Pip - looks like a lovely walk.
We had a good thanksgiving in spite of the cold. It is funny, quite some time ago we decided to eat out because DDIL is allergic to the cats. She takes meds and is OK for a short time but all day is really too much for her. This year with no heat in the house it was a lifesaver. We went to Emory's and they had a special that included a starter, entree and dessert. It was a limited menu but everyone got something they wanted and it was very good.
Good news yesterday the furnace guys spent the entire day here but we are now the proud owners of a new furnace and heat pump. It was so nice to wake up to a warm house today after 11 days without heat. I am very grateful for all their hard work.
Glad all who celebrated had a good day.
Most of my Christmas decorating and shopping is done. Just a bit left to do. Good thing too as the new heating system put a major hole in the budget.
DGS and his partner leave tomorrow afternoon. Love them, but glad to get back to "normal" what ever that is. At least much quieter and lower grocery bill. LOL
Everyone take care, Sue in WA9 -
Christmas cards are my favorite part of Christmas!!!! I keep thinking I will give them up, but .....Nope! One year they didn't even get mailed until after Christmas. They have to go out. As Vicki said, sometimes it is just once a year that I reach out to these people but they are always on my mind. It is sad to think that this tradition is going away....
Now that I have the last of the Thanksgiving day dishes cleaned and put away, I think I will work on some Christmas cards

Kylia ~ So glad you checked in. We miss you when you are not here.
Sue ~ So glad you got heat restored. It's been in the 20's and 40's here today in GA so I am glad that we have heat.
Allie ~ I'm sorry Kyle's needs supersede the needs of his family.
Heather ~ I had crepes one time when my son worked for a French restaurant for a short time and I remember liking them a lot. Would love to understand how to make them.
Lisa ~ Wonder why your son and his gal want to move. Will they be able to get the support they need in a new location?
I have nothing to add to the day!

Spent day with granddaughter and her mom. Was going to babysit while the parents went to OSU game. DIL was up all last night with food poisoning. I went up and stayed with gd until mom recovered - son went on to game. Sorry Ohio State lost, but it is just a game. Home now and getting my laundry finished and ironing done. Finish budget tomorrow (for the most part).
Take care all,

Good afternoon ladies!
Kay - glad the Thanksgiving meal finally came together. Wow, sorry to hear about your brother but glad he was able to get home the same day, hope he's recovering well. I like Annie's idea of removing a small piece out of future pecan pies as a reminder of "Mr. Possum."
Beth - I saw the weather prediction for your area yesterday and wondered if you'd get some major snowfall. How nice of your mom's facility to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for the family like that.
Terri - l really enjoyed your story - I just caught the tail end of the flower gal - I need to make time to watch her whole presentation too. If I lived in your community, I think I'd have fun participating in some of the activities you attend. And your ponytail is adorable!
Kylia - great to see you pop in. I made a teeny bit of headway on cards yesterday. I have an assortment of cards in my "stash" and take a few minutes to pick the "right" one for folks. That part is done, now the writing.
Sue - so glad to hear you finally have heat. You should be set for a long, long time. I think eating out for Thanksgiving was a great option- no cooking half the day, everyone gets what they want, no dishes.
Carol - sounds like you are in the freezer. My low was 30f this morning, the chicken water bowl had a thin sheet of ice on it. Have some nice sunshine this afternoon, the girls were glad to take a little walk. Gladys found some worms, lol.
Pip - nice doggy coats and beautiful walk in your neighborhood. Thanks for sharing.
Vicki - glad you are taking some time for yourself and de-stressing from that job. Kids running around/noise would have me reaching for the car keys too.
Speaking of car keys.....I went to start the Camry this morning to head out for early morning shopping. She refused to start. I moved my purse into the Subaru and took off - didn't want to mess with the Camry right then - temperature was 30f and I didn't want both garage doors open very long to chill the house even more. As I drove to town, I thought about it - it was likely a dead battery. The battery is probably 6 or 7 years old and DH didn't drive that car for months at a time and was always charging it. I wondered how long it would last. When I got home, I climbed back in, turned the key one click and the radio played for 15 seconds then nothing. No juice. Will pick up a new battery this week and Charlie will put it in for me next time he's in the area. Very grateful it died in the garage and not in the Walmart parking lot at 7 am on a rainy morning!
All of you who are stiff and sore when you first get out of bed, raise your hands (if your shoulders and elbows aren't hurting!). I'm grateful for the miracle of black coffee and stretching to set things right, and grateful I can generally get 6 or 7 hours of good sleep.
But I'm going to stop by the "M" store next week and see what they have for "natural" pain relief that I can take at night when my back and/or neck are sore, something other than ibuprofen or muscle relaxers. I haven't been in that store for over 2 years - I'd stop in and buy DH some goodies from time to time. I think things have come a long way as far as medical applications. Right now I have a crick in my neck, it's been there the past few days. Heat and ice seem to help, plus I have PT exercises I've been doing.

Lisa: When the first lockdown hit our elder grandson asked us to do that for his birthday gift as the family had to celebrate it virtually. DH and I took it as a compliment and both enjoyed collaborating on the project. He sent us well over 50 questions and we both discussed them and answered them. After 58 years of marriage it was wonderful to reminisce about our lives together and our childhoods.

crepes are not that hard to make if you have a nonstick small frying pan(that is what I have used. We used to actually have a crepe maker that was super simple. Not sure if they even make them any more.
The main trick is to get them thin enough that they cook through but not so thin that they tear when you take them out of the pan. The first one or two will most likely not be perfect while you figure the technique down.
I haven't made them in YEARS- maybe I will try them. I know my son loves them. Sweet ones and savory ones.

I got some candy to load my Advent calendar which is wooden and I fill each year with Hershey kisses - 2 each day, one for DH, one for me. We both enjoy that tradition.

In the book I'm reading that has sort of a Christmas theme, the writer tells the story of someone who loaded an Advent calendar with chocolates except that in several of them, loaded no chocolate and substituted a note that said "Life's not fair."

Cool idea! Except that if I donβt open it, DH wonβt. Found a doggie Advent Calendar with jerky in it at Samβs yesterday. It looked like it had 2 of them but when I got home and opened it this morning, it was only one but with BIG pieces of jerky in each door, which I will cut in half for my 2 small dogs. Nighttime snacks for them! I didnβt even put mine up yet! Will do that later today.
By afternoon yesterday, I was coughing and sneezing, then at night, colitis attack. Woke up with a cold/sinus thing this morning. SHEESH! If itβs not one type of medical it is another at this age! Aging is definitely not fun!! Hope to do some decorating today if I feel up to it. At least the Advent Calendar. I did get all our Christmas shopping done this weekend. We both got new shavers, some clothes, and other trinkets. All thatβs left is for me to do Christmas Cards and mail them.
It got down into the 20βs last night and of course, a camper came knocking at like 7 am because of frozen pipe. We didnβt answer the door. They did manage to catch the ranger who helped them out with spare parts FROM OUR STASH! He emailed me what he did. I wonder what they will do when we leave here? LOL nah, nah, nanah na! LOL

Hi All! It's been a while. I just have been in a ho-hum mood the last few months. I haven't read your postings for nearly 2 months, so I've missed a lot, I'm sure.
I did want to say thank you to Rebecca, for the card. It was very thoughtful.
Speaking of out of town, I went to visit my family. My nephew got hitched, so went to the wedding and flew on to Houston to visit friends for a few days before getting caught in the chaos that is holiday travel on Southwest Airlines. I don't recommend them during busy travel periods. They cannot keep up with it. They really need to invest in upgrading their technology.
My eye is mostly healed. There is still a red spot, but no one can notice unless I point it out.
There is too much to read for me to comment. I'm just going to back and skim and try to keep up better going forward.
