It didn’t feel nearly as cold as I thought it would. Tomorrow I’ll go to the gym then to WalMart then home and we’ll either put up the blowmolds or Vince will wind up the extension cords and I’ll probably be putting them away.

    Betsy – WB

Mo – I usually go to the gym on Wednesdays since I don’t work (usually). But I can’t say that I go with friends, yet I see people there that I know. On Sundays I usually do a DVD at home because it works for me to exercise early (like first thing) in the morning and the gym doesn’t open until 1 (remember, I’m in the bible belt)

Didn’t go to ceramics tonight. We were going to take advantage of how warm it was to get more of the decorations down, but it gets dark (and so therefore cold) so early that we quit early and had a late dinner.

    Sharon – welcome

kylia – after our kittens got snipped, they didn’t wear the cone. I really am not sure why. But they never tried to lick the site. I watched Jess do it and I was very surprised how fast it was done! For some reason I was thinking it would take much longer (not sure why)

Vicki – good thoughts being sent for your husband

pip – I honestly didn’t know this, but before the colonoscopy you shouldn’t eat any red jello. All other colors are OK. Boiled eggs? I thought it had to be only clear liquids.

Deb – now that seems reasonable – putting MIL in a place. The one near you sounds better, more convenient for you and that’s important

My heel is still uncomfortable. But I know that it’s going to take a long time to heal. My voice is back – mostly. I do find that, for some reason, I’m coughing a lot. Maybe I also have a cold on top of all this because sometimes I really get into sneezing fits

Katie – Vince has said that he should sit for the bar exam since he’s seen so many Law and Orders and other crime shows

    Lisa and Machka do you notice nightmares are more frequent when you sleep on your back? That’s my pattern ;{

Debbie - agree, putting MIL in a home for a few months sounds like a good plan. Glad to hear you are able to walk a lot and get some exercise in.

Kay - sounds like you are doing OK, keep healing. Being forced to be inactive can be so hard.

Michele - have you heard anything from Annie lately?

Allie - hope the cold passes quickly. I bet Delia will charm everyone at the endocrinologist's office. Happy Birthday SMiles! :p

Barbie - very glad you had a friend to accompany you to the funeral home. <3

Betsy - so happy you popped in! Happy New Year!

Vicki - glad you and your DH made it to the doc and back without mishap. Good a surgery date has been set and he'll soon be healing and doing better. ;)

Tina - sure hope the CA fires aren't close to you. Such devastation in the Pacific Palisades. :(

I spent a lot of yesterday seeing if I could get my 2 laptops talking to each other. Had a little success, but much more to learn about all of this. Sure could use DH right now, he once had all of our computers networked. But, it's fun learning about how it works.

Meeting my neighbor for lunch today and getting in a bit of shopping. There's a health food store where Ezekial bread is (or at least used to be) $2.50 cheaper than Walmart. A loaf lasts me a couple weeks, so I hope to grab a few loaves from their freezer and some other items.

Weaning myself off mega caffeine has been going well. I get 1 cup of high test when I first get up, then it's decaf blended with about 1/4 high test for the next few cups. I can tell it's making a difference, no racing heart. And happily, this has cut way back on bathroom trips.

39F right now, high predicted near 50. Roger has the stuff for my mower tune-up so maybe he can get it on one of these warmer days.

    Welcome new ladies!

    Stay warm and safe everyone.

Rebecca - Thank you for the inspiration to unfold my treadmill. I don't get enough walking in this time of year due to the fewer hours of daylight. I was stressing about getting on my elliptical, which has never been my favorite machine; then I remembered I still have my treadmill!
Pip- Do you still do your colonoscopy without being put under? I have never had any problems with prep or procedure, thankfully. I usually begin a vegetable only diet for days 4 and 3 prior, then down to broth at days 2 and 1. Good luck!

Bouquet given to me from one of my guests at neighborhood party. Goal for this month is to look into replacing windows. I will only do the worst of them because how expensive they are here. Also start to plan next trip with DS. Christmas decorations starting to come down. It takes me a few weeks because I do it slowly.

    Hello Wonderful friends,
I just finished catching up on your lives. You all have been tremendously busy. I decluttered the top of my dresser and my bathroom window. All the Christmas decor is pretty much put away. My mom's tree is still up. I got a call from the nursing home, and they want me to take my mom to the dentist. I called and explained that she gave the dentist a hard time and that they thought it was better to treat her for pain and let her be. They are continuing to call. I asked DH to explain that she didn't care for her teeth and refused to brush them. Even when I was little, I told her not to kiss me cause she had bad breath. When the dentist said to leave her be, I removed her dental insurance. I will see how much it will cost to take her to UMMC School of Dentistry. It is hard cause my mom doesn't want a bath, let alone a teeth cleaning. I know my dentist will work with her. Paying 4800 a month doesn't leave a lot of money left.
DS needs a new computer for school, so I will see if he can get a line of credit. DH told me he noticed I made many changes to the house now that he is gone. I told him that it is nice to make everything look nice, but I also told him that I had no input on what the condo in Chicago looks like. I had a lovely weekend at work. I had some great kids. I had a two-year-old who told me I was mean after I flushed her line. Then I had her giggling. I tried to teach this mom that she could not make her child wait for hours to eat—breastfed babies nurse as needed. Then we noticed his weight was in the 0.5 percentile, so we told her she needed to breastfeed more or go to formula. I think she was listening to some goofball on TikTok. It is nice having DS here. I chuckle, listening to Rose barking at him to do what she wants. I warned him that Rose could be bossy. Then he argues back at her, and then he gives in. I aim to read more books, travel, get my certification, get my passport, work on my Spanish, and lose at least 35 pounds, but 75 would be better. I want to get back to exercising. Do something each week that makes me happy.

    Welcome, Bridget and KJ!

Flea, I love your money tree!

Kylia, I got your message, and I sent you one.

Debbie, you are handling the situation well. Let your DH handle it all, and you do your own thing. I wondered why your MIL's dog can't move in with you. The cats may get ticked off about it. I avoid matters that deal with my MIL and let the 3-4 kids decide.

Heather, I wish my kids had a relationship with my kids like you do with your grandkids. My kids would cry when they had to visit.

Lisa, it is cold here in Mississippi, and I know it is colder in Arkansas. Are there any updates on how your daughter is doing? Are they back in Hawaii yet?

Barbie, I went back to read about the change in cars and genuinely believe he was looking out for you.

Pip, How are you doing with all of your fur babies?

Dr. Katie, I hope you will heal fast.

Rita, Lanette, and Carol, I hope you are well.

Rebecca, how is your hand? Is the bruising gone?

Allie, you had a lovely celebratory party at the restaurant and for Miles's birthday. How are Kyle and Tracey doing? Are they working it out?

Michelle, do you work out with friends or alone?

Margaret, that was a beautiful painting. I love the flowers you bring to post.

Rori, where are you going to travel to this year?

Tracey, Roger would be more receptive if you talked to him in a loving voice. My DH is not handy at all, and it is up to me to make repairs. My aunt taught me. My dad relied on me to fix things in the house. If I couldn't do it, we called someone in. When my mom left us when I was 9, I had to do laundry, write checks out to pay the bills and make calls to get a repair guy in. I had to study how checks were written in the past, and my dad would mail out the bills. That is why when my DH moved to Chicago, I was okay. My Dh hires a guy to mow the lawn and rake leaves. My dad always had done the same. It is interesting how we had different experiences.

Machka, I am inspired to visit Australia and New Zealand. When it warms up in Mississippi, I will buy my bike.
Barbara, I am so glad they rescheduled your appointment for safer weather.

Welcome back, Carla! I look forward to getting to know you.

My orthotic is bothering me and causing a lot of pain in my hip, so I am not wearing it. Hopefully, I can come in and order one for the other foot. My headaches have been waking me up, so I put on an ice pack and went back to sleep. Aging is not easy.

You all stay safe and warm.

    XO,
    Mo from Mississippi

We are doing great with the kids. They are dream kids, they don’t react to other dogs coming towards them. They walk really good on leash. They get along with each other.

I just clarified with someone on what I can or can not eat before my colonoscopy. It’s in 3 days so I will be living on chicken or beef broth, boiled eggs and tea. Anxious to see how much more weight I lose, lololol

Oh Pip do you have Bag Balm? That is a life saver for me during the "elimination phase" as a barrier ointment on your backside. It comes in a pretty green tin with a cow on the front at most pharmacies. Its called bag balm because farmers used it on cows udders to stop them from getting chapped. Worked so well we just took the tin in the house over the years.😁👍🏼
Hope the procedure is smooth and uneventful.👍🏼

We lived on a farm, had all the animals. We had bag balm all over the place. We put it on our cows udders after we would milk them. It smelled good too. I’ve had colonoscopies before, never had a problem back there.

Barbie. i’m so glad you have your friend to walk with in the morning and to be there with you for hard tasks.

I continue to feel pretty good.i watched 4 episodes of the original Law and Order Season 1. I loved that show but didn’t even watch it until its last few years. No telling how much TV i will get through before I get back to normal.

Debbie, I feel for you and the situation with your MIL. I’m not going to offer advice, because it is really out of your control. Just know we will be here to support you through whatever decision is made.

Pip, best wishes for a smooth and uneventful colonoscopy and prep. With family history on both sides of my family, I am very, very familiar with that one.

I’m off for my last bathroom trip of the night and to brush my teeth. Let’s see if I can sleep after being in bed all day anyway. Goodnight, my friends.

You are right, no color red intake so no red jello. My sister had colon cancer (she is good now). I will double check on boiled egg consumption. I read it was okay

You're welcome! I have a hard time inspiring myself, let alone someone else!💖👍🏼 Glad I could help. Its like Heather, she works out with her exercises because that is what she must do to keep her hips and joints happy. I am thinking akin to that, and this morning gym time is something husband and I do so we can be able to do things easier, ie walking and getting ourselves up of the ground if we need to. I am not really doing it to lose weight, its just so my carriage is stonger. Sure if I do that would be great.😁👍🏼

Mo - so sorry for your struggles with your neglectful mother. You are a better woman than I would be. My mother was a useless grandmother, (the children didn't like going there) and a very damaging mother. I always swore I would be a better grandmother, but I've learnt most of it from John, who is a genius with children. I've also taken on board how my DDIL deals with the kids. She has very strong boundaries.
I did speak very sharply to Bea yesterday, who was not playing fair with Monopoly. Her lip wobbled, but I think she got over it. (I wasn't even playing. I don't play games) John has an amazing ability to talk to them on their level. Bea chatters all the way home and they play silly games together. His patience is extraordinary, but he loves it. He says it takes him out of himself and destresses him.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

My niece and nephew, my eldest sisters kids were so "sensitive" playing games. I recall my sister just telling me, "just let them win, its less drama". Which I thought was ludicrous at the time! A little stern word now and then is good.👍🏼

My brother rang me while I was having a nap, so I was a bit worried about ringing him back, fearful of bad news. However, I did! He said he had been for an appointment about his prostate cancer op (local, routine op where they burn it off) and they asked him if he wanted the results of the CT scan they did before Christmas. It was completely clear! :D:D:D<3<3<3 Soooo happy! He didn't know what to do to celebrate, as eating and drinking still not great, so I suggested a massage, which he was very enthusiastic about. :p
For the new people, he has had v debilitating radiation for throat and tongue cancer.

    So, something is good.

    Hi All,

No fires in my county so far. I think most of the wind was north of us, hence the fires. There are 4 of them near Los Angeles. The one in Pacific Palisades (likely getting the most press because it's wealthy) and a decent sized one near Pasadena, and two others. There is also a small one in the desert (Coachella), but it's 50% contained.

Great news about your brother, Heather.

Kay-Sounds like you'll be up and running in no time!

    Annie-Thinking of you.

    Welcome back, Betsy.

Wow! All the snow! Stay warm!

We watched a series set in Tasmania last week. It was called Deadloch. It was a detective series and disturbing, but soooo funny too. Hobart was mentioned a few times.

Hmmm...interesting theory about nightmares while sleeping on the back. I don't have many, but the mister does. I'll pay more attention when I notice him having them.

    Stay warm and safe, everyone.

Feeling accomplished! Opened my eating window after 20 hours fasted with 2 paninos that "Fiorucci" makes (prosciutto wrapped over mozzarella), a small container "Sabra" singles humus, and handful of "Late July" brand multigrain chips. All very low or zero sugar. A good choice! Later is some sushi!

The early eye doc appointment went well. One of the lenses put in for the cataract surgery is beginning to show a fold. The doc said that was common and I didn’t need anything done yet but eventually will need to have it lasered. DH has a problem with the one eye he had a detached retina in, but he keeps refusing surgery to fix it. His body, his choice.

Today, I have my psychiatrist appointment at noon, so will get lunch out again. Problem I have is that I woke up sick yesterday with a cold, wore a mask at the optometrist appointment and while walking around Walmart. Going to have to do the same today. I have a cold, coughing, and runny nose. Sore throat too. Oh, well, it’s the season.

Woke up to a dusting on snow on the ground. It’s so rare here, my dogs didn’t want to step in it! It will be gone by the time I leave for the therapist. It’s already melting. Pretty though while it lasts.
