Debbie - that's great news about your MIL's "home". It will be interesting to see if she gets along with everyone there and only acts nasty when your DH visits. Crossing fingers, she settles in there just fine.
Tracey - so sorry about the furnace and your fridge. How old was the fridge that died? What a nuisance to have to cook up everything that had thawed. I guess the only positive thing is that this didn't happen in the summer when it was hot out. Hope that's the last of major expenses for you.
Lisa - glad your daughter and grands finally made it back home. Hope the EX has to pay for all that disruption in some fashion.
Kylia - glad your kittens are doing OK after their surgeries. I miss kitty snuggling and purring. Thanks for the explanation about your husband's hunting skills. Was the hunt successful?
It was nice and warm yesterday afternoon. Got the mower going to drive around for a few minutes. It wasn't too happy about it. Then got out the pruners and whacked the Rose of Sharon way back - away from the house. It had also grown above the eaves. The landscapers did that for me a couple years ago and it recovered just fine.
I just checked my credit union account online - they paid my VISA bill twice. Three days apart. Not a big deal, I'll spend enough to cover the overpayment easily with just a couple trips to Walmart. But I'm going to call them and see if there was a computer glitch. Thank goodness I had enough in checking to cover it. Unless I was sleepwalking, I know stingy me didn't set it up for payment twice.
And Social Security has messed up my payment - they are deducting the $35.90 for Aetna Part D, which I cancelled for 2025, yet my account information online shows $0 part D premium which is the WellCare premium. I emailed them this morning, hopefully they get it straightened out soon. Ladies, just an FYI - you might want to go online and get a breakdown of your SS payment and doublecheck their figures. This might be a computer glitch or billing error by Aetna.
Stay warm and safe ladies.

Morning, kids,
Tracey - If anything will bump you off your train of thought, two major, very necessary appliances deciding to expire at the same time is at the top of the list. Bless your heart - so glad Kaitlyn and Brodey were able to assist. It's like appliances talk to each other, I swear! 👀🙄😵
Kylia - I ordered from Walmart to be delivered this morning, as I just could not add another store to my trip yesterday, and didn't want to be traipsing around in the snow today. There were no more deliveries or pickup times available for yesterday when I looked at noon--first time I've ever seen that here. All due to the snow. At least people are thinking ahead!
And... it's just as well they are. My delivery is due between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and we may see snow as early as 9. It's 21F out there now (-6C), but supposed to inch up above freezing this weekend. By Monday, it will be well above freezing in the afternoon, so if they can keep the bridges open, hopefully this won't be too bad here.
They're only expecting like 4 inches of snow, which doesn't seem like much to me. However, eight years of living in Montana means I always underestimate the impact of even an inch of snow on Southerners, which Arkansans very definitely ARE.
Mo - You are expressing the same things I have said out loud quite often regarding my daughter's relationship with her ex. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) he is out of my arm's reach.
I am so grateful to those of you who are concerned, but I can only imagine what this vengeful, spiteful, vicious man is telling his command, because so far, they have not lifted a finger to make sure she and the kids are OK - and she is a soldier too. Her command backs her all the way, but they're on an even par with his - they can't make his commanders order him to act right. It all gets very "he said, she said" and his command will neither step in nor allow military police to step in to help her. They just say "it's a civilian matter."
All of this makes me get a little... cussy. And slightly stabby. Which does nothing for anyone and makes my chest start hurting. So I go pet Egg, as she's kind of an emotional feedback machine. If I pet her even a LITTLE too hard, all of a sudden, I find out what stabby really means! 🐈⬛😹🥰
(EDIT TO ADD): If you're thinking I am just believing my daughter's side of things as far as that boy's general attitude in all of this, a) I do, but b) she shares some of his texts with me. There are some that make me so ill I don't even know how to describe them. He hates her so much for leaving him, and she still has to stay in touch with him because he's the father of her kids, and she knows it. Genuinely awful.
This went on a lot longer than I meant it to - sorry. Got 10 yoga minutes in yesterday and NO VERTIGO! So pleased. Hope I can continue convincing myself to get some exercise daily.
Machka - All your reasons for exercise make perfect sense, especially after talking to my friend. She said what is mentally and emotionally killing her dad and already killed her mom is the inability to physically care for themselves. And the only way to hold onto that is to exercise and be able to deal with your own weight. If you fall down, you HAVE to be able to get back up. It's terribly important.
And on that cheery note, time to go do something else!
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR9 -
Thank God Debbie. I'm so glad you got something figured out.
Pip, absolutely darling pix. Happy Birthday Yogi.
Love and Blessings

Mo, I will add my thoughts on Ezekiel bread. I eat it. It is definitely an acquired taste. Since it comes in the freezer, I prefer mine toasted. Because it is so hearty, I am satisfied with one piece. I like the taste of the cinnamon raisin better, but I’ve been buying the plain. They also make an English muffin and a tortilla. I’ve tried them but did not rebuy. Since my DH will not eat it, I need to stick to one at a tome in my freezer. It is also veey expensive. My nutritionist says it is worth it.5

mcmillonmail wrote: »Hello everyone,
Michelle, I am trying to understand. Do you have the headphones that plug into the device, and if so, how do you have the freedom to work out? I charge my headphones before starting my stretch at work, which works for me. I have Raycons, and I love them. When I went to the gym in Florida at the timeshare, they had the room with the steps and the equipment I needed locked. I asked how I could work out when everything was closed. They told me that was a good question that was never answered. So, I need to get started again. What I am trying to understand is, were you listening to music, your headset died, and your music played loudly on your phone? If so, they will get over it.
Deb, if DH brought MIL home and he stayed there at night, then you would be like my DH and me. Together but separately, you would be expected to help with the responsibilities. Can you imagine the verbal and mental abuse he would have to endure? I am an only child, so everything falls on me with my mom. Your DH is the only one living, so everything falls on you two. I think this facility is the best option and is reasonably priced. I pay 4800/mo for my mom. She does have her room. I hope your MIL doesn't mistreat her roommate.
Lisa, I am so happy your daughter is safe with her children. I know that situation was triggering for her. After that ordeal, she may need to see her therapist and the children, too. She needs to find out how to prevent that from happening again. Take his A-double S back to the court. That was ridiculous; she should have been reimbursed for what he did. Lisa, please don't overdo it out there. It is in the 20's in MS, so I know it is cold in Arkansas. By the way, I can tell that Corey is crazy about you. You are not old.
Pip, Yogi, and the pup next to him look so cute. I love Yogi's shirt. When I have my colonoscopy, they put me to sleep, but I wake up and look, which is fascinating.
Annie, I hope you are okay. I know your dad can be a handful.
Teri, Stay warm. I hope you have a nice fire in your fireplace. , I'm sending you prayers, too, if you need them.
Allie, tell sMiles I said Happy Birthday! I hope your endocrine appointment goes well. I have a feeling Delia will be smiling and a good girl.
Barbie, I am so thankful that you have someone with you to go to the funeral home for Jake's ashes.
Tracey, all I can say is that when it rains, it pours. I am glad that it worked out. May everything else, including your car, continue to work.
Kylia, I named Callie because I thought she was a calico, but she was a tortoiseshell cat. Oh well, she didn't mind.
Rebecca, I look forward to hearing how well the fasting is going. When I fast, it isn't intentional. I am too busy at work or prefer sleeping to eating at home.
Lately, I have been having trouble sleeping too long due to my severe migraines—ice packs for my head help, along with the plant guru stuff. Excedrine migraine and motrin also help. I may need to get on Tordal again.
Kay, relax and read some good books. The recovery period is the only time one can relax without guilt. So enjoy, cause soon you will have to go to PT. My friend Yolanda had to replace both knees and is now playing tennis again. I hope your recovery is pain-free.
Vicki, I know it is cold where you are. My MIL and FIL lived in NE, lost power in an ice storm, and moved to Florida.
Rita, your pictures are beautiful. That was a good bit of snow. We do not have snow here so far, but it is cold. My son and I agree on keeping the thermostat at 72 during the day and 65 at night to snuggle in the blankets. By the way, your DH has a detached retina and doesn't want it fixed. Soon, you can declutter his stuff, and he will not know because he will not see the change.
Heather, you and John make an excellent team. You compliment each other.
Well, I better go and make some tea and study. You all have a great night.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

One major concern was lifted yesterday when a staff member of the attorney who wrote our wills called back and set up an appointment for me to come in next week to take the next steps with the will and the community property agreement. I am good at doing what I know how to do but collapse at what I don't until I can find a professional to help me. I know that things take time but they take forever if you don't know what to do and consequently do nothing.
Weather is currently not a concern here, but if it snows, I'll cancel anything and everything.
Yesterday I went for a 45 minute walk and left Annie at home and she seemed to do well. Each day I give her practice in my leaving and coming back. Right now she is sleeping in front of the wood stove so she probably will be happy not going on a walk.

Tracey - I feel for you about the appliances. Ouch! Our fence men came today and did a great, efficient, job, but John is feeling it in his bank balance. I suggested he buy himself a new winter duvet yesterday and he blenched at the idea. The fence men said the concrete posts were very expensive for them to buy. But, they said it should last a very long time.
The neighbour came over to unlock the side gate. We didn't realise, but, although the MIL has recently died, the FIL is still alive with Alzheimers, at 95. Right now he is in hospital with something, but is coming out. The neighbour, who hasn't been in his own house for months, looked completely worn out and fed up.
Carol - Sending hugs to you and your husband. I hope his health improves with the weather. Spring is on its way ...... ......... ..........
I've just ordered a cropped cotton cardigan in the sale. Less than half price, from a company I used to use, but it became too expensive and out of my price range. I have had the same one in red, in M, for years, and this one is denim blue in L. I'm thinking it might work with my new black dress for the reunion in April. I wore the red one, with a different black dress, for the last reunion!

Tracey, what at shock about the furnace and the refrigerator at the same time---the expense and interruption to your life. Sending hugs
Heather, Good news about the fence but the expense is tough. I love the fence we have and remember how pricy it was. I knew why other people in our neighbourhood chose cheaper and less attractive alternatives. I am grateful for my fence every time I see it through the window or from the yard.
Carol, A sad and discouraged husband is tough to deal with. I hope you can find the strength to keep yourself going. You may not be able to help him, but be sure to take care of yourself.
Lisa, Glad the grands are with their mom and headed home.

Just heard a big buzzing noise outside my window, and looked out to see two men in protective gear clearing the very overgrown space under the tree on the pavement. Also they had cleared the drain, in the gutter, of leaves. Plus, it looks to me as if, quite inexplicably, they have cleared the front of our pull-in drive of weeds!
I will buy a packet of wild flower seeds and sprinkle them over the bare earth. We did that one year and a couple of poppies and some cornflowers popped up.
Nice to see the council have some money to spare!

Good morning all
I had to reboot MFP sheesh.well Im home and in bed..much to the dismay of Tracy as she will lose a days pay. But felt horrible when I woke up and I figured if I just rest up today I'll be able to watch the wee one tomorrow.
I hate having to do that..but ya gotta do what you gotta do. Will hop in the shower later.
Sounds like everyone is busy ..8 -
Woke up to a real snow today. Dogs took one look outside and did an about face! LOL The Wicket slipped on the bottom step and promptly sat in the snow. You should have seen the look on her face! Wicket is always good for a laugh, whether on purpose or not. She is such a clutz.
Got my new iPhone 16 in yesterday. Easiest transfer I ever did. Within less than an hour had everything transferred from the old phone to the new, and the old one back to factory. I was pleased. The deal came with a free iPad and I watch which my DH got. I like my current iPad and don’t want to trade that in. He is pleased. Therapy was good too, so other than being sick coughing and using up a box of tissues a good day after all.
Son call to tell me his grandmother, my ex mother-in-law is in the hospital after a fall and has broken her hip. She is 102 years old and I don’t know what they will do. DS is worried as now he has to find somewhere else to live. I think he needs to anyway, but he is 40 and a grown man!
Snow pics out my door from today with new phone. I simply had to try out the camera! LOL

We have only had 2 storms with over an inch of snow in the last 7 winters we have been here. So this storm is a ‘whopper’ by dessert standards. Everything is closed and all the paid workers are not coming in. Any problems with campers, the come to my DH and me. No one is moving out there, so I don’t foresee anything much happening.
I plan on spending as much of the day as possible in bed today. It is day 3 of this cold (not covid, I tested) and I have not had the chance to rest and recover. Today is the day! I can barely talk, the cold has aggravated my asthma and making me cough, which makes my throat hurt, etc, etc….. A day in bed is definitely called for. We are from New England so snow is no deterrent to us. If need be, we can get around. Nothing planned tho.
We bought a small 1 cup Keurig a couple days ago, loving this thing. Takes up less room than our electric percolator and can have it whenever! I use it for the hot water for my tea. I put the cup with tea bag below and let the machine heat the water. Nice and quick! DH is still experimenting with using the reusable pods with coffee he has left. We will get a box of pods of different samples at some point but need to use up current coffee stash.
Tomorrow is Kidney doctor, then no more doctors this month until the 29th for therapy. Thank goodness!!
Thought for the day:
What do you call ingredients you mix with lemons?

Hey, guys,
Did laundry, ate a bagel, edited some video, worked on my latest bag a bit, and kinda got my mental balance back. Re-read what I wrote earlier, and it was pretty dang dark, sorry about that. The reality is that my grands are OK, my daughter and son are both doing fine, everything DID pass that felt so awful at the time, and I am very happy with my own life as it is, I don't need to change it.
Barbie - I find those same places, the ones where I have no idea what to do next, and indeed don't even have the questions, much less the answers, terribly frustrating, but have learned to walk away for a bit. It's not collapsing so much as just bowing to reality. If I were a sports nut, I'd call it "drop back ten yards and punt," but I'm not, so I won't. You will find your way through this valley and back into the sunshine. Glad that Annie is learning to be by herself without going into destructo-puppy mode. You need those long walks.
I'm bowing to my own reality that I don't want to continue to talk about the disease I've been struggling with for the last five years. I realized when I was editing yesterday's taping that when I said it's a viciously individual disease, that only one piece of advice I give can be useful. I'll be telling people over and over and over to know their own body.
I just don't want to keep doing that. So I won't. I always know when I've made the right decision when I feel a weight lifted.
I don't know what's next on that front, but learning to edit video has certainly not hurt me. I'm still designing and enjoying the design and build of handbags, so there's that...
Later,

Barbie, thank you for getting us started on not only a new month but a new year too! Sounds like you are navigating your new life fairly well. I sincerely hope that things go well for you. Great that Annie is able to be left alone, even if it is for shortish periods of time.
Debbie, so glad your hubby has decided to put his mom in care. I could not imagine a worse scenario than her and your hubby at her place, so I am relieved that he has changed his mind. Just curious, does anybody who deals with her speak Japanese? Other than your son, of course.
Lisa, relieved to hear that Kelsey has the kids back. I’m sure this must have come up somewhere, but is there not a custody/visitation agreement in place? Surely by making her jump thru all the hoops every time he must be in violation! And she should be showing the vile texts to the powers that be.
Tracey, furnace and fridge????!!!! Yikes! Does any of that do anything to persuade Rodger to go back to work?
Rebecca and Tracey, I’ve sent friend requests, I’d love to exchange Christmas cards!
Trying to get back on track with diet and exercise, some days are better than others. Still having major issues getting motivated. One would think that seeing myself in the mirror when I get out of the shower would do it, but nope. Oh well, this too will pass.
Must get on with my day. Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the new gals!

Dh doesn't speak Japanese/Okinawan- She never taught him. His dad was Yugoslavian and spoke Yugo, Russian and some Italian, not sure what else but neither taught their sons any of it. He wishes they would have. The care home she is going to is owned/run by a Filipino lady and the one person we saw that was working there was also Filipino3 -
Pip - happy Birthday to Yogi! He's doing well for 11. Hope tomorrow goes smooth. Be good to get it out of the way.
Carol - sorry that your husband is having a rough time. That's a LOT of pills. Did his cardiologist have any dietary or exercise recommendations? Did BnL's estate stuff get settled? As I recall, there was an appointment set up but that was around the time your husband ended up in the ER. Hope as the days get longer and spring starts to arrive, everyone will feel better. ((HUGS)).

@Dinks2422, it is wonderful that you have started your road to getting and being healthy. You will find that as you exercise, your stress level will decrease, and your confidence will increase. When I exercise and eat healthily, I am happy. I try not to bog myself down with the scale. I focus on journaling what I eat, meal planning, scheduling, and doing my exercise. I say celebrate your weight loss and that you didn't gain weight. Don't beat yourself up during this process. Eating healthy and exercising is a lifestyle change, so you will age better and be able to do more independently. With all of that said, welcome to our group.

Carol, when my dad was diagnosed and hospitalized for cardiomyopathy, he was so depressed. The doctor told him that he needed to lose 75 pounds or he would die. That scared him and me. He got the news in December and was down 75 pounds at the end of February. He was drinking 2 liters of Pepsi a day. He replaced it with water and ate only chicken, turkey, and fish. My dad played basketball on Saturdays and walked. Yet, he was upset about the amount of pills he had to take and was upset when my dad asked me if he needed to take all of those pills for the rest of his life, and I said yes. I tried to give him hope that maybe some he would not need. I believe they feel imprisoned in their own body that has failed them. I noticed that he decreased the distance he would travel in case something happened. My best friend, Baby Suko, had to fly out with him when he flew out for my wedding to see his grandkids.
Carol, this is an adjustment for you, too. In a sense, you are limited, too. It is hard to leave DH alone for too long for fear he may need something, and now everything falls on you. I know you love DH, but it is an adjustment and can be depressing. Sending tight hugs your way, and believe it or not, it will get better with time. There will be good and bad days, but isn't that true with life? Take care of yourself, too, Carol. Do something you love, like read a good book, walk with a friend, or find a trusted person to sit with DH so you can get out. Self-care is just as important as caring for DH. You both are in my prayers.

No food today just been drinking tea. So far I’m up to 60oz. I will have one more 20z tea to go then I will stop. Starting at 6pm I start drinking that poop. Directions say 8oz every 15 minutes. I’ll probably do more than that. Stop after I get to the 1/2 way point, then the rest starting at 4am. I’m going to sleep downstairs tonight because I will be getting up and down a lot.
Sine I didn’t eat anything I will be adding 1000 calories to my food diary. If I don’t then it won’t complete and I don’t want to miss the streak I have going on.

Just having MFP open will continue your MFP logging streak.
I haven't logged in ages but my days keep going up because I leave MFP open on my laptop.2 -
More snow this afternoon and SIL came over and moved snowblower to other garage so my car is in the garage wirh heat. DH keeps it about 60 so no more ice windows.
My appointment at the employment office was interesting. The young girl doing the interview was surprised I had been at my job 37 years. Longer than she has been a live. Only thing she had was phone sales and I will not do that. I hang up on those people when they call, I don't want to be one.
Tracey--Sorry to hear about your repairs. Pray nothing else comes up.
Rita--Glad you are getting a snow day and can take care of you.
Carol--Sending prayers and hugs. I know with DH being home and not able to do much and I have to step up is stressing me out. We can do this one day at a time. Please take care of yourself.
