How do you stay motivated to resist cravings/temptation?

I would love to hear some of the ways you keep yourself motivated and stay away from tempting snacks/treats. I have high anxiety and when I am anxious I tend to reach for high sugar foods.

I don't have those things in the house. If I'm somewhere else, I try to delay it drinking 12 oz of water or eating an apple. I tell myself that I can have whatever after I drink the water or something. Sometimes it works.

One thing that I have recently started/learned is to keep a cravings journal. It's relatively simple. I note down what I'm up to in the moment like what i was thinking for example like finding an accountability buddy and how I felt frustrated and angry that I couldn't find one then what I did, I set a timer for 10 minutes and then I either meditate, or listen to audiobooks/podcasts or exercise basically something to replace my thoughts of getting a snack/treat with something to replace it with
Then later in the future I review it with AI to figure out what my triggers are and what's worked

    1. empty your house of any snacks and foods you may binge.

I don't buy them to keep in the house. If I do have a craving that won't leave me alone, I must walk to the store to get it, get a single serving/pkg and eat it on the way home to help my body process the sugar. If I don't eat it all, I still must do some form of exercise after I eat it to help my blood sugar stabilize, so I generally try to eat it before I take a walk outside or do some form of exercise. I've noticed that it seems like sugar tends to increase/be a cause of my hot flashes.

Also, I suggest googling craving + vitamin deficiency. I kept craving chocolate all the time, so I googled that out of curiosity, and it said craving chocolate might indicate a magnesium deficiency. I upped my magnesium intake and it did actually, make most of the craving go away. Now, it's an occasional craving/treat, not a daily monster I must slay or give in to.

I've been trying to eat better, like subbing out bananas aka fruits for highly processed sweets like a cheap chocolate bar, and my cravings have been subsiding, which is not to say that I don't have some fun sometimes like a tortilla with peanut butter on it, chopped up banana, and some chopped up chocolate candy or chocolate syrup on it.
