I took a break for a while, but now I’m ready to get back on track. I can’t believe how much MFP has devolved. Having a newsfeed and friends really helped with motivation. I don’t follow a typical approach with most things, so I also used the profile to jot down personal notes for myself. It was much easier than going back through specific food diary entries, especially when I was trying to track varieties for my goal of 30 different foods a week to support gut health.
From a business perspective, it doesn’t make sense either. Previously, they had a unique selling point, but now they’re not much different from other apps, except for being slightly more user friendly, though less visually appealing. It’s only a matter of time before the competition catches up. They’ve lost the sense of community, and, on top of that, the personal touch of having a profile to use as you liked.

My goal is to cut down on sugar. Eat more varieties and get more exercise 😊

I never really used MFP before, but I am struggling to find out the optimal way to use this app socially. I mean, I can count my calories and that's great, but how can we use the app to find like minded people, to get accountability or even just to share some progress ?

I feel that I can't search for groups as I don't know anyone, I try to read the most active topics but I have yet found the opportunity to jump in something. I've been sending some friend requests, but I see now that they don't really add much.

Is there an use case I am missing ?

Like you, I’m still figuring out how to make the most of it since the changes. It was definitely much better socially before. You could complete your diary for the day and choose to make your entry viewable to friends. Their exercise's would also show up on our newsfeed, which encouraged interaction and feedback. I don’t typically join forum discussions because they feel so open. Interacting on my newsfeed felt much less intimidating. Honestly, I’m not even sure what happens when you add friends on here now. I don’t have any yet! 😂

I think you an message your friends, and stalk their reports if they are public. But that is it... I sent you a request, you can try to see for yourself.

Maybe by creating a somehow small group, we could try to get some sort of interaction that doesn't feel so personal but that it isn't as public ?

Hi everyone, I keep falling off the wagon and feel like I cannot do it by myself especially if I work remotely I have gained 30 pounds after having my first child and another 30 pounds after I switched over to a remote job!

I eat unprocessed and plant based and I still gained weight. I have an addiction to sugar and I am here to break that addiction.

Looking for female friends only to motivate and learn from each other only positivity here!

    -Anna from North Texas!

Hey Friends, 39M from Steinbach MB. Looking for friends who want accountability, people who want to train together or just random friendship.

I'm currently starting a fat loss journey at about 23% BF with a goal of getting down to 10%.

Currently doing intermittent fasting, where I fast 21 hours and eat for 3. It's really hard to overeat using this method and things are pointing in the right direction.

I've been training for 12 years. I've lost more than 50lbs of fat and built 20ish lbs of muscle through those years.

Add me and I'll add back. Be friendly!

Hi everyone! Just starting out with this app since I’m turning 27 in January and it seems that my metabolism stopped working. I’ve never been one for dieting but I’ve always hit the gym regularly. I also just retired from the Marines so running against my will is no longer happening. Interestingly enough, with this app I discovered that I’m not eating even close to the amount of (healthy) calories that I need, never thought I’d struggle with eating enough…. But anyways, hello and good luck with your goals this year everyone :)
