Tofu

Hi I'm Pam. I've discovered Tofu. Haven't eaten much of this in the past but have just realised what a little gem this stuff is. Super low in carbs and calories, high in protein. Just need to learn how to cook it as it's a bit bland just on it's own.

I love tofu! I usually just marinate it in some stir fry sauce and then bake it in my toaster oven for about 20 minutes..
probably my favorite is to put it in a "patty melt"with sautéed onions and cheese..which probably negates the health benefits. 😋1 -
I eat it often, mostly cooked in lazy ways that may or may not work for you.
Here are a few that I do with plain firm tofu:
* Cut in small cubes, mix with veggies and a flavoring or sauce. A couple easy favorings/sauces: Peanut sauce made from peanut butter powder, soy sauce, rice vinegar, spices, maybe chile sauce if you like heat. Dark miso plus kim chi.
* Cut in small cubes, bake at 400F on a cookie sheet until lightly browned, then marinate (absorbs more than when unbaked,
lazier than pressing) and use in stir fries, soups, or whatever
* Cut in thin slabs, bake as above, marinate lightly (not drippy), put in sandwiches
* Cut in sticks, bake as above until pretty firm/crispy, eat with dip of any type
* Blend into creamy soups like bean or squah/pumpkin
* Use plain or baked thin slices in layered casseroles
Also, a surprising amount of soft tofu can be blended with mashed avocado to lighten the calories and add protein, with little texture/ flavor effect, whether used in guacamole or as a sandwich layer. I haven't done this in a while, can't remember exactly what proportions I used, but you can blend in the tofu gradually and taste along the way.

Hello and Welcome!~
I have discovered Tofu recently and so far I like it. I learned how to press it, bake it, stir fry it. I am certain I do a lot wrong but it's all part of my journey.
