Thanks for sharing the recipe @Teresa502!
And thank you for your service @quilteryoyo and @SummerSkier and any other vets in this thread.5 -
Morning all
Got in 7.49M at 10"09 pace.
@SummerSkier would you say an alcoholic drink before noon is a 'sweet' ? Mimosa maybe. Bloody Mary? Definitely no.
@Teresa502 sounds yum! Pics next time you make! I love cinnamon-y things.
Cinnabon. And my favourite cheesecake factory cheesecake is the Cinnabon cinnamon swirl one...
(Flying States side next Friday... It is on my list!! Lol)
Which leads nicely into donuts...
@kgirlhart @SummerSkier
Cinnamon-y ones. Obviously. Which probably covers apple type ones too.
But favourite donut is probably Lotus Biscoff one.
Agreed on chocolate donuts. Nah.7 -
@martaindale I'm glad your run felt good yesterday!
Thanks @kgirlhart . That's sweet of you.
@tarun_yadavA Nice running. I'll have to try the Cinnabon cinnamon swirl cheesecake sometime. Sounds yummy.
I have a non-running favor to ask. I'll put it in the spoiler, in case you want to ignore it.My niece's best friend found out about 2 months ago that their little boy has cancer. He was three months old then and just turned 5 months old. They are at St Judes in Memphis for treatments and hopefully surgery in Dec...it's a neuroblastoma in his abdomen. Anyway, the request isn't for him. He has a big sister who will be turning 4 this month. They are all in Memphis and, as you can imagine, her little brother is getting all of the attention, as it should be. Her mom is wanting to make her birthday special by having her receive a ton of birthday cards where they are staying. So, if you would be so inclined, you can send her a card at
Ellie Moncier
1811 Poplar Ave
Memphis, TN 38104
If you want to mention that you are my friend, my real name is Vicky Robinson.
Ellie and Rowan.

Nov 2 – 11.01 miles
Nov 3 – 2.03 miles
Nov 5 – 5.11 miles
Nov 7 – 5.07 miles
Nov 9 – 12.03 miles
Nov 10 – 2.01 miles
Nov 12 – 4.61 miles
Total 41.87 miles/Goal 100 miles
An early morning meeting meant a shorter run this morning but I got 4.61 miles in.
FWIW I’m perfectly comfortable with eating chocolate before noon and having a nice slice of cake as my main meal! I prefer the cakey donuts also. My favorite is sour cream which sounds weird but it’s wonderfully moist.
I know Veteran’s Day was yesterday but still want to say thank you to @quilteryoyo and @SummerSkier and other vets here for your sacrifices and service!
Would be honored to send Ellie a birthday card @quilteryoyo and will say a prayer for Rowan also. St. Jude’s is such a wonderful place for sick children and for their families. We have three little girls from our county there now.

@tarun_yadavA I'm pretty sure it's the 21st. Her mom just said it's this month.
Thanks @Teresa502 .Great job getting in what you could this morning. Also thanks for the card and prayers. I know they will appreciate it.3 -
@tarun_yadavA You asked me about vacay a few days ago. We get 30 days. I definitely can’t complain about that! The trip I recently went on for 3 weeks with the kids was extra, as it was paid for by the health insurance to help me destress (which I definitely did!), so I will have quite a bit of vacation left at the end of the year.
Once again I have gotten behind this month. My daughter just turned 8 on Friday and wanted 2 parties. One for adults, one for kids, so I had my hands full these past few days.
My youngest can’t go to kindergarten today or tomorrow, as they are doing some training workshop, so no running today and probably tomorrow unless I get him to accompany me on his scooter .
Yesterday, I went on a 14.1 km run to get some distance in. It was a great run but afterwards my knee was really bugging me. I have issues bending it. It had been bothering me for over half a year now, and, as much as I was hoping the issue would work its own way out, I’m going to try and get it looked at soon.
75.1/200km for November.6 -
Omg @quilteryoyo that's such a great idea. And cancer in a 3m old. My heart is breaking2
-
Well up and out the door for a 4.5k run. Feel like it's coming back, maybe I have lost everything. My slow pace is currently 7:40min/km not the 6 I was doing a few years ago but with time and dedication...
I was going back through old posts to see how I did it the first time, and I have to keep reminding myself it's slow progress and consistency.
I've also decided to change things up a little. I'm going to run in the morning and pilates in the avo. I want to do both and this seems like the best way. Also apparently my pilates videos was waking my husband in the morning so... Lol8 -
That is a very sweet gesture for the big sister @quilteryoyo 🥰
OMG @Laurz9191 30 days vacation PLUS 3 weeks paid by insurance for stress relief?!!!! That is absolutely outstanding!!! And totally unheard-of here in the States. 😫
I also missed Veteran's Day. Thank you @quilteryoyo and @SummerSkier and any other service men / women. You all are heroes and what makes our country so great.
Got out for 6.2 miles this morning. Perfect weather, phone said 48F, 0 wind. Garmin says 54F, 3mph. Either way it was very pleasant.

quilteryoyo wrote: »@AmunahSki I'm sorry that your knee/hip is hurting you. Hopefully a day or two of rest is all it's needs. What do you think it might be about Jeff's plan that is bothering you?
The plan only has one ‘long’ run per week, and it jumped from 2 miles to 4 miles this week - a 100% increase! - so while mentally I was ready, (apparently) I don’t think I was necessarily physically ready? The drills and long runs this far haven’t exceeded 1.5 miles in 4 weeks.
Coach Greg’s plan increased by time, so my distances increased incrementally as my fitness improved, for instance:
15-minute run: 1.05 miles to 1.29
20-minute run: 1.65 miles to 2.26
30-minute run: 2.42 miles to 3.42
40-minutes run: 3.29 miles to 4.63
There might be other reasons for soreness or ‘injury’ (if that’s what this is), and even as a beginner I recognise there are a lot of factors involved that combine in one’s ‘readiness’ to do a run, day-to-day… but my limited experience so far is increasing distance ought to be done more slowly on any plan?

Go away for a few days and I can't keep up with the posts.
To everyone who ran a race, great job!
To everyone else, happy Tuesday!
I did a trail run to a mountain pass this last Saturday but had to move along, nothing to see. Kinda cool to be in the clouds with snow coming down though.
So far 67 of 200ks for the month.

@quilteryoyo this is so sad, I will send a card and hope it arrives on time
@WarmJellyfish that is an impressive photo, it must have been a strange run
Goal : 80km for November
2nd Nov 🏃♀️ 5.06 km in 35:36 min (pace 7:02/km) Saturday parkrun
3rd Nov 🏃♀️ 5.02 km 36:05 min (pace 7:11/km) usual Sunday mums run + 🚶♀️ 2.5 km walk
5th Nov 🚶♀️3.14 km walk
7th Nov 🚶♀️ 3.6 km walk
10th Nov 🏃♀️ 5.22 km in 36 min (pace 6.55 / km ) speed repeat: warm up, 1min fast 1min slow X10, cool down, with one other skating mum during the kids training + 🚶♀️ 4.2 km ice rink walk
11th Nov 🏃♀️ 5.91 km in 45 minutes (easy run from my Garmin plan)
12th Nov 🚶♀️ 4 km walk around the ice rink with 2 other mums during the kids training
Running: 21.21 km done, 58.79 km to go6 -
@Laurz9191 That is a lot of vacation days! Sounds like you did have your hands full the last few days, but I'm sure your daughter really appreciated it. I hope there is nothing serious wrong with your knee!
Thanks @Avidkeo . It is heartbreaking. I can't imagine how hard that is for the parents and siblings. Nice job with the running and, you are right...slow, steady, and consistent will get you back to where you want to be. I'm sure your husband will be glad for the changes in your schedule.
Thanks @Scott6255 . Great running.
@AmunahSki I agree that Coach Jeff seemed to increase the distance for the long runs too fast. I guess he is assuming that there will be a lot of walking in those distances. I do like his plan, but am just doing whatever distances I want for the long runs. Also, I am doing his MH plan, but only training for 10 miles, so that makes a difference too.
That's a beautiful, cold run @WarmJellyfish .
Thanks @Emilienewme . I'm sure it won't matter if the card is late. Kids do love to get mail. Get job getting in your walk again!

37.25/80 mile goal
I worked at daycare today. For some reason, I was tired when I got home, so went out for a driveway wun. I really expected it to be slow, but it felt pretty good once I got going. The avg pace was 14:05 min/mile, so I am going to call it a run instead of a walk. Avg HR was 127 with a max of 146 bpm.
The oldest class at daycare had made pictures for me for Veteran's Day. That was a sweet, pleasant surprise.

… but my limited experience so far is increasing distance ought to be done more slowly on any plan?
The rule of thumb I have always heard is not to increase weekly mileage by more than 10% a week.
@quilteryoyo is probably on to something. If Jeff is expecting a lot of that distance to be walking he probably feels more comfortable increasing the mileage. I looked up his HM plan on the run Disney site and there are some pretty big swings in long run distance on that plan too.4 -
November Goal: 100 miles
11/1: 8.20 miles
11/3: 5.02 miles
11/5: 4.02 miles
11/7: 4.26 miles
11/9: 13.20 miles
11/11: 2.52 miles
11/12: 4.02 miles
41.25/100 miles completed for November
Still feeling a little sore, but did get 4 miles in this morning. It was slow and felt like work, but it was a beautiful morning. It was about 48°F and not windy. I did wear my fingerless gloves, but was fine in shorts and a t-shirt.
@quilteryoyo That is so heartbreaking for the entire family. I will definitely be sending a birthday card and sending prayers too.
@Laurz9191 I am so jealous of your vacation time.
This also happened today.
This includes running, walking and daily steps.

This English food blogger I follow just posted this!
Looks amazing!
@kgirlhart well done on 2024!!
@Laurz9191 Germany way better for leave than England as I guessed.
(Scandanavian countries have the most generous leave packages and paid time off in Europe, right?)5 -
Morning all.
Got in 7.49M at 10"107 -
Oh that's funny. @tarun_yadavA I get my hair done in the same shopping center and the lines are always around the block for that BBQ place. I did not realize.
Congrats @kgirlhart on your RTY accomplishment! You are one of the anchors of our team for sure! 👏👏👏
5 miles yesterday morning and it was pretty nice except my fingers got just a touch chilled. Up to almost 53 out of 100 goal and 1312 running miles for the year.
@WarmJellyfish that is a COOL trail run photo. Reminds me of when I used to snow ski.
@quilteryoyo thanks for sharing about the little boy and his sister. It is hard. I actually knew a baby who had kidney cancer and had to have both kidneys removed (one at a time) as a small baby and do chemo etc... She had to have dialysis until she was about 7 or 8.. But she ended up getting a kidney from her dad once she was big enough and still has it. I never realized until I watched a TV show once that organ transplants don't last forever either... Praying for the family.6 -
Thank you so much @kgirlhart . It is heartbreaking. Great recovery run and big CONGRATS on 2024 miles!!!! A-MAZ-ING!
Nice run, as always @tarun_yadavA . That BBQ place sounds so good.
Great running @SummerSkier ! Thanks for the prayers. All cancer sucks. It just seems worse when a baby/little kid has to deal with it. I'm glad the little girl you knew is doing okay now.3 -
@Emilienewme @quilteryoyo @SummerSkier there is actually a mountain behind those clouds. Par for weather around these bits
Quilteryoyo - Belated Veteran's Day, from another vet. Sigh, where did the time go.5 -
Good morning everyone just 5k for me this morning. I’m at that wonderful time of the year when work has pretty much finished for me, consequently I’m sick, my daughter is sick, my husband is sick (fortunately, all very minor but the niggling cough keeps you awake at night) and my second daughter was too tired to go to school yesterday. This means my week of nothing in my calendar has been completely thwarted. But oh well that’s what happens11
-
Thank you for your service too @WarmJellyfish . You'll have to do that run again when it is clear.
I'm sorry you're family is all feeling under the weather @ContraryMaryMary . I hope you all feel better soon.
My day was interesting. I had to report for jury duty this morning and was picked for the jury. The trial was a short one, so finished it up today, but it was stressful and made for a long day. I got done in time to pick up mom and make it to church, barely. So, when I got home tonight, I didn't have the energy for anything other than a mile walk on the treadmill.11 -
November Goal: 100 miles
11/1: 8.20 miles
11/3: 5.02 miles
11/5: 4.02 miles

11/11: 2.52 miles
11/12: 4.02 miles
11/13: 6.02 miles
47.26/100 miles completed for November
My legs were feeling almost back to normal this morning. It was a beautiful morning. A little warm at 64°F especially after 48°F yesterday morning. But it was a lovely day. I almost felt like I could run forever, but I was still a little tired. I did get 6 miles in though. They were slow, but felt good.

Nov 12 – 4.61 miles
Nov 13 – 5.02 miles
Total 46.89 miles/Goal 100 miles
I didn’t post last night but I did get a 5 mile run in after work. After sitting at a work-related event all day and eating crap it felt good to get outside and move. It’s cold and rainy here today so not sure I will get a run in. I probably need to so that I can take a rest day tomorrow before Saturday’s long run.
7 -
Did a short 7k last night, all the while dodging non stopping cars at intersections. Maybe I should start carrying a brick.
https://cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/granville-island-pedestrian-safety-crosswalk-1.7160751
It'll be 4 months of dark after work outdoor runs from now till end February next year. Feel like a vampire...8 -
The middle of November and STILL no runs. I DID get in a 6.42 mile walk last night, though. It's a start...8
