Thanks for the recommendations, Debbie. I ordered some Deva Curls from Amazon. I found a 12-oz bottle for $20. I’ll try that. I’ve been using Kevin Murphy’s Killer Twirls. I don’t dislike it, but I’ve been struggling to get it right, and it’s nearly $40 for 6 oz. I need something a little more affordable, especially if I’m not “in love”.

    Good morning ladies!

Neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Roger headed back to Seattle to see their hospitalized son yesterday morning, and he's finally doing better, no longer intubated after over a week in the ICU. He's able to sit up but still needs oxygen. I didn't know pneumonia could get that nasty anymore, especially in people in their 50's. I guess now his wife has it. This all stemmed from a cold their child picked up at school. :#

Unfortunately, RSV is making itself known as the bringer of pneumonia.

    https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/rsv-in-adults

I picked up RSV on our flight back to Australia in early October. I have not been so sick with a "cold" in a long, long time. I tested myself for COVID a couple times because I was so sick.

When my husband got it, I watched him carefully for any symptoms of pneumonia, and we saw a doctor who checked his lungs when his cough continued for a couple weeks. Fortunately, he was OK.

Wearing masks, using hand sanitiser, deep cleaning etc. are all still good options. People around here have started wearing masks again because of the upsurge of COVID and many places still have hand sanitiser at the door. At work, we've all got hand sanitiser on our desks and we use it. That's one of the first things I do when I come in from lunch after being in the shops.

Lanette: Have you had any benefit from Nioxin. I have thin hair and do believe it has helped over the years. I have been with one hairdresser around 9 years. He likes to read and we discuss what he is reading.

Barbie: The Authenticity Project sounds interesting!

PIPCD: I am either going to get a pottery bench or cart with wheels for my plants!

Heather: Were you and John able to paint on Wed morning?

Carol: I hope your DH is feeling better. I motored over to Madison GA for a get away at a B&B there. I enjoyed it.

    Rosilind: Welcome!

Annie: Glad you are feeling better!

Lisa: I am sorry you are in such pain and your mobility is limited. I hope this new ortho has some treatment ideas.

My first car was a Chevy Cavalier and then a Pointiac Grand Am and then several Honda Accords. We purchased a disability van with the ramp and wheel chair lock. When I sold this I got a used Rav4. I am happy with the Rav4.

My doctor also gave me the all clear on doing yoga despite having osteoporosis. I find venting does help and I miss my DH dearly because living alone there is no one to vent to. At this stage i guess there is less to vent about. Retired, son is grown..I am grateful for all my husband gave me in this world. I miss him dearly.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Best,
    Rosemarie from GA

The exercises I posted earlier this month in a spoiler were specifically for osteoporosis. They had 3 versions of yoga poses depending on the severity of the diagnosis. The list I posted is from my back doctor and helps to strengthen the muscles in your back around the spine. I’ll post them again in this spoiler. They might help. They help me.

Although the exercise might have been labelled as specifically for osteoporosis, they are common yoga and pilates exercises as well as being warm-up stretches for running, cycling and even fencing. :)

    They are good "all-rounders".

I am cheap- I don't spend that much. Love getting the different ones at Black Friday- try them out and if I love them and they aren't too expensive, I will buy online.
I only wash my hair once, maybe twice a week so products last a long time.

Tracey - Your snowmen are very sweet! :D<3 Bet they sell. :o

I'm currently searching Amazon for the 'perfect' wipeable tablecloth for our pancake orgy with the kids on Christmas Eve. It makes the most horrible mess, but I love it. I've already got the GF sprinkles in. :p
We all have a go at making the GF pancakes. And laugh at the results. It's the thin, French style pancakes, 'crêpes', not the fat ones.

I needed 3 km to reach my goal of 200 km of cycling in November. So I went out for a 6.6 km bicycle ride. :)

Then I worked for 3 hours in the garden, mainly digging with my mattock! I'm rather sore now!

Phew i didn't get to sleep until after 2 am and got a call at 5 ,Tracy asking if she could bring the kids over.. Miles woke up at 2 and because they have a small house and he is wild ,Kyle couldn't sleep so of course he threw a fit.. cant take Miles in Delia's room because all of Kyles priceless sneaker collection is in there.. they have a small 1940s cape and what they need is a playroom where she doesn't have to leave the house. Of course they come over and my house is not spotless like theres is,because he wants it that way.. and Miles is running around crazy.. Tracy is beyond exhausted ,he is ripping up my rug and running all ov er, they finally just left.. and im going to try and wind down and get some more sleep if thats possible. The plans I had for this morning are shot. And believe you me I would have a thing or 2 to say to Kyle.. its the freaking werkend you deal with the kid,he has no patience.. thats qhy Tracy deals with it.

Terri … thank you for sharing your readings … lovely, as you are!

Allie … I think Carmine may have had the right idea by leaving. Sounds like a chaotic environment.

Illness … my 27 yo son is just getting over a 10 day bout of some crud. Doctor was out of town so they prescribed antibiotics without seeing him (he tested negative for covid). Better but still has bronchial cough/irritation. There has been an uptick of illnesses in our area too.

Christmas shopping … really at a loss for gift ideas this year. Fortunately I don’t have much to do any more . I will, however, continue to send cards!

Snowy and cold this morning. Snow is starting to accumulate so we’ll see what we end up with.

    Have a good weekend!

    Morning, all,

Got a kitty in my lap, one that has just finally stopped looking around corners to see if there are strangers there... She takes "stranger danger!" to new heights. 🙀👀😹 She doesn't even mind the typing - coming off a stressful day for her.

Trying to get my brain adjusted to it finally REALLY being the weekend, after having Corey home for the last couple of days as well. Got a few things I would like to get done around the house, and will probably send him off to do the grocery shopping. I know there are going to be far more people around than I want to deal with, and walking long distances is... no fun.

I will say, it helps a lot to walk longer distances if I can lean on a shopping cart. Just can't bring myself to use the motorized carts, though. Too proud? Maybe. I don't know. I know I come home exhausted now, so I just do most of my shopping online and have it delivered. Quite handy, that.

Terri - LOVED hearing your voice and seeing your face in the video. Thank you for posting that! And really enjoyed the short story and the poem.

Rori - Good to see you, enjoy the rest of your trip! Look forward to the travelogue on your return.

Family stuff - Not dramatic, just reasonably boring, skip if you want:
Son John and his loving partner, Soraya, have decided that they're going to move up to Boise in the spring. At least, I think that's the timing. I didn't object - I'll miss them, but now is the time in their lives when they should do these things, while they're young and have the energy and the time.

Considering that Soraya gets skittish about driving in the winter and winter is six months long, I don't think they'll stay too long, but I know that saying it wouldn't get through to them, so I don't. Of course, that decision follows on the decision they made to move to Chattanooga, Tennessee, so I'm also not holding my breath.

And since I'm talking about the kids... our daughter just sent us a Mom journal and a Dad journal, for the two of us to write down the answers to all kinds of questions. I swear, it's like she's never met her dad. I can barely get him to write a list for the store! Writing down his feelings about things. Good grief. I handed it to him without commentary, and he said, "I don't even like reading paper books now. Certainly not going to WRITE one."

Sooo...there's a little disappointment headed her way for those, I'm afraid. I'll just get my autobiography printed before I croak over and hand it to her. I have my own struggles writing out more than a sticky note by hand.

Started streaming "Preacher" on Netflix. Verrrrry dark, not at all what I expected, and when I mentioned it in front of John, he informed me it was part of the Marvel universe. I had no idea! Haven't even seen a comic book in a decade or more, so it never occurred to me. Oddly enough, really enjoying it, but can only take one or two episodes--I start tensing up by that point. So I pull up a cooking or woodworking or sewing video and relax.

Ah, Corey's up, so the coffee drinking portion of the morning is over, and Egg's sauntered off to see what he's doing in the bathroom. I think she always hopes it will be something different. And more interesting, perhaps.

Time to get a few things done! Hope it is or was a lovely, peaceful Saturday.

    Love,

I really loved seeing you read your work, Terri. You are so right about a grandchild. <3<3<3 I thought your outfit looked very 'put together', and just right for the occasion near Christmas.

Going downstairs to make the sauce for the cauliflower cheese in a moment, after I've drunk my tea. I blanched the cauliflower at lunchtime. We are having it with black pudding.

Lots of emails flying backwards and forwards about the school year reunion next spring. Looks like I might get a lift, at least one way. I would prefer John to collect me, so I can leave when I want to.

It's my son in Nottingham's birthday today. 48 years old. Nearly old enough for Saga. :p

Our TV recorder is playing up. It's the connection with the TV, so I actually think it's a TV problem. But we have to disconnect and reconnect it each time. Boo! My son offered us his old one recently, so I wonder if that's the best option.

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

My friend's daughter made it to Belgium...They hope to return middle of next week. I know it is overwhelming the number of people who show up in times like these. I am hoping to just go to her home and just be there and let her do the talking and help out where I can. I also know that after everyone leaves and gets back to their lives it can be hard. I still think of how the Muslim Culture handles a death. One of the aids at a school I worked in lost a child to a car accident. The woman came prepped food and we just sat in a big circle surrounding the mother. Those closest to her sat on either side of her protecting her. A lesson our culture could learn from them. Sometimes the need is to just show up!

I got some candy to load my Advent calendar which is wooden and I fill each year with Hershey kisses - 2 each day, one for DH, one for me. We both enjoy that tradition.
    RVRita

:) In the book I'm reading that has sort of a Christmas theme, the writer tells the story of someone who loaded an Advent calendar with chocolates except that in several of them, loaded no chocolate and substituted a note that said "Life's not fair."

:) Jake's daughter (the one I think is terrific) sent him a similar journal a few years ago and he chose his words carefully to tell her that he appreciated the sentiment but there wasn't a chance in the world that he would answer any of the questions. In the abstract, it sounds like a great gift, but I wouldn't answer the questions either.

Happy Saturday. Went out this morning for a couple items. Glad to be home and warm.Last evening at DS and family was nice. Lots of food and noise. I can't take all the kids runnung and yelling. We left early. Texted DDIL and DS and thanked them for hosting.
Katie--Sorry to hear about your brother's accident. Glad he wasn't hurt any worse. Love the pie and possum story. I would of done the same thing. We did that a couple times with my friend when she was in the home. So much easier on everyone.
Rori--Glad you are having a fun trip. Looking forward to hearing all about it when you get home.
    Rita--Beautiful sunrise. Thanks for sharing.
    Kylia--Sending prayers and hugs.
One of my favorite things about Christmas is sending cards. Some people on my list we only connect once a year. I tell DH I don't need a gift, just let me do my cards.
