Ancient and kicking it

Apparently, I just won the Ancient badge (no one remembers when you weren't here). I didn't even know we had badges. But, coincidentally, after all these years in and out of MFP and a whole slew of different diets and diet apps, I reached my goal of 132.2 pounds this morning. Ecstatic!!!!! I have often hovered above that weight and then would shoot up again. For the last year or so had kept it in the 135-138 lb range but was not happy with that. I found a book The Fatburn Plan by Dr. Cate Shanahan that clearly defines a path for patient people. She starts with an assessment of where you are metabolically (after a lot of explanatory background, all interesting and easy to understand) and then you go thru a number of steps to get to weight loss. You change your eating patterns slowly and get to where you want to be. My score was very high (good) so I was able to skip a few steps because I was already maintaining them. A few more changes to my diet and eating times and the weight just started dropping. Doesn't sound like much I know, but I've been trying to lose this last 5 pounds for 5 years. It's very hard. My new goal is to get my subcutaneous fat into the acceptable range and it's not too far off. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Blessed Solstice, and all the holidays I might have missed. Sorry, but I refuse to leave anyone out who happens to celebrate differently than me. Blessed be.

And I'm so frustrated, and I've only been trying about a year.
Now I have to find that book! Hope it clicks with me.
Thanks for giving me hope!!! 🙏

Corinna, I got the book on Amazon (is there anywhere else?) The Fatburn Fix I think is the correct title. I think this worked so immediately and dramatically for me because I was nearly there with my clean eating habits. So I was still snacking in the afternoon a bit, but foods with the deadly fats in them. Cut out the bad fats (corn, canola, safflower, sunflower and soy - think I got that right) which are in almost everything, and the weight has been falling off ever since. It feels like a miracle because I know I'm not in ketosis yet (according to the ketosis detecting strips) but I seem to be doing everything right. Am now under my goal weight. Merry Christmas to us all!
