@fabgeekmom Oh yes, coffee first! LOL I'm glad you didn't have to do much for the big day. I hope you enjoyed it.

@cbabie I hope it turned out fantastic. And yes, that menu was a lot of work but luckily, my husband did everything but the Amish noodles, the pie, and the chantilly cream! Thank you, I hope you had fun yesterday!

Hi all. The food came out really well. I had one plate with my favorite foods and nothing I don't like "to be polite." I'm satisfied with the way I ate. It was nice to spend time with my SIL and MIL and husband. We watched a movie and laughed. Today, we are going to Macy's to return something and I think my husband will get a few things. I'm not buying anything until after my surgery when I start shrinking.

@trooworld That was good that you only ate what you liked and only one plate. And your DH helped with the preparation. Hi, all. I was mindful of what I ate last night but still ate too much. Tonight we are going back for leftovers. A neighbor gave my cousin and her DH a side of beef and her DH is going to grill it. Today is a swim day.

Morning all, Yesterday was full of good food and family. I ate way too much, but I was mindful and only had one serving of everything. My 17 yr old grandson cooked most of the food and it was delicious. He evidently likes to cook and asked his mom if he could do it this year. She made a couple of dishes, but mostly all by him...I did ride my bike yesterday, used more tension and my knee hurt most of the day. Not sure if it was the bike or not, but it felt good to ride. So I don't regret it.

@fabgeekmom Thank you, I love that you are going back for left overs and grilling out. Enjoy your swim day.

@trooworld Yea on the food. Sounds like you went with a plan and it worked!! Glad you watched a movie that made you laugh. Laughing is good for the body and mind!!!

@cbabie That’s great that your grandson did the cooking! You might want to ride the bike without tension. Tomorrow I’ll ride the bike.

@fabgeekmom Yes indeed. We had leftovers yesterday as well. Today, we will probably have more. Enjoy your swim.

@cbabie I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. Good job with the mindfulness. Wow, your grandson is impressive! Good job with the bike. Yeah I ate only one plate but honestly, it was a big plate lol. But I have no regrets. Laughing is good for the body and mind!

Hi all. I had a good day yesterday. We went for coffee in the morning and then attempted to go to the mall. BUT...mission not accomplished: the line to get into the mall parking lot was taking forever and I had something to do at 4 so we gave up and will try again today. After my 4 pm appointment, we went for a drink and appetizers at a restaurant that we had heard about. Apparently, we didn't hear much about it because we didn't know it was a vegan restaurant! But it was really good and I would go back. Today, lots of running around. I plan on going to the art supply store for Small Business Saturday.

Morning all, I went to the outdoor mall here yesterday, but only to go to Joanns....lines were terrible. Took baby girl and told her to stay with me...LOL. we had a good time. Tried 3 times to buy new outdoor lights yesterday, 2 times the stores cancelled, but 3rd store a charm. LOL. Today we are take the kids to Enchanted Island, rides for them. So another busy day, but that just makes you want to enjoy home more. LOL

@fabgeekmom Yes you're right about the tension. I always want to do the most and have to high of goals...therefore not meeting them. so baby steps. Hope you enjoyed your ride.

@trooworld enjoy your day today, helping small businesses. LOL glad you liked the restaurant even though it was vegan. LOL.

@trooworld I’m not one for shopping, especially on holiday weekends! That’s crazy waiting to get in the mall parking lot! I hope you have better luck today. That’s funny about the restaurant being vegan. But good that you enjoyed the meal. @cbabie The enchanted island sounds fun. I bet the kids will enjoy that. I’m glad you got your lights. Hi, all. Last night was fun. I ate too much. The steak was good. I did limit my dessert to one serving of pecan pie and one gingerbread cookie. My cousin gave me steak and turkey to take home. She tried to give me pie but I said no. DS is making chill and DD is bringing salad. I’m getting back into my healthy eating habits. I’ll ride the bike as it is cold today. 37 degrees now!

@cbabie Oh gosh, I can only imagine. I hope you guys had fun at Enchanted Island, that sounds interesting. That's true, it makes you appreciate downtime lol. Thank you and yes, we did enjoy that restaurant (surprisingly lol).

@fabgeekmom I don't do a lot of shopping but sometimes, I enjoy it. Thanks. I'm glad dinner was good. Good plan to get back to healthy eating! Wow, 37, that IS cold!

@theslightedgeforever Missing you and your insights. I hope you are well.

Hi all. We went back to Macy's in the morning yesterday and it was like night and day, we had no problems getting in or parking. DH was able to get what he needed and I was able to return the stuff for my MIL and myself. I went to a coffee shop and did a lot of reading and people-watching. There was a lot to see as it was very busy around the area for Small Business Saturday. I wish I had brought my camera as there were interesting people walking by the coffee shop. We went down to Little Italy to go to the art supply store and got what I needed from there. Then, we decided to go to one of the local restaurants for appetizers and drinks. I had an Aperol spritz, which is a really refreshing orange-flavored Italian alcoholic beverage. We got some meatballs and some calamari and it was fun. My knee was hurting all day yesterday, I had to use my cane the whole day.

@trooworld I guess everybody got their shopping done on Friday. It was good that you could do what you needed to do at the mall. The outing to Little Italy sounded like fun. That’s too bad about your knee. Hi, all. DH and I are going to the cottage so he can drain the water out of the tank so the pipes won’t freeze. I’m packing a lunch so we won’t have to go out to eat. We’re coming back and not staying the night. We’re eating at our daughter’s house tonight. She is having tilapia and a protein pasta with sauce. I’m not crazy about tilapia but all is good as I don’t have to prepare a meal. I have gotten back on track after my two days of decadent eating.

@fabgeekmom Yes, I think so. Little Italy was a lot of fun. I hope all went well at the cottage. Yay for getting back on track!

@gemwolf110 Hi Missy! Nice to "see" you. How are your pups? I'm glad your class is almost over.

Hi all. I had to use my cane again yesterday. We did a lot of walking around. We parked down by the embarcadero (down by the water) and walked around a little there and then walked up to Little Italy and walked around. Then we went and walked around in our favorite neighborhood. It hurt to be on my feet so for dinner, I just made air fryer french fries + these frozen seasoned chicken pieces from Sam's Club that are really good. They aren't breaded, just seasoned.

Hi all. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. When I saw one post with all the dogs I knew that had to be Missy. lol

I've lost an average of 3 lbs this last 10 days so that's a good thing. I have to change my mindset about waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm trying to change my habits a bit at a time. So they stick.

  • fabgeekmom
    fabgeekmom Posts: 665 Member
@gemwolf110 It was good to hear from you. I know you’re looking forward to having time off. @trooworld The cane is really handy. I use mine all the time. It’s always nice to be near water. Your Sam’s Club meal sounded good. @theslightedgeforever A 3 pound weight loss is good! You’re doing great changing habits gradually. Hi, all. I went to the recreation center and saw a sign saying that the pool was closed due to extremely low pool deck temperatures. That means the water is even colder. So I went home and rode my bike. We had the meatballs from last week for dinner. I had to make more sauce. Next time I’ll double the sauce.

@theslightedgeforever lol yes it was Missy. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving as well. Congrats on your 3 lb loss, that's great! A bit at a time is the way to go instead of all at once.

@fabgeekmom Yes, it is handy. I find it very peaceful and relaxing to be near the water. The meal was good. That's too bad about the pool, hopefully, it warms up soon. Good job pivoting to the bike!

Hi all. The reality that my surgery is 17 days away is hitting me now. It will really start hitting me harder when I have to do the liquid diet on the 10th of Dec. I will survive the liquid diet, that's what I keep telling myself lol. We had butter chicken from Sam's Club with some broccoli mixed in for dinner last night. It's a very easy meal and we like it.

@trooworld I can understand that you are nervous about surgery. Easy meals are always good. Hi, all. It’s still really cold. DH and I went to Sam’s Club this morning. It was the first time DH was able to go. DS is making a pork stew tonight. It’s good that I don’t have to cook. I’m listening to the Cher memoir which is really interesting.

@fabgeekmom Yes, I agree. That's good your DH could go to Sam's Club with you. Yay for not having to cook! I'm glad you are enjoying the audiobook.

Hi all. I hate this time around the holidays at work because I can't concentrate and don't feel like working lol. I didn't sleep very well last night, I woke up at 3:30 am and didn't bother going back to sleep since my alarm goes off at 4.

@fabgeekmom Oh meatballs sound good. I should make some of those. I'm trying to do small habits. Still not where I want to be but that would be perfection probably. I don't like cold weather.

@trooworld Just enjoy these last few weeks before your surgery.

I'm having stiffness in my hip. I need to do more stretching.

I tried to do mini trampoline today but could only do 5 minutes and basically jogged and stepped on it and no jumping. It hurt my knee when I landed. So I got off and switched to dancing.

@trooworld I hope by the time you read this you have had a better night’s sleep. It is hard to concentrate on anything when everyone is so excited about the holidays. I remember teaching at this time of year. @theslightedgeforever It looks like you are adjusting to your aches and pains and doing what you can. Dancing is good activity. Hi, all. I stayed home today as it was too cold to go out. I rode my bike. For lunch I made roasted red pepper and tomato soup to go with my sandwich. For dinner we had Skinnytaste turkey taco skillet from the website.

@theslightedgeforever Thanks. Stretching sounds like a good idea for your hip. Have you always had a mini trampoline or did you just get one? Sorry about all the pain.

@fabgeekmom Thank you. I woke up with condensation in my CPAP mask so I need to get this sleeve that keeps the hose warm. Yes, it's hard, and plus my surgery is coming up in two weeks so I'm extra excited and distracted! Good job with the bike! Sorry it's so cold. That sounds like a nice lunch and dinner.

@exoticaleathers Hello and welcome to the group!

Hi all. The hospital called yesterday right as I was about to leave work. They wanted to go over my medical history and give me instructions. I need to make some broths this weekend and freeze them for before and after my surgery.

@exoticaleathers Welcome to our group! @trooworld Lots of stuff is going on for you so only natural that you are stressed. When do you start the liquid diet and what can you have? I will stop writing about what I am eating. Hi, all. Dinner was good last night. DS is in NYC until Monday so DH and I are on our own. I’ll do indoor exercises. Also our hairdresser is coming to do our hair. I need to go grocery shopping afterwards.

@fabgeekmom You always have such good meals it seems. This week I am going to make some lentil tacos.

@exoticaleathers Welcome to the group. All of us I believe were former WW members at one time. I became pre-diabetic and had to start counting carbs. Now I'm pretty familiar on what I should eat so now I'm just tracking and counting calories.

@trooworld I've always had one but only use it about once a year when someone sends me a YouTube video. LOL I probably have just about every possible thing to help me lose weight. LOL

No formal exercise today as this is my grocery shopping day.

Morning all, I can't believe how long it's been since I posted. My life is so crazy with appointments. Therapy is going good, but for some reason my knee has hurt much the last 2 days.

@fabgeekmom sounds like you are back on track..good for you. My DD just got back from NYC a week ago. She had a blast.

@theslightedgeforever Yes I am trying to change some of my mindset too. I have noticed that I am not eating as much late night...so that is an improvement. BTW, I was telling my PT about my back injury on the trampoline a couple of years ago....she told me that she wishes she could tell anyone over 40 not to get on a trampoline. It is not good for you, lots of reasons...but mostly it jars you and can easily tweak you neck. Don't know if its good advice, but thought I would share, you choose what you want to do.

@trooworld wow the time is passing...you got this. I am thinking about doing a 3 day cleanse, but can't decide if my life will allow that right now...when I read you post...it seemed my 3 day should be something to put my mind to. I am sure it will be challenging the first couple of days, but you have a good reason for doing it and we are here to support you. I laughed that @fabgeekmom will stop talking about her food..LOL.

@fabgeekmom That's true! I start on Tuesday. I can have protein shakes 2-3 times a day, 1 packet of either cream of wheat or oatmeal (plain) made with almond milk 1 time a day, 1 cup of reduced-sodium broth 1 time a day, 1 cup of very loosely pureed soups (not cream of anything, I don't think and nothing that has noodles or rice in it not even pureed), unlimited sugar free beverages, 6 oz of sugar free yogurt (not with chunks of fruit in it) 1 time a day, and I think sugar free popsicles but I don't remember. The sample meal came out to 645 calories! You don't have to stop writing about what you are eating, don't worry, I have to actually smell and see people eating in real life which is 100% worse lol. But thank you for the thoughtfulness. How fun, a trip to NYC. I hope it was not for business but for pleasure! :)

@theslightedgeforever LOL I feel you on that, I've got a lot of stuff myself.

@cbabie Do you have arthritis in it? Hello, nice to see you! :D The time IS passing! A 3 day cleanse would still be hard because you need your energy to chase around those kids lol, but it would be a good jump start on things. I do have a good reason to stick with it. I'm going to hate it lol. @fabgeekmom is very sweet but it is unnecessary. :)

Hello all. My husband wants to take me out for a last hurrah. I've been having a last hurrah for the last month but okay lol. We are going for Ethiopian food on Saturday night and then Salvadoran food at lunch on Sunday. Honestly, don't worry about talking about food because I will probably talk about food, too lol. I ordered some Fairlife Core Protein Elite protein shakes which have 42 g of protein in them. I want to consume as much protein as possible so I have the least chance of feeling starving lol.

Morning all, I got on my bike yesterday..I tried to stand and pedal and almost threw myself off the bike..LOL. I just had to try it...I didn't do too good last night of food. My daughter brought me this big tin of buttery cookies...I said thanks..you shouldn't have. She said I thought you liked them...I said I do but I don't NEED them. LOL.

@trooworld I like that you have menu plan. I am more likely to stay on point if i have my do's and don'ts laid out in front of me. I am a rule keeper..LOL Enjoy your last hurrah!!! I think thats been my mindset for too long... No I don't have arthritis..just some pain due to lasting reminders of breaking my knee several years ago. I think the dr said I really don't have any cartilage there. LOL

@theslightedgeforever I do the same as you. I mostly track calories but try not to overdo the fats and carbs. @cbabie That’s good that you are not eating as much at night. And I know that doctor appointments can eat up a lot of time. I agree about the trampoline. I can’t do any jumping. That’s not good that you almost feel off the bike. Be careful! And get rid of the cookies. @trooworld That was interesting about the liquid diet. I was thinking the liquid diet I followed when I had my colonoscopy. Enjoy your last hurrah! Hi, all. It was too cold to go out so I exercised inside. I’m cooking steak tonight but I’m cooking them in a frying pan. So no smoke detector!

@cbabie I'm sorry about your bike experience. Was it because of knee pain? Maybe try again in a few weeks. I love buttery cookies. Me too, I have to have a meal plan, even for this liquid diet! Thank you. It should be good. Ah I see. I also don't have cartilage in my knee, that's why it's so hard for me to walk sometimes, but mine is from arthritis.

@fabgeekmom Thank you! I am looking forward to it. Good job with the exercise! I hope you enjoyed the steaks.

Hello all. I ordered all the groceries I need for the diet. I am going to make the bone broths tomorrow and freeze them. My sister-in-law wants to have Christmas next Saturday so I can enjoy it, too. It's a good idea except I won't be able to eat and I will be surrounded by the sights and smells of food. I would almost rather have it on the actual day when I won't be tempted because I won't be hungry after my surgery. I just pointed out that I will be on a liquid diet to my husband and he said, "You are going to be on a special diet for the rest of your life so you may as well get used to it." NOT helpful! lol

@trooworld I guess your SIL doesn’t realize that you can’t eat anything. Or she hopes you will enjoy the holiday. I get it that it will be hard for you. Your DH seems to be like most men; instead of being empathetic he feels he has to give advice. Hi, all. It’s still cold here and I did my exercise inside. My granddaughter is in a parade tonight but we are not going as it will be too cold. My DD said she will take pictures. I have to go get a prescription and then go grocery shopping. I dread leaving the house. Tomorrow the highs will be in the 50’s. A heat wave!

    Good Afternoon!

@trooworld good luck with your surgery! Sheesh, that stinks and would be torture for me. I think @fabgeekmom has it right trying to give advice but just comes out off.

    @cbabie oye! Be careful!

@fabgeekmom steak sounds delicious. I need to pull out my indoor grill.

@theslightedgeforever dancing sounds so much better than trampoline...and safer. how is your knee?

    @exoticaleathers Welcome to the group!

Phew, 2 weeks left of class...then 12 weeks off. been kind of a hectic term, haven't made it to the gym once. Food not much better. Once Christmas and this term is over I plan on getting back into a better routine or well a routine...I've been tempted to rejoin WW but the cost and I don't really have the time to attend meetings at the moment. But I do miss seeing the people in person. I really need to get back into tracking. And my employer offered free sessions through an online physical therapy service. I'm working on my back, man I am not as flexible and range of motion is not as good either as I had hoped. Guess I got some work to do!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
