My old electric one is now in the donation box. The cord on that thing is such a pain that I often won't use it just because of that. So... one in, one out, one problem solved, and at a reasonable price. Well worth that upgrade, in my opinion.
When I set up the office area of my craft room, I put in a half dozen charging cords, just a few steps from the kitchen. The mixer works with one of those, so it will be easy to get and keep recharged. Love it, and indeed, used it for the spaghetti sauce for dinner. Threw some of the roasted garlic in that I roasted this weekend, and broth using Better than Bouillon Beef. They went into Corey's last jar of marinara that he canned from the garden. Neither his cucumbers nor tomatoes did as well this year as past years, but his peppers did really well, as did my herbs, and are continuing to grow. He's keeping the garden going until the first freeze.
And, speaking of whom, just got my "good morning," call from Corey. Well worth sleeping in, just to have that. Sorted out dinner while we were talking - pork ribs from the freezer and a baked potato for him, roasted sweet potato for me. Bothers him when I don't have a protein, but I'll try to eat some cheese sticks or something earlier in the day.
Got everything shipped in that I need to finish this first painting purse--and already getting inquiries about the fabric gift bags I made from the marketing the organizer is doing for the craft sale. Will be glad when it's done, but not dreading it yet. Will be dreading it by Friday morning!
Michele - Love the colors on the little race car. We are a crafty bunch, aren't we.
Mo - Am super surprised that I survived my 14th to 17th years... and a few years after that. Surprises me not at all that teenagers with access to vehicles are doing stupid things. Tragic in so many ways.
Vicki - Glad you dropped in, dear heart. I think of you often. Sending many good thought across the wires.
Annie - Patience is not my strong suit either... And when you've got a situation like that, time seems to stretch and snap back like a rubber band. You look at a calendar and realize it's only been a week gone by, when it felt like a month and vice versa. Was so glad to hear you got a good ride in and enjoyed it.
Time to get stuff done.
Later,
Love y'all,

Michele, Your ceramics have such a happy feel.
I started knitting Christmas stockings in 1976. I knit some as gifts. When other people wanted them, I figured out how much the yarn cost and said I'd knit them for the cost of materials. That was a financially lean time in my life and that gave me money to buy yarn. Later I charged a higher price and made a bit of extra money. I never sold things at craft shows. I knit things for family members for awhile until I realized that none of them were particularly appreciative of hand knit gifts so I started knitting for charities. Now the only thing I knit is blankets for Project Linus. Our local branch gives over a thousand blankets every year to people in need. I like that I can choose my own colors and pattern and that the blankets are going to people who appreciate them.
Lately I've knit the same pattern. The body is trinity stitch and the border is seed stitch. There are videos online for the stitches. I spent a lot of time figuring out how to make the blanket the size I wanted. I figured out that I had to increase stitches after the seed stitch border and then decrease when I got back to the seed stitch at the end.
Jake's daughter is here for a visit. She arrived yesterday afternoon and will stay until Friday. She slept at our house last night, but is going to an Airbnb for the rest of the week.

I wrote 500 words this morning, about the time I was so nearly run over when we first moved here. John saved me by pulling me back at the last second! Next session, the time I could so easily have been run over when I broke my wrist.
In the midst of life ........
After lunch we both settled down to paint cards for each other, af opposite ends of the table, behind screens. I enjoyed that. I used some new tubes of watercolour, which always feels special.
Veal escalopes for dinner. I almost burnt the leeks I was cooking to go with them, as I was concentrating on my painting. They are slightly charred, but will be all the more delicious for it. Also having broccoli. Stewed plums for dessert.
Great British Bake Off tonight.
We actually saw some sun today!

@SophieRosieMom I am prediabetic. I have insurance till the end of the year so that might be a thing. I have done "noom" before. I found it to just moderately helpful. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to check them out!
I use Hope80/20 with the Healthie app. Free app and you can do the program for free, just no videos or personal coaching. It is a pre-diabetes plan based off the My Plate plan from the FDA. Another free plan with an app. Look online, there is a lot out there for free. I found the Hope 80/20 very helpful and post information from my plan once a month. You get 6 months of weekly tips then once a month. It is a one year plan. I hope this helps you Penny!

Mo - Realized after I saw Pip's answer that I didn't give you an answer to your question. The answer is "no," I haven't tried Etsy or just selling online, mostly because I'm lazy. I don't want to market things - but this kind of craft show works for me because all the marketing is in someone else's hands. I will offer my services next year to her, though, as there are five typos on her flyer, which she used to make her signs that are up and around all the neighborhoods:
Makes my editorial teeth hurt. Won't say it until AFTER the show, however. Chances are no one around here will notice.

Cut the grass. In a few I need to leave for the chiropractor. Started out wearing pants, but it is warm out so I changed to shorts. Bet I’ll need pants for ceramics tonight
M – got a bee question for you. We have, what I think is a nest, between bricks that are in our drain. How can I get rid of them?
Lisa – Vince painted the racecar and I did the mushroom. Both things will go out by the pool. YOUR invited? I’m constantly amazed at the grammar typos that the newspaper makes. If you were to expect anyone to use correct grammar, you would think a newspaper would. But so many times they don’t
barbie – I used to always make something for all the kids for Christmas. But now I only make something for Jessica. Denise doesn’t appreciate it so I just get her a gift certificate to WalMart since I know that’ll be used. Have a good visit
Rita – GROAN
Off to the chiropractor
