ICD/Pacemaker & weight loss

I have an internal cardiac defibrillator since 2011. I'm looking to find some exercises that would be good for me, but start out slow. I do not have much motivation right now. Low impact on knees and lower back.

Thank you.
Janet

    Google chair exercise.
Playing with bands (like therabands) is a good way to stretch and get yourself ready for exercise.
    Google silver sneakers easy warmups.
And of course, walk. Short distance at first, add a step or two each day.
I hope you find something that works for you.

I just did a day 1 chair yoga from YouTube. Thank you for the recommendations. I'm going to work on them, for me.

A recumbent exercise bike might also feel good.

I recommend a stationary bike but not an upright one because they tend to hurt your tush. If you have access a pool would be good too. I also have an ICD and walk in the pool a couple times a week. It’s low impact and great resistance. You can always check with your cardiologist to see if you should/shouldn’t do a specific activity.

Do you have a cardio rehab gym near you? Our local hospital started with one, later expanded to a full gym facility for hospital employees, and then opened to the public.

It’s fully staffed with trainers and therapists with medically related degrees. When you “graduate “ out of cardio rehab you’re welcome to participate in the “regular” gym.

They also have facilities to offer gentler classes in chair yoga, gentle movement, stretch, gentle aquafit and so on. Even have some Parkinson’s specialty classes.

I can’t believe we’d be unique, so check and see if you’ve got access to something similar locally? Ours is via Wellstar.

It’s super reasonable- includes towels, classes, pool, gym equipment/free weights, yoga and more. Personal training, Massage, dietician services also available at discounts.
